@bryces99512 жыл бұрын
If you have not been there you will never understand. It has nothing to do with her friend. This happens everyday thousands of times over and not everybody who offers a friend dope is doing it to be evil. Its a slow leading up to the point where you become addicted. It usually starts with pills which is exactly what happened here. Her friend didnt even realize the magnitude of what she was doing. And this friend most likely didnt realize they themselves were a addict because addicts are masters of lieing to themselves and believing it. Its the only way to keep sane in their insane world and not just walk in front of a bus. So ya it goes way way deeper than her friend being a terrible person.

For many years I have been a volunteer working with foster children, their biological parents and foster parents. These dear children, because of their parents’ addiction, live in a continuing Hell for a very long time, sometimes for their entire childhoods. Their parents wander in and out of their children lives and in and out of rehab and in and out of jail and in and out of abusive relationships. Most often these children do not have a good outcome. I’m sorry for these addicted parents and their struggles. I’ve met some brave and compassionate parents who have given up their children in order to assure them a healthier and happier life. I hope her children can find forgiveness as well. It’s difficult watching a parent crumble from addiction and mental health issues. I know. I’m an only child too, so at least it spared other human beings besides the ones already in our immediate family. I often wonder if it primed me for the same…at least I learned “how” not to try and kill myself. I’d think out more efficient and effective ways and couldn’t figure out why my father, who was so intelligent, couldn’t figure that out? It’s bc he really didn’t want to die and it was his many calls for help. Back in the 70s and 80s, there really wasn’t a label yet for PTSD. He was a very damaged man after Vietnam. My observations as a child and how my mind was thinking at that time shows evidence of the damage done. What kid ever thinks this way? Is it normal? If it is, then what a scary world we live in… For the record, I have been working my way out of this generational trauma and it’s not easy work, but it’s worth it. RIP Bree. No matter what these interviewees are talking about , as soon as they get on the subject of losing or missing their children they instantly break down. A mother’s heart is automatic. Children should always come first but unfortunately these addicted situations cause the loss of babies. So sad.
@betsybabf7482 жыл бұрын
Imagine the pain the children have and how it affects every part of them and who they develop to be. The only people in the world whose job it is to protect them are the ones who endanger and hurt them most. That is the true sadness.

Time to provide these people with pharmaceutical opioids. They are safer and cheaper then street heroin which is just fentanyl anymore. It infuriates me to see this woman in this situation. If we are ever to get this opioid epidemic under control we MUST move away from prohibition and move toward harm reduction. Studies show when people are provided with a safe and reliable supply of heroin or diliaudid that they are much more likely to seek help and get a job. Its obvious because they arent spending every minute looking for the drug or the money to buy the drug. It frees them up to have time to reflect and consider different options. In other words it frees them from the hustle and gives them time to actually live their lives. Opiate addicts are not like drunks the vast majority can function just as well as somebody whos not on opiates. We need to spread this information and force change. These are real people and good people and they are worth helping. Their problems are our problems and we need to bring this to the forefront because they deserve better. They deserve to have lives too.

I agree with you 1000%, but it is such a sad, sad reality that our society is WAY behind when it comes to this. The stigma is so alive and well that the concept of harm reduction alone is still taboo -even in the midst of the worst epidemic we have ever seen! In other parts of the world they are light years ahead of us. But here, people are fighting over things like narcan being more accessible. As if that should EVER even be a debate!!! This is why Im determined to work in the recovery field. Advocacy for change is desperately needed.
@SB-uw3fe2 жыл бұрын
We already do that with methadone and suboxone. Replacing one addictive drug with another strangely enough doesn't cure the cycle of addiction.
@caseylynn59762 жыл бұрын
@@SB-uw3fe use of medications such as methadone and suboxone, is not "replacing one addictive drug with another". That's one of the biggest myths about MAT-medication assisted treatment. Of course they don't "cure" anything, because addiction has no cure. But it DOES help treat it, and stats show its THE most successful treatment for opioid addiction. But addictive? Nope. There's a difference between addiction and dependence, as is taught to those who work in the recovery field in college curriculums. MAT meds come with physical dependence, sure- so do TONS of other meds too, like many antidepressants for example. They have to be slowly tapered off of. That's not addiction. Same with suboxone and methadone.

I’ve watched so many of these and have been upset but this one is crushing me. I can see the normal in all of these people who this channel interviews. I can see the normal in Bree as well. Under all the addiction and all the crying. Remember … she was just like the rest of us before drugs changed her brain function. Don’t ever spit on addicts. I’d Narcan someone infinity times if it means the person will one day get clean. I read the post where she’s passed away. God rest her soul and I pray that she is free from this pain she’s suffered. My heart goes out to her kids but especially the one who hung up on her on his birthday. That poor boy will never be able to shake that. Her fathers heart must be permanently destroyed. My heart is shattered for all of them. Rest in Beauty and Peace Bree.

I've been a heroin addict for21 years my daughter almost23 years old. I took care of her a 3rd of her childhood. She has a lot of Resentment towards me, And the choices I made ,I never hit her, abused her in the physical sense. But I wasn't there, I thought I was doing the right thing by letting her stay with her grandmother it was a better situation than what I could provide at that time. She has every right to fill that way and I have no right To tell her how to feel .Just remember not everyone will forgive you once you get clean and change your life. Everyone heals on own time, maybe they won't ever forgive you and there is nothing you can do about it. These are the choices we made. God bless. It gets better.

Yes! A physician/speaker who works with addiction (Gabor Mate) told his audience not to look at addicts as “someone else.” Then he said that out of 331 people in the room, 47 would develop a new addiction (statistically speaking). It can happen at any age. I’ve heard of grandparents starting their retirement and spending their whole nest egg on crack in a year. This affects everyone. I never thought I would try drugs but life gets hard and painful and you get worn down. But no matter how bad life is, drugs will make it much worse.

Sometimes being the best mother you can be means letting your child go..Putting your child first means making sure they are safe..Admitting you are not in a place where you are able to provide that means you are giving your child the best life you can with the resources you have available to you right now..We can all daydream about and chase some kind of ideal..but reality is what it is..Making sure your kids are being taken care of, so that you are free to cut yourself from everything that is contributing to this life you have fallen into, and find a way to take care of and love yourself first..That is the least selfish thing you could do right now..
