Great interview. Biggest takeaway: BE MORE. Be more of who you are at your best. It's not enough to burn yourself out focusing on what more can you do. There's value in doing the deep inner work to understand who you are, your philosophy, and what your life will look like on the path to being a living example of that.

"Weve come to believe we must do more to be more. And it's fundametally broken. The idea is we need to be more and let the doing flow from that place, be your authentic self, be here and now, grateful & present and let the doing flow from that orientation." 13:19

"The tactic alone is not enough, it is the stitching of the tactic and the stitching of the mental skills training to each other and to one's personal philosophy. Without a personal philosophy, we end up trying all these things to get better, but what are we getting better at? What other people want us to be?"

Some people are very clear on who they are, some people spend a life time trying to figure it out, some people never do. I am very aware of who I am, but that's the thing he talks about, being able to define it in a simple, clear and constant manner that's the hard thing. I loved this interview so much and it goes to the core of what is really important for us as human beings.

I've been studying to clear an exam that would get me into residency to specialize in Orthopedic Surgery. I've had problems with consistency regarding hard work and I've never been able to figure out why. This video seems to be a great way to start focusing on the issue and get started with working on how to solve the problem. I like to think I'm pretty driven but this video has opened up a whole new perspective for me! Thank you for such an amazing podcast, gentlemen. Inspiration-packed video !!

Omg so many!!!! And even though I know these things and educate myself all the time and try to teach them too, the biggest take aways are for me that: "the moment is now", we all have to invest in mindfulness and practice to quite our minds. Furthermore, I loved his example with the "who I really am" part, made me think about my own philosophy and vision - from clarity, training the mind, to conviction. Amazing!!!! And yes, I fully agree that we have to write our thoughts down, because they are invisible! We have to increase our awareness of what is happening in our minds and pay attention to our self-talk. Plus, when he brought up Felix Baumgartner, it blew my mind!!! And many mooore, I made so many notes of this interview! Thank youuu so much Lewis.

I found out my philosophy, or at least one thing that made it easier was to identify my core values. I did this by thinking of creating a secret society or service organization, and thought deeply and repeatedly about what kind of people would I really want to join my society? What kind professions would they in, would it be open to people of any profession long as they agreed and emulated the main values? What would our goals and overall vibe be when people talked about us, and what kind of things would we do to leave a legacy behind? Then I kind of drew a symbol for it to help me to remember the values. I then try to be the kind of person who would be allowed to join my organization. The values follow a sequence but they all support and reinforce each other in multiple directions, though I still think courage is the foundation of being able to emulate the other values. Going into your fears and facing them is the surest way to progress I think through the other values. Courage > integrity > friendship > social justice > cleverness > kindness > freedom. I think deep down we all really want freedom, but it starts with having courage, and takes you through the other value experiences. All other values and abilities be tested over and over again, but courage is at the base of being honest, finding friends, doing what's fair, learning new skills, and being humble and kind/compassionate with others. Some other traditions would compare the courage to faith, because it's that spirit to do something that needs to be done when maybe it feels like all the odds are against you, but I guess I didn't call it faith because I don't mean for my society to be like a religion, but more like a monthly support/activity group. If I got a tattoo of anything, it would probably be that symbol, but I don't like extra pain. X'D
