I'm 62 and have been alone since I was 49. There's no way I'm getting into a relationship with a man at this age. Everyone, MEN and WOMEN have too much baggage in their older years( bad past relationships, money problems, health issues, emotional problems...etc.) I've had a few men in real life show interest in me, but I just ignore them and move on. Travel, cook, spend time with children/grandchildren, sew, exercise, garden...find something to do. No man can solve your problems ladies!

Totally agree! Not saying that it's impossible to find a compatible mate, but usually the only men interested would be older, and the chances of becoming a nurse for him is greatly magnified! When you are young, it's possible to grow and change to be the best for your partner, but most people are set in their own ways by 50 or 60. It's funny to think about what reality would be like for 2 seniors to start living together and to witness all the quirks that may disgust the other!

I thought it was the same scammer, because she made the comment when she was believing this guy was not coming home this other guy popped up wanting to be her friend. I believe the scammer knew he had played his scam out asking as he could so he just created another profile and started it over.

I was widowed. I decided to make myself loveable. I worked with the homeless. I elder-sat for FREE. I adopted pets. I took care of family members a cooked and cleaned for shut-ins. If you think a 36 y.o. man wants a 61 y.o. woman, how dumb can you be? And I took care of myself. I ate right. I began exercising. I dressed better. And I found a lovely man, my age, not a Nigerian Prince, a hotel asst. manager. And I love him. But if he decides to bugger off....I stll have me I like me. Me is a sweet, generous woman who likes me enough to live alone with me if that is my fate. I want love, but (not to offend anyone) but weenie is free, lady. If you are paying for weenie you are wrong. If you are paying for weenie you are never gonna GET..You are wrong x 10, 000.

You can't petition the court to take away anyone's rights just because YOU don't agree with their choices. She can spend her money on whatever she wants. Collect starwars memorabilia, buy old clunkers and never fix them up, she can give to whatever charity she wants, or burn it if she wants... The only way you can take away someone's autonomy is if you can prove that she's got the money but not responsible enough to pay her bills. As long as her house and utilities are paid, you can't take her rights away. And some of you better be glad that you can't. Because I look at people who throw their money away on stupid hobbies or fake charities all the time.

1:22 OH, I just had a lightbulb moment! It's not only loneliness these folks suffer from, it's being alone after always having someone around since their 20s. That's why it's so important to be your own person before you get married. Otherwise, when something happens, either divorce or death, you aren't susceptible to crippling loneliness.

Yes! Like a lot of the victims from what I can see married young and haven't had to even consider dating in decades. In that time the internet has evolved and they're likely to be less familiar with the norms and red flags, especially if they were stay at home parents or did a role not using the internet for other stuff much too. Heck, I have colleagues their age at work who can't handle PDFs and emails! Scammers dream 😪

Ok, here is a basic tip: Normal people do not send you pics of their passport or driver's license. They only do this to try and convince people that they're real. A real person doesn't have to do this to prove who they are. Same thing with those obviously fake pics of them holding up a piece of paper that says "I love you (insert name)" with a date on it.

They put in money, and sometimes they get something lovey-dovey that feeds their fantasies about being with that fantasy person and that gives them a dopamin rush, and sometimes they get promises of a lot of money, which also gives them that dopamin rush, and sometimes they get a message that they need to insert more money and they keep going in hope of getting the dopamin rush again and again.

All addicts spend money that they do not have just to feed their addictions. Drew said it, but we were thinking it all along: All of her Internet boyfriends are probably the same scammer. On Republican Singles we've found that when a scammer identifies a target who will look past their initial sloppiness and ignore the red flags, they will repeatedly try and target the same person. For instance, we caught one from Nigeria targeting a woman so we deleted his account. He then created a new account, using a VPN, and with a different name and different pictures, and proceeded to target the same woman. So we deleted the second account and warned the member that she had been talking to a scammer and was now being targeted and to be cautious. Also, there's one thing worse than being alone: being alone and broke. STOP SENDING MONEY TO STRANGERS!

