Are your big toe and second toe BFFs? This can affect your ability to move over the ground and stabilize. It’s time for an intervention! A big toe that’s positioned toward your other toes is often the result of something higher up the chain not doing its part. Its altered position can affect your feet as well as your knees, hips, and even rib cage!
I get it. Foot stuff can be boring. However, doing a little can go a long way. That’s why I love movements that are easy to implement and let you multitask.
This is a great “get it done anywhere” exercise to help set the stage for more freedom of movement. You can do it alone in isolation or use it as a prep position to help establish a tripod foot before going into more dynamic exercises.
My client who is showing off her bunion progress here has been using this move with other foot and ankle movements. Over the past year, we’ve also been addressing the full kinetic chain (how she moves in her hips, rib cage, and shoulders). Bunions are actually a full body issue! Not only are her feet looking better, but they feel better and are more mobile, and she has less pain in other parts of her body as well.
