A KZfaq subscriber reached out to me to give him a hand with his 1968 Mercury Cougar project because he was stuck. I drove down to Atlanta Georgia to get it done for him. On the way back I stopped off in Arkansas to pick up some rust-free parts.

Sandy and I are the owners of this 68 Cougar. To say we were thrilled when Scott agreed to help us is an understatement! The experience of working / observing along side him (a true master of sheet metal) was informative and heart warming. I’ve been around maintenance most of my working adult life and could tell in minutes he was an expert in his craft, calmly working through the challenges of this quarter panel. A project that began in 2004 when my father in law purchased this car has now been jump started. This project is dedicated in his memory, as he passed before we could work on it together. Now let’s get this video to 1 million views so we can watch Scott paint a car!!

I hope a million views do come through, so you can get that car painted. I have a Ford car from the early 70’s I’d like him to look at. I’m going to cross my fingers I have you and your wife’s blessings.

Great story on the car - lots of boomers have similar stories but some stories never get completed. Scott is a whiz when it comes to metal work. I've watched him do some very creative work. I too have a story on an old truck but I want to finish the job myself. I've been practicing on a lot of crashed vehicles and have sharpened my sheet metal skills. I have a nice shop with lots of tools and a lift and find it very soothing to work on crazy stuff. It satisfies to look at the finished job and not be able to tell it was crunched.

Nice work, Scott. i'm surprised that those quarter panels fit so well. You need to order a pizza! Great story ! I often like taking the long way home!

3:29 I have a Transit Connect with a sheet metal divider. I'd rather have too many bolts to keep all my stock from crushing me 😂 But I also wonder how much it alters the safety of the van with all the engineered crumple zones and stuff. Wish I'd learned more about autobody when I was younger. You make it look easy.

Not to take away from your wrecked rebuilds, which are fascinating, but this was great. I think you should start a series, "Restoration Rescue".
