Jayden Thompson LOL this isnt a luxury. Its a bullshit feature that looks and sounds like it would be useful but science calls the ability where you can keep the brights on but it dims where the oncoming car is, total bullshit. Its still gonna be just as bright to the oncoming car as a normal car with brights on. But nobody credible is going to argue Ford over such a useless design aspect that was a waste of time. Automated everything is stupid first off. Second of, laws of physics say this is BS. But Ford gets to look like some great group of people completely reimagining the automobile.

I live in the mountains in California where there's no such thing as a straight road. I've yet to see an auto dimmer that works correctly on these roads. I've been dazzled by other driver's auto systems, and the cars I've owned (as new as 2020) were pretty bad so almost always shut off the auto system and flick the switch manually. I wonder if this technology would work any better.

+iKoyyy oh yeah.. one headlight = 500euros... Then automaker DOSENT sell the headlight as one unit but only a pair so you are forced to spend 1000eur only for one headlight that is damaged and needs to be replaced and so on... Of course its good that automakers progress, but the cost if you need to replace these highly sophisticated things(out of warranty) its just too high. And as we know modern car parts are made to work for warranty time, when car isnt in the warranty anymore, all hell breaks loose. (thats why im buying and driving 6+y.o. cars even thou i could afford a 'new' car)

I hope that this system works well. The problem i have is with the dipped headlight which can be manually raised and lowered. I say lowered because in many a situation I find myself in around town driving towards traffic lights or indeed stopped and their higher beam shines brightly into the saloon of my car and causes me some annoyance and driving discomfort. Perhaps we can have something that will reduce the height of the beam automatically when its shining into my rear view mirror and blinding me. Whilst on about lights.... rear lights that dazzle. We have all suffered it. When stopped say at lights etc many drivers stay in gear with the clutch in and the other foot on the brake and they wait and wait and wait untill the lights change. All that time they are showing three very bright rear brake lights that in the dark and/or poor weather conditions such as rain, make looking in front sometimes extremely difficult. Perhaps we need to instruct such drivers of there obligation to have consideration for other road users and also how to behave in this situation.. When waiting take the vehicle out of gear. and put on the handbrake wait until the lights change and then place the vehicle into gear and set off as per normal. Am I the only driver that does that. Its safer as in the first instance with the vehicle in gear [ automatics do this a lot]and the clutch held in if one is rear ended then the feet automatically come offboth the brakes and the clutch and the vehicle then goes into drive and drives forwards and collides with the vehicle in front or one being driving across it... If the vehicle is taken out of drive and with the handbrake put on then if hit from the rear the vehicle will be pushed forward far less distance and if sufficient space has been given which should have been given in the first place then no other vehicle is invloved. So there is no danger to anyone else.. Some drivers like to show brake lights when stopped and I can understand this and that they may feel comfortable with what they do but it as against the recommendations of the Highway Code and is certainly responsible for multiple collision that could otherwise, with a little though be avoided. If one is sitting at lights or in any traffic queue and sees a vehicle approching from behind then there is no reason why one cannot put the brake lights on or flash them to indicate your presence and that you are indeed stopped and draw that to the attention of the approaching driver. When that vehicle has stopped one then takes ones foot off the brake and all is well and no one is annoyed or cuased agravation or put into danger.

I drive a new model Kuga and have people flash at me all the time as they think I have my headlights on full beam! I can only assume that people just can't tell the difference when it comes to LED dipped and full beam... My car is brand new, I haven't touched or messed with the headlights and they are set to dip and heighten automatically. I thought there would be major lag on that type of system but tbh, my headlights normally dip quicker than I can react most of the time. Even still, I get people flashing me and going mental for having full beam on, even after I have manually dipped the headlights!!! People are just sensitive idiots. I'm actually tempted to just have them set to full beam all the time and see how people cope then! Genuinely, it is every second or third car that flashes me during night time driving. Also, I've gotten out and checked the headlights myself. There's a huge difference between dipped and full beam, let me tell you that! So damn annoying! I get dazzled by the people flashing me! Ironic much!?

Not the shutter part where you can keep your brights on while an incoming car is coming and it only darkens the area where the moving car going by is so it doesn't blind them.

how about no more daytime running lights. just have the lights, front AND back come on when the ignition engaged. DRL are a hazard as they illuminate the road ahead just enough that a poor driver doesnt realize they don't have lights on. from behind the vehicle is invisible. make it standard!!!!!

Don't know what 80s car you are driving bud but 99% of cars made today have instant lights..... Since like 2001 every vehicle is standard with lights that are automatically on... Pre 2000 yes, you had to turn on lights like I do in my 98 k1500

i've had auto-lights since 2005 on *MY* car(s). but those are different (and my fave car feature) The DRL i refer to are the lights that are always on (dimly) in front but not in back. ppl driving at night see a little illumination on the road an assume lights are on, but coming at them from behind they're a complete blanket of darkness.

@@hasty-carnaage1518 no they don't. My brand new Kuga only has small LED lights on during the day. If it turns foggy or really bad rain, my car would effectively be invisible from behind. Especially since its black. You have to specifically set it to have all lights come on automatically on startup and then that includes headlights being dipped and full beam! It isn't standard for all lights to turn on automatically and in most cars, if this is a feature, it needs to be set manually by, in my case, turning the lights dial to automatic headlights. Most people won't even realise their car has this option and instead drive down the road, thinking they have all lights on when in fact they are totally invisible from behind! See it almost every day during the winter in Scotland! I've nearly been through the back of someone during really heavy rain on the motorway because they didn't have lights on! It's a joke. This shouldn't be an option, it should just be standard for all cars to have lights turn on upon startup!

@@thevoicewithin9845 must be a regulation thing. every vehicle in america post 2002 has auto lights. Right on the center on the dash for most cars have a small light sensor that often kicks the headlights on when driving in a tree dense area at noon(very sensitive). Ive never driven a vehicle that is manual lights thats newer than 2000. Even alot of my 90s vehicles ive owned or driven still had auto lights. Last manual light vehicle i drove was my dads old truck which was a 1991 gmc sierra.

No good if the other road user doesn't have headlights on to tell the offending vehicle to dip its lights. How many pedestrians, cyclists, or considerate drivers have headlights, either at all, or when they don't need them? A nice feature, but its claims are over-stated
