Bought my "salvage" GS 430 back in 2013 with 130k miles on it, now in 2022, at 240k it runs as well as it did when I bought it. I never changed the timing belt, runs super smooth with plenty of power. I have no desire to buy a new car, I am happy with my old GS430.

I know im late to the party and might sound mind of bias but does anyone prefer the 98-05 Lexus Gs over the 06-current style? I love the interior and features of the 06-current but i cant get with the exterior styling and body lines. The 98-05 just exterior catches my eye as well the "bubble" headlights and taillights are iconic!

The best thing about the '98-'05 GS versus the later ones is the inline 6. So many great luxury cars going back to at least early 60's had the inline 6 and for good reason. A v6 just isn't the same and likely not as smooth or sonorous. To be fair though, I haven't driven any other GS than my 2000 GS 300 which I've had since new. I do like the gens 3 and 4 body styles, but also not as much as gen 2.

Man, i grew up in this car, and soon ill be able to own a car of my own, definitely looking forward to buying this beauty. The problem is Serbia has a very small amount of Lexuses ,most of which are IS 220s, and not a lot of older ones. The car i grew up in was imported from UAE.Unfortunately, right hand drive cars are forbidden here now. My chances of driving this are very small and it's killing me. You may be the only youtuber giving this car the attention it deserves.Thumbs up for that!

Great video man... learned a few things. Update to Tip 8... you don’t have to go that far in the rear to unlatch the fuel door, if look behind the panel closer to the tail light on the same side, there SHOULD be a vinyl handle that if you pull will open the fuel door. So either way works but check to see if yours is there.

I bought a 1998 GS 400 with 178k from an auction for $1200. I drove is across country 2500 miles will no real problems. My mechanic informed me that rats are the engine knock wire and the vacuum switch valve harness, both of which triggered the CEL. During quarantine I’ve had the following replaced: knock sensors, spark plugs, vacuum switch valve connector, starter, rear breaks, and intake manifold gasket. This week I’m going to a salvage yard to pick up a trunk lid, rear bumper, rims from a 1st gen IS 300, and a side view mirror. I hope to be driving the Lexus soon. I’m proud to be a GS owner! The car is unmatched.

Curious to see if these tricks work on the JDM cars like Aristo, Altezza, Mark 2 and Crown. I'll try it out today.

I've had two GS300's 1 1999 and 1 2000 and the reason I've had two is because it truly is the best car ever made. And for under 10k for both who could complain?

One from me: If you press and hold the electric steering wheel adjustment button to extend to it's maximum position and then press the button 8 times it extends an extra 0.5inch. Same applies for the wheel going up or down.

Your content is amazing. I’m looking for a Lexus like this or even the ls430. How much you paid for it. If you don’t mind me asking

Thank you! Back in 2012 I paid $7K; it had 112k miles at the time.

@@ForwardMomentum funny thing is you paid 7k almost a decade ago for yours and its still worth 5k-6k NOW even with the additional miles .... Very hard to find an inexpensive pre-owned "premium" midsize sports sedan that you can buy cheap and it doesnt really depreciate any longer. Thats how it works for a nice example of ANY car. 1st. They loose value quickly (like all cars) 2nd. That depreciation slows almost to a halt ( its possible to sell a nice example for CLOSE to what you paid(used) 3rd eventually the values will go up up (Yeah I know DUH!! right?) But take notice that this DOES NOT happen to 80% of pre-owned autos It takes a Sexy/Timeless/ design and of course a strong track record/Reliable machine ect... For this to happen. So right now is the time to go grab one if you can ...I mean if NOTHING else the inline 6 3.0L 2jz under the hood will fetch $$$ (GS300)
