Sorry to hear she was scammed of 50 K $$ Money spends quick. That amount of money, I could live comfort for 2 years. Now it might not be a lot of money for people who like to live like the Jones . Getting scammed can happen to anybody. Old, young, hefty, skinny, ugly, average, handsome or pretty. I'm assuming she's in her 60s. You figured she'd be a little more wise. A guy that says he owns a oilfield company and asking to borrowing money from a person he met on line. MAJOR RED FLAG !!! As I'm sure every oilfield owner has a few banks , that they deal with. Especially if they just got started, they deal with small business loans. As soon as he asked for money. She should have, blocked and deleted him. I really hope she gets her money back or at least some of it. Becareful, stay safe, and God bless 🙏

Wait, it's a subscription??? This service should be free. Like... fuck poor people, you deserve to be scammed, right? Teaching people how to use google would be more efficient and helpful and totally free to do. You can make your money via ads on the website and ads on these videos. Or maybe even start a patreon. Anything else is utterly selfish.

Hi. I used BeenVerified to check into a man I met in real life and not an online, which turned out to be just as dangerous. After watching enough of these videos, things this man said (when we were together in person) didn’t feel right so I signed up and ran a check. Turns out he was a convicted violent felon in multiple states, including sex crimes. Just wanted you to know that you’re doing good work and even people you meet in person should be validated.

Every single woman in these catfish stories says the same thing: “He spoke to me in a way no other man ever has. He writes me poems, love letters, and gushy messages. My husband never talked like that.” 😳 That’s because most men don’t talk like that in real life! 🤦‍♀️ It doesn’t mean they don’t care, it’s just that most men don’t go around spouting cheesy lines from the inside of a Hallmark card 🙄. People in real life don’t talk like the characters in a Hollywood rom-com

Exactly this. Hollywood movies tend to give people completely unrealistic expectations of what a romantic relationship should be like. People need to realise that romantic movies are a fantasy. It's absurd, unrealistic and unreasonable to expect real-life people to behave like a character from a dime store romance novel 24/7. If somebody online is communicating with you in such a manner, then that ought to be a pretty major red flag (as should requests for money, obviously).

I really hope the experience can change that but it saddens me to see this middle-aged men and women be this vulnerable, of course we cringe because we know better but what does that say about the mental health and commonsense of so many ? (the ones who are assholes I cant stand but the ones that are just ridiculously gullible I feel bad for, being easily fooled doesn't make you a bad person just a less functional one) tydr They must have serious commonsense of mental health issues that make them more vulnerable than the rest of us who don't, scammers want you to ridicule them it distracts you from the issue of exploitation of human vulnerability that they get rich off.

My neighbor knocked on my door one morning and said that he desperately needed $200 because he was dating a woman and she was in a small accident on her way to see him. The hospital won’t let her leave until she pays. I declined. He kept trying to get her on the phone so she could promise to pay me back the next day. I asked why he’s borrowing anything, if she has the money tomorrow. And how is the hospital holding her hostage? He said she had couldn’t get to her card and he didn’t know her well enough yet but she was married so he could’ve just go get it for her without a lot of questions. He got nowhere with me, but, boy, was it entertaining.

She needs to find a new therapist. That was terrible advice. She is a prime target for scammers. And if her therapist is going to give people that kind of advice it needs to be followed up with "Watch out for scammers, here are some videos to tell you the warning signs." People who've been out of the dating game for a while don't necessarily know about catfish and scammers. I only learned about all this because I was thinking about joining and app and Googled dating stories to get an idea which apps were more successful and came across all these scammer stories.

@irene_elizabeth

I don’t think the therapist should have advised that at all. It is not a therapist’s job to advise, but rather to guide and explore with the client. The right thing for the therapist to have said (asked) was “what does moving forward look like for you? Have you thought about some avenues or activities you might like to explore as ways of broadening your horizons and meeting new people?” If joining a dating site ended up being one of them, at least it would have been her idea. And if she mentioned it to the therapist, without discrediting it, s/he could have warned her what to watch out for.

She is going on looks in the men she talks to. A lady I worked with met a man and he was younger and very handsome, a 9. She was short, overweight, and about a 5 in looks. When she told me about him, I wondered to myself what he was doing with her, but said nothing. A couple of weeks later I asked how her love affair was going. She just shrugged and said oh he’s gone. Much later she told me he called her from jail to come bail him out that he was arrested by mistake. She had already “loaned” him money until he got paid. After checking on him, he had no job, was in and out of jail and lived off women by getting “loans”. @@Jenny010132 Yes, but isn’t the expectation that you video call once in a while if you don’t meet in person for a bit? It seems odd to me that she was dating IRL and then was okay with never seeing the person she was supposedly dating online. In other cases people were fine with it because they were desperate and never got to connect with people in person. So the fact that she did and was still fine with settling for no face to face contact makes it weird. To me at least.

@@bribri0786 Now, yes. I never did with my now husband because it wasn’t a thing back then. I can understand the real guy not doing it if he’s recovering from a broken hip, though. I’ve broken mine and the recovery is HELL. He might not want to because he doesn’t look his best.

A hospital isn’t going to refuse to do a life saving surgery because the copay hasn’t been paid. When I broke my hip and when I had a near fatal asthma attack, I was treated even though I couldn’t pay AT ALL.

When she did her calculations it was $50,000. So I changed my mind. She's an idiot if she sends $50,000 and doesn't even keep track of it. Is she a millionaire?

I am so sorry that these people are missing something in their lives that would lead them into a life of total fantasy! She referred to herself as dating someone. You’re dating someone when you meet them in person and go out to places with them. You are not dating somebody when you’ve never physically seen them in person!!!