I knew someone like that too. She crushed on everyone. Then she died young (at about age 41), without ever finding love. She had some mental and intellectual challenges, which made it difficult for her to connect with people. My heart goes out to these lonely people.

Considering the rampant poverty in a huge percentage of the world, you’d think there’d be even more romance scammers. Imagine living in destitution and being told there’s this mythical place (North America & Europe) where people WHO YOU’VE NEVER MET will send you thousands, tens of thousands and even (my god) hundreds of thousands of dollars because……… words. Even your poor English skills, thick accent and ridiculous stories (the army doesn’t feed me, I’m a rich lawyer/engineer/gemologist but I need a 68 year old widow half way around the world to pay for a broken piece of equipment etc.) doesn’t stop them. I feel bad that people don’t want to be alone and are just SO miserable with their own company, but I cannot understand why that makes some people miserable. I love it. All the women in my family stay single after a great marriage and their husbands die or after a not so great marriage and a divorce. I am often/usually alone, but never lonely. I couldn’t stand talking to someone every day let alone more than once a day, except my son if he needs me. It would make me feel like I was being suffocated by a clingy, insecure weirdo. I have blocked contacts and changed my number for doing that (after I’ve said please STOP). You cannot be happy with someone if you haven’t learned to be happy with just yourself. It is YOUR responsibility to make yourself happy. If you don’t like yourself, why should someone else???!

Don't look down on people just because you think what you can give or get is of some morally higher value or standard. She literally admits here that she was playing the guys she met online because she liked the attention and would have just gone with the first to show up and probably ghosted the others. Not exactly the poster child for emotional maturity. There is a reason she is looking for husband #3. There is a strong possibility that she chased the others off and it’s somewhat poetic justice that as she was playing the fake guys she was being played right back.

@@setfreemiss I believe the reasons are more complex than that. Katherine has a history of unhealthy relationships. Maybe she's afraid to get too close? Maybe online feels safer than real life? Only Katherine knows, or maybe she's not even aware.

@@SkyePhoenix Oh she's not afraid to get close to a man. She thought she was getting married to a man after a few short chats online LOL. Not to be unkind, but she is also unaware of her glaring defects. Only a person with similar defects would be willing to hook up with someone who is overweight, appears to be mentally slow and forgets to put their dentures in during a video taped interview that will be broadcasted for the world to see. Where is she gonna find someone like her? She isn't, so she finds what she wants online.

One of the most heartbreaking parts of this is how distracted she is from meeting someone that would just absolutely adore her and she could safely do the same.

This is the advice I would give this lady: Rather than going online where you are FAR more likely to meet a scammer, turn your laptop off. Make yourself go out and talk to at least one real person every day. Then get involved in at least one local community activity. Can be the church, volunteering or exercise - but something you enjoy and where you are not worrying about looking the right way or appealing to a potential boyfriend. Focus on doing stuff and enjoying yourself and that way you will feel so much better. It will take time but your confidence will improve. Then you are far more likely to meet someone you actually click with.

I talk to women like this all the time, and often mention volunteering with something they enjoy, and they'll find acquaintences, friends and even love with people with the same interests. I usually get, "VOLUNTEER??!!" So many just want to sit where they are, and have a Prince Charming appear at their door. It just doesn't work that way, and is SO frustrating!

Katherine you are beautiful and I so can relate. You will find someone to be with. Stop looking is when they show up. Glad you see the truth. You need not bother with a sight in this day and age it's dangerous!

My boyfriend got catfished/scammed a couple times before we got together. It breaks my heart that there's assholes out there who do this to good, loving people 😥 I want to let all the seekers n internet hopefuls know that yes, us real people who will love you for genuine you ARE out here! We're waiting for y'all to get off the internet so we can find you!

This episode was heartbreaking. But props to the Scamfish crew for being very direct and to-the-point with this particular victim. Sometimes the truth seems to be drawn out quite when delivering the “big reveal” to victims, which must really mess with certain people’s emotions. Glad that you spared this particular victim from that.
