The animation has always been great. Although inconsistently in some arcs, the animation (disregarding the quality cuz it’s old) has always been good. You remember the last fight between crocodile and luffy? That shit had crazy animation for its time; even luffy vs arlong was really good too.

Yeah Luffy never thinks about the consequences of his actions. He just does what he feels like. But it’s a character flaw that is endearing, I love characters that are imperfect. They feel more human

It’s meant to hype you up as a viewer seeing luffy get his get back for his crew! Luffy thought that his crew died right before him of course it would be a crazy animated punch! The rage literally engulfed him and pumped him up. You think that after kaidos blast directed at the people he loves, luffy wouldn’t put all his might into that punch??? It only makes sense why that initial punch from luffy would be “super over-animated” This isn’t dressrosa bro I would rather feel hyped than having anything less than what they provided. They did that sequence justice imo. Of course people knew one punch wasn’t enough to kill the man let alone knock him out he is a YONKO after all.
