As i understand a big part of her initial success came from copyright infringed items (christmas movie themed)?

10:56 - Awesome shop! I would note to double-check spelling (the words 'then' and 'chenille'). I'm not going to spellcheck all of it. If she has a religious wreath sign in the Wreath Sign section, for example, could she copy that listing and put it also in a Religion section? That way, she would get people looking for wreath signs AND people looking for religious items. If you switch to POD, you'll probably need to raise your prices or take a loss in profit.

Very cool audit. I'm super impressed with her ability to keep it together while working like a mad woman creating the thing, then getting the orders out the door! I am an artist and have been for 50 years. I think it's very likely that every human on earth has the ability to create a cool piece of art if it's something they want to learn and develop. I have taught students who didn't know a thing about mediums, compositions, design, etc...and watched them develop their skills. Seeing those big smiles on their faces and the pride and belief they gain in themselves is immeasurable. I am thinking about opening my own Etsy shop in the near future. Watching these audits is so very helpful. Thanks guys!

May I suggest that in your quiet times you premake your items for future stock,as well a preorder supplies. because you never know if there will be a supply chain issues. Consider an auto res ponder to the emails you receive ,that puts the customers at ease in a line up for your processing and posting the item -very important(5 star customer revues). Enjoy and have a happy life!

I think she can add everything she wants and keep couple of directions if she wants. Simple solution to keep up with it all would be hiring somebody to help, that's all

When I mixed POD with my handmade items, I had customers order several items and 1 item would be POD. It was going to cost me more for the additional shipping for that one item, plus the cost. So I removed my POD items since I think those would do better in a store that is strictly POD only.

Loved this!!! I'm always afraid of getting started and having that problem Jenny had on Thanksgiving. But this was very eye opening. At the end of the day, if it gets out of hand, I just have to remember to either delegate to a POD site or, alternatively, bring up the prices 😅

What is the 1,2,3 Pod that she refers to? I looked for it and not finding it. Thanks!

If she was swamped with orders - raise your prices a little bit.

Looking at her sales, her wind spinners are the things doing the best for her- she says she has a tumbler/mug press but there's no mugs/tumblers in her store. Stained glass mug search has a couple of bestsellers in it (assuming those aren't faked sales) so it's at least worth a try. 3 things I'd do if I were her - make more wind spinner listings exploring outside the stained glass look, niche into porch life/garden lover items, lean into other search terms and keywords bringing in traffic. Maybe there might be 'garden decor' 'stained glass' 'hummingbird' etc. And do some decor trend research, the designs might be a touch dated. I mean am I getting this wrong? Why focus on a niche that's doing nothing for her and abandon the one that is? The faith-based stuff she has now is barely selling; so much stuff in her shop - tea towels, candles, mousepads, pillow covers.... none of it is selling. The mock-ups are not very good, honestly, and again the designs are a little dated.

How can she get an email list? I thought Etsy forbids us to do that??
@penelopesparrow
@penelopesparrow 18 күн бұрын
you're allowed to have an email list but you MUST get the buyer's consent to put them on it. Automatic collection of emails is not only against Etsy policy, it's also illegal.

Well this goes for the lucky people who don’t get suspended for no reason like so many of us. I think recommending the Etsy platform who treats their sellers like dirt is becoming morally inacceptable. Its like recommending to your best friend to stay in a toxic relationship and accept domestic violence.

Question? Is she a graphic designer? Does she create all the original artwork? Does she purchase the artwork so she can resell? That is my once concern for her shop. Just asking as I see fonts and designs that I've seen before. TIA

No. I am not a graphic designer. I do make some of my own designs by using elements from Canva or Creative Fabrica. I do purchase some designs from sellers on Etsy which have commercial licenses.

As a graphic designer, was my concern too. So stock art placed on items then?
@Inked_In_Thyme
@Inked_In_Thyme Ай бұрын
@@suziebuttons I answered above but I do make a lot of my own designs. They are comprised of elements/fonts from Creative Fabrica and Canva. Most of my shirt designs were done by me. I think maybe 3 or 4 are ones I purchased from sellers on Etsy with commercial licenses. As for the designs I do not create, those are from Creative Fabrica or purchased from sellers on Etsy. I do not have the time nor am I a graphic designer. Never said I was. You will find most sellers who sell the same type of products I do either make their designs using elements from Creative Fabrica or Design Bundles or they purchase them already made from sellers on Etsy. Consider yourself lucky to have the talent to be a graphic designer!

@Inked_In_Thyme Ай бұрын
@@suziebuttons No worries! I will not purchase a design unless it states it can be used for small business or it comes with a commercial license, some designers ask you to pay for the commercial license in addition to the cost of the design itself. Which I am totally fine with. I pay for a membership to Creative Fabrica and with that comes commercial use of fonts and designs. Some sellers on Etsy will state that you can use their designs for up to 100 sales and after 100 they ask that you re-purchase the design again. I have a spreadsheet where I keep track of those so if I get close to 100 I can go and buy it again! LOL. Not sure everyone is like that!!

I do create a lot of my designs myself. Others I purchase with commercial licenses from Etsy or I get them from Creative Fabrica. I do not have the time to create every single design myself. I wish I did.
