Greetings fellow KZfaqrs and enthusiasts! Please SUBSCRIBE!
EDIT In the video I say "trans cooler" but I should have said "A/C condenser." Sorry about that!
I stumbled upon this item of concern while checking on something else. It completely caught me off guard when I saw it! Please watch the video and check for this on your car to ensure your vehicle's cooling system does not have this hidden issue. My 98 LEXUS GS400 is shown, but this is applicable to any other vehicle (mainly those equipped with an automatic transmission).
TOOLS NEEDED
Shop Vac / Vacuum
Brush
Ratchet & 12mm socket (LEXUS GS, other vehicles may vary)

Great tip to maintain the radiator, this will surely help all the 2nd gen GS owners out there, and best part is that you don't need crazy tools for the job. 👍

Boom. I'm doing this tonight. Thank you! Sidenote: My wife has the 2001 GS300 Blue Pearl paint and the GS400 17 inch wheels. Yesterday I found a video on touching up plastic bumper and wing with baby oil and a little mineral spirits. And then you can seal it with ceramic seal. It worked. My wife's blue came back to a correct color appearance with just that. Although I haven't sealed it yet. I'm going to redo it when I seal it.

If that's the AC condenser then would a dirty one affect the dual climate control? My 07' ES350 driver side blows warmer than passenger side, takes a while to cool. Freon charge is good...
@ForwardMomentum
@ForwardMomentum 4 жыл бұрын
Ben Ila the condenser impacts the cooling performance of the overall system. If it starts to go out, cooling becomes more difficult. Your issue could be related to this failing, but it could be a few other things as well. You’ll need to troubleshoot and isolate. Another possibility is the mix servo. Good luck!

Can I ask - does the Mk 2 suffer from the bad Radiator syndrome that attacked many Cars including Mercedes around the 2000 period? The Transmission connector running through the Rad used to fail and could result in Coolent going into the transmission? Is it a Japanese built Car and Japanese Radiator in the 2nd series? A Valeo rad isn't used?

@@jfros9794 Tough question. If you don't already have one, find a good Mechanic, and have him look the car over before buying it. focus on suspension condition and expect to have front end parts replaced as a preventative measure. Same with Timing Belt. Although alot of parts are Toyota cheap and reliable, some parts are Lexus exclusive and expensive (Emission parts like the evap can, the Brake booster ABS and master cylinder assembly is modular) If you live in California, this may be worth noting to meet smog. I also heard the GS is horrible in snow. (IDK about all that, it is why I live in CA)

He damaged the radiator with the vacuuming... When I cleaned mine (2000 GS300) I sprayed it carefully with a water hose, and cleaned with an old toothbrush very carefully; I also very carefully vacuumed lightly with brush attachment. In proper order... Remove what you can by hand. Lightly, and very-very carefully vacuum with brush attachment; use the toothbrush to loosen debris - continue with vacuum as needed. Once you got it good with the vacuum, spray with water on the "Cone" setting if possible. Please people... Be careful when cleaning your radiator or you might as well replace it. You could even avoid vacuuming all together to avoid damage as it's very easy to do - remove what debris you can by hand, toothbrush, and by spraying with water on a safe setting; I use "cone". Sorry... I can ramble.
