I thought it was about time I did some kind of update on how my old friend Anxiety has been treating me. Well you probably guessed from the title that I've been feeling a little Dizzy lately. Anxiety Dizziness is the one symptom that always seems to keep me stuck. But I'm trying to reframe my thinking for a change, rather than actually being more dizzy lately, maybe I'm just more aware of my feelings.
Please take a moment to go check out NO STIGMA GAMING, my new seconds channel dedicated to gaming (and mental health a little bit).

As you know... myself as well. The more we focus on it the worse it becomes! Focus makes the biggest difference.

Sometimes i get those dizzyness and offbalance sensations and im pretty sure that stiff neck is causing them. Anxiety loves that area of the body. Usually it starts with an offbalance sensation for less than a second and the mind rushes with thoughts like "what the hell was that now". Then your mind is stuck, you do a body check trying to find something wrong, then you get anxious, you hyperventilating, andrenaline releases in the body and since there is nothing to fight or flee, you finally get that dizzyness sensation. That process takes less than 10 seconds. I did all the type of exams and all was ok. You know what i do now? Reverse psycology. When the sensations hits i challange my mind to give me more and i even redicule the whole situation. When it hits me, i'm like "Here we go again! Hit as hard as you can, you won't get my attention. No matter what you do, you won't f...ck my day". That's how i deal with it. Also hydration, deep belly breathing, meditation, exercise and good sleep help a lot. Stay strong people and remember that the mind loves to play tricks with you. Master it!

Here's how I've dealt with my own dizziness / rocking / swaying. 1. Do backwards shoulder rolls and upper body stretches as frequently as you can because the trapezius muscles can cause referred tension to the head. I personally didn't believe most of the dizziness was coming from tension until I did my stretches and my God did I feel so much better. 2. Look away from screens as often as possible. Think about this - when you're holding your phone and looking at the screen, you're spending a considerable amount of energy crossing your eyes to focus on these tiny little words and pictures. Looking up and focusing on something far away will help re-adjust your vision to its natural state. 3. Obvious, but sleep more haha. When you're not getting enough sleep, the body's circadian rhythm is disrupted. Say you normally wake up at 9am. The body will release normal levels of cortisol when you wake up because cortisol gets you up and going to be ready for the day. But when you suddenly wake up at 6am, your body will flood itself with higher levels of cortisol because it's reacting to this sudden new wake up time as if it's a threat. So throughout the entire day, you'll walk around with elevated stress levels and hence feel the symptoms of stress. You said that when you're lost in thought talking about web design, the dizziness miraculously vanishes. But when you start thinking about having to get up earlier, not moving house anymore, needing new parts for the car etc., the dizziness somehow appears again. Deep down, I know you know EXACTLY what the problems are and where the dizziness comes from. It's just the body's natural stress response and if we can learn to not reject it, it won't have that much of an effect on us anymore. Good luck!

I know that with KZfaq's algorithm a channel like this isn't likely to blow up and get millions of subscribers but I've always greatly valued your videos. I've watched your videos for years and you've really done great work for mental health. I also love the new gaming channel. I relate to you so much it's not even funny. That whole conversation about how you felt in that meeting hits it on the head how I feel in many situations. Not many people can truly understand those feelings without experiencing them. This is a lifelong battle but it's one we'll continue to fight because there's no other choice. I guess the the best way to overcome it is to not fight it and float with it. That's Claire Week's philosophy and it's been the best way to overcome parts of my anxiety. Nothing but respect bro! Cheers from Canada!👍🇨🇦🇬🇧

Welcome back Billy, don’t let the dizziness get to you, when we focus on our symptoms we feel worse I know I do, for example if I feel dizzy I start looking around my surroundings asking myself am I actually dizzy or am I focusing on my moments, you know that feeling when you look up the sky when the sky is blue, but the clouds are moving you feel like you’re moving as well

Take a deep breath. Often we feel dizzy because we hold our breath. Anxious people need more sleep. And lack of sleep causes unsteadiness.

I got super off balance at the end of 2020 around September. And it’s still barley there. Like almost rocking slightly on a boat. But it’s slowly getting better. I am so grateful it’s getting better though. Exercise seems to be helping me. And CBD oil. I also take lions mane. I take one in the morning, and one at night. I hope you feel better soon. And of course adequate sleep is really important too. Stress definitely makes my anxiety symptoms worse. Make sure you take times through out the day to stop rest and breathe. Get into nature if you can. It is so healing too.

I am also in this boat. A bloke I know had a heart attack a few weeks back. Since then the full gamut of heart related symptoms have been back - chest pain, arm pain, tight throat, off balance, etc. I’d been great for ages. Weird thing is seeing how big the overreaction to COVID has been actually calmed down by hysterical overreaction to the idea of heart attacks. Having the symptoms out of the blue has got me back into the old bad thoughts

2021 started like this for me as well, but I finally got myself to exercise after 3 years of panic (crying throughout the work out because I believed I was going to choke and my heart was going to explode). Just half an hour a day and it's making me feel like myself for the first time in 3 years; my tears lately are changing from desperation to relief. Watching your videos I realized it's not only the physical exercise that's helping me: it's the fact I'm doing it even though it scares me shitless. Anyway I want to send you much hope and light and thank you for your videos, which help a lot of people. Hopefully this covid shit will end soon-ish. Cheers from Spain 🤜🏼🤛🏼

This is why your videos "clicked" right away for me. It's like I am talking. I think we are still stuck because we pay attention on this feeling. This is what scares us the most and this is why it prevails. You said it yourself: when you engage in something that you really like and that keeps your mind busy, you can't feel this sensation. It means it is not organic and this is what needs to keep us going forward, not give up. There is an "organic" (let's name it this way) though: we, anxious persons tend to clench neck even without knowing it and that muscle tension really can create some dizzy feeling. You, plus, spend much time in front of the screen and we know that posture isn't good. I myself experience more dizzy feelings, even had a few panic attacks but if I think honestly, it's been a stressful period. Stress in us can easily create sensitisation again. Stress can be anything: work stress, ordinary life stress, hormonal (in women), weather changes... I mean, everything can be a trigger if you have a brain that is sensitive. We are stressed, we experience some physical symptoms (everybody have them) and we start to pay to much attention to it, again (other people just forget about them and move on with life). Attention creates thinking, thinking creates feeling, feeling creates sensations and symptoms and you are in that well known cycle again. It's not bad to come back from time to time to dr.Weekes materials just to remind ourselves that this is just another sensitisation, nothing more. As dr.Weekes said when talking about hers panic attack: it's just some hormones in our bodies acting a bit out of order for that time. I know it's hard but really: true healing lies in total, total acceptance. This is a hard period for you, for us but we will get out of it. Just try to go out more and engage in everything that gives you calm and rest (and yes! Good night sleep is part of it 🙂) Take care ❤️

I must admit dizziness was never my problem. It was always my stomach - tightness churning away, but as Dr Claire Weekes says just accept and it and does work. When I say that, it means going about your life as normal and not watching if you have dizziness or not, not watching if your stomach is tight as a drum, just go on with your day. Physiologically speaking these symptoms come in waves because the body can only produce so much stress hormone at a given time.

I've been glad that everyone stays in, but id like one friend with anxiety who wants to get a bit of sun once a day with me. I don't even sit in the garden to drink my coffee and id love to. Id be more uncomfortable to know the neighbours might be watching, spoil it for me. I didn't used to be this bad but always did struggle to be in the front garden, now it's to be any bloody where. If I'm going into a panic I just say it and people get it straight away, it's better to say.
