Explain to me why a single person would choose to live in the Candor faction, where their only thing is not lying and therefore having no privacy. 4. How did they even discover that radiation has mutated dna so people have less character traits? Like whose thesis was that?

i know this video is almost a year old but im losing my MIND because me and my little 11 year old friends were such huge divergent stans, we all got together and had a party before we went to see this movie at like 8pm on a school night, we were all "in costume" which just meant that we were wearing colors coded to the ~factions~ we wouldve been in and all my friends thought i was a coward for wanting to be in the one that just farms. also there was a nearly friend group shattering fight once because one of the girls in the group said she would be divergent and dauntless and everyone got mad at her for just wanting to be like the main character so there was a huge fight at a sleepover about it. despite the massive impact that the divergent series had on my prepubescent mind and the number of times i looked up "divergent memes" on pinterest on my first generation kindle fire i had absolutely no recollection of any of this until i watched this video so thank you

When I was 12 and obsessed with Divergent, I thought I could be Dauntless because it seemed fun or something, but now I know I'd just go with either Amity or Abnegation (because they're the same thing, let's be real) because they all seem like they're just vibing and being nice and I think I could do that pretty easily.

I remember this era too well. All of the girlies wanted to be in Dauntless cause they thought Four was hot but I’m actually proud of my younger self for acknowledging that I didn’t wanna die and would probably hang out with the farmers and stay on the DL. Do I like farming or have any useful farming skills? Nope. Would I do the bare minimum and get to wear cute cottagecore clothes and stay away from the rest of the drama and death… you bet 👩🏼‍🌾

SPOILERS: They’re contained in a wall as part of an experiment where they tried to create the perfect human by altering genes but it ended up losing other qualities, so they are waiting for all of the genes to like heal or something (go back to how they were) and the people who are ‘divergent’ basically just means they are normal people, so she’s literally like all the other girls

i was obsessed with divergent in middle school so i’m going to answer the questions even though no one asked and this video isn’t supposed to be taken seriously 1. it doesn’t really explain what’s outside the wall. i think that the rest of the world is post apocalyptic or something. the government is trying to control them by keeping them inside. the amity live outside the city where they farm, but i think it’s just dead grass past that. its revealed at the end of the second movie that the city is supposed to be an experiment to see if society can thrive the way theirs is run 2. basically erudite=scientists, amity=hippies who farm, candor=lawyers, dauntless=military, and abnegation=charity 3. there are divergent stans and a whole fandom. they also overlap with hunger games and harry potter. fandoms like that 4. in the book tris and her brother caleb are both 16 at the time of the test making caleb a few months older. this is not possible because women can’t birth kids a few months after one another. i think the author just doesn’t know how pregnancy works. in the movie caleb is 19 and tris is 16. maybe they wait until all their kids are 16 then they take the test together?? 5. the brothers name is caleb prior 6. his name is four because he has four fears: heights, killing innocent people, claustrophobia, and his father. his instructor gave him the nickname when he joined dauntless. his real name is tobias eaton 7. four was abnegation born. he doesn’t like talking about it because his dad marcus eaton is an abnegation leader who abused four throughout his childhood, which is basically the opposite of what abnegation stands for. spoiler alert, four is also divergent 8. the factionless are basically homeless. they live on the streets 9. they play games to see who says in dauntless. i think it’s so they don’t have weak links in the faction. it’s basically military training 10. the abnegation weren’t allowed to wear makeup so either she was experimenting with it or the makeup crew put it on to make her look more edgy 11. tris is 16, four is 18, we’re just going to say the new recruits are also 16ish, and the instructor (asshole neck tat guy) is also 18
