Colleen ya I’m assuming he’s rigging it as heavily custom this game is. At least the things done by him not the draws by Yesper. Still nothing wrong with rigging the cards for a better experience.

@@reedk2402 Victor was my party’s ally. Besides the cats, he was solely responsible for driving Stella Wachter mad by using mind controlling magic on her repeatedly. He was a terrible person, but he was also very powerful and if the party wanted to succeed at defeating Strahd, they had to embrace the moral greyness that is Barovia. They ended up loving Victor because he was an asshole, but in a very matter of fact way that made for a lot of amusing interactions. Lol. He’s actually my favorite NPC I have ever run now. He became a lich using knowledge from the amber temple and is now a time travelling planes-hopper that appears in all of my campaigns. XD.

Great campaign! Although every time the Church of the Ruby Rod was mentioned, all I heard in my head was that high-pitched voice of Ruby Rhod from the movie The Fifth Element.

This had to be the most chaotic episode of High Rollers I've seen so far and I loved it. So many great hilarious moments but Yesper's "why don't you make a deal with them" killed me the most :D

I hear "Ruby Rod" and I can't help but think of The Fifth Element anymore. Asmodeus would have looked at the moment when Xiiki fell in front of the skeleton and been, "Oh FFS! This mess was cleaned up 5 minutes ago, can't you just keep it clean for 5 minutes?"

Even knowing D&D lore as I do hasn't made me immune to that. I remember playing the video game based on the film and the phrase "Unbe-lievable!" is still etched in my brain. And truth be told I hated that character with a passion. Chris Tucker is funny but Ruby Rhod just gets on my last nerve.

At the start of the combat at the Inn. Xiros went first, then xiiki, then the skeleton, then the priest. Then xiiki missed a go. I was waiting for her to disengage and step away from the bone man but because she missed her go, shit really hit the fan!

Hey Mark, along the theme of slight adjustments, if time travel were to happen during the campaign, it could be highly intriguing if you somehow traveled to a time where the Shadowweave was still in place. Considering the cleric in the party, and the fact that the weave already works differently in Barovia, it could be very intriguing indeed

Odd question. Can you bargain with a soul that’s not yours? He made a deal that the price was two souls but how does he have the right to sell her soul?

In standard Christian tradition - No. No one can bargain away the soul of another -- But I think the GM and all the players know that also. They are just having fun.

That is one of those things that I always found odd. You normally can't make a deal for someone else's soul without their consent but you CAN sacrifice someone's soul without their consent. It's a weird thing.

Yep. Mark working the deals to set the Chaos Twins at cross purposes was a master stroke. And don't feel too bad. Spoilers abound and I have to take a second to sort what I've figured out and things I've heard over time about Castle Ravenloft.

Xiiki went first. Bones double moved to close with Xiiki, then got grappled then went again to attack her? She could have disengaged and dashed away before the bones next turn. wtf?

It wasn't a good deal but they were the only terms on offer. The whole point is that it was an act of desperation. I just don't vibe with the idea that Asmodeus can work this deal without actually providing what is asked for. Granted the deal that he seems to have made set everything in motion but it doesn't feel satisfying. Of course that's par for the course with the father of lies. Still you'd think the Dark Powers would balk and essentially doing their opponents dirty work.

Andral made an attack, which immediately broke the sanctuary spell that had just been cast on him. Don't know if this was all intentional, or if Mark just immediately forgot about the sanctuary spell, but the whole thing was a bit of a mess of forgotten and incorrect rules.

She could've also used her Favored by the Gods ability there since it triggers when you fail a saving throw. I know it's on Rhi to remember and know her abilities, but you're going to end up killing her again Mark!

Idk how Xiros thought using his sword in that situation wouldn't have done exactly what it did... even if the "opponent" wasn't flimsy, he had no idea of the actual strength of his new weapon in character. A shove then grapple would've been enough
