Things I didn't have time to talk about/draw but wanted to mention: -when the curtains fell during intermission we liked to dance goofily in the dark right on the stage to get rid of the stage fright jitters in preparation for act 2 haha -group trip to Denny's after the last day of the shows. Every time.

That is an interesting way of solving the issue. Wouldn't have work in my elementary school because it was a private Christian school and my high schools had plenty of guys interested in the theatre and arts. Still, I have seen girls play guy roles because we had a lot more girls in our year. One year, the Christmas pageant had three girls (I was one of them) playing the Three Kings.

I agree, theatre is really a good extra-curricular activity (even for those who does not like acting/performing). I just wanted to say that theatre is not limited to performing alone. (I was part of a mini-theatre production in our school once; a stage manager to be precise). For those who has stage fright or bad at acting (like me), you can always try backstage roles like director, stage manager, dramaturg, production designer, etc. They are a bit overlooked per se.

Seeing someone else enjoy theatre and talking about it is really awesome. As a fellow stage actor I and can say that the anxiety and pain that is involved with acting is just like your experience. It really brings a smile to my face to see someone talking about acting in this way. Though I late to comment on this, it awesome to see. Keep up the great videos, my favorite KZfaqr 🥹.

I go to a large school with a VERY competitive drama program, and very soon I’ll be attending another school with an even more competitive one. Already, the current cast I’m in is about 60 people, and about 70 were cut. Theatre is something I’m very passionate about and I highly reccomend trying it, I just hope to soon get a larger role in a production (possibly in a less competitive program lol)

I can relate so hard to this one. I took theater just recently in my senior year - and it was the best decisions I had ever made. I started on tech crew but decided to audition for the last show of the year. Also can’t believe how similar the dropout experience was - We also had a dropout… except that mine had 3 dropouts. It was definitely an experience to pick up extra roles but we made it through.

No way, you did Comedy of Errors! I did too! We combined it with Loves Labors Lost as a two week intensive during the summer. Yeah, we learned everything in two weeks and then performed at the end. I was cast at the Governor's Wife. What you described for the scene where Antipholus threatens to claw out Adrianna's eyes sounds a lot like how it was directed in my production. The more we practiced it, the angrier and more intense it got. I think it really added to things. The rest of the play is really hilarious, and then you get this, where things are suddenly very real.

Those things are pretty rigged, aren't they? A bunch of kids each has to cater to the same audience with not much of a way to make their stuff more appealing to buy since IIRC you can neither change the price nor the product sold, so you can only really get ahead (and get the prizes for selling a certain amount) by buying your own product, not to mention the fact that 8-year-old kids don't exactly get their own money to spend so they have to ask their parents, further reducing your audience, so unless you try to cater to a different audience by selling to the public (which your parents might not approve of and is hard to do) you can't really do much to fundraise other than, as I said, buy your own stock.

I was in a Shakespeare play before, so I know how hard it is to learn. We also had someone who didn't show up a lot, but that was mainly because he couldn't, and yet he was amazing during the show along with being a main character for one of the 3 groups (We were doing Midsummer Nights Dream, so there's a lot going on). Theatre is a blessing and it gives you so many skills that can help you in life. Thank you for sharing your theatre experience!

My drama teacher was a very nature-loving hippie esque type. She'd take students out hiking to pick mushrooms and forage in the woods! I gifted her a mug with mushrooms on it that i found in a second hand store- she adored it and used it every day the rest of the time i went to school ^^ when i had the flu she even came to my dorm room with ginger and honey tea- and during covid i was the only one she hugged goodbye. She helped me through some tough times and i miss her a lot 🥲 i might pay her a visit when i graduate uni(that i only got into because she was supporting me)

I was casted as the lead in my first play ever in 6th grade. It was absolutely terrifying, especially since my other cast mates were all in 7th or 8th grade, and they all wanted the role.
