My new high voltage isolation SMD to THT conversion PCB's finally arrived after the Chinese new year was over. I also give a small update on the concepts that I am working on. Field implosion!

Do the epoxy of the smd chip with the chip upside down on double stick tape so it will be steady then apply the epoxy to the bottom of the chip use a jig to get the board placement right, then gravity should flow the epoxy through the pins and downward away from the board soldier pads.

Very nice work! I like the epoxy isolation. I like the way you put out the interpretation of the phenomena at the beginning. I do think along those lines too. Very very interresting!

I used to bench work with heat gun to correct misplaced chips, the heat gun is what you need to solder that with... little pricey but makes flawless solders , maybe find one used for 300$

Best Tesla info yet. Great work. The jigsaw starts to be put together. Putting dielectric first is our starting point. We have been too focused on the magnetic. It can be compared to saying a magnet only has a North pole only. ... Regards.. DC

Right! exactly. Dielectric field. electro static (when resonant coil is at max voltage and current is zero). Rapid change of the electro static field, caused by voltage impulses

Solder both sides first but with paper underneith smd . Remove paper and surround smd with blue tac. Drip some epoxy in and maybe even cover the whole smd for even higher voltage insulation .

Make it easy on yourself. Flux a bare board. Tin the IC pads with small even solder bumps. reflux board and IC. Hold IC in place with tweezers on pads and tack down IC with a clean tipped iron. Clean board with flux remover. Cheap, quick, easy!

I need epoxy for high voltage isolation

@@MasterIvo I understand the need for isolation. Try this. Tin pads first. Clean board. Mix small amount of epoxy. Apply epoxy sparingly, with needle tip painting it on on board around the pads. Place IC on board with leads centered on pads. Let assembly cure. After curing solder leads on IC. Finally use a Qtip "dampened" not wet, with alcohol to clean solder points on board. Then seal assembly in bubble free epoxy. (Take your time.)

sounds good. I wanted to let the epoxy dry before soldering, but it covered the pads. thats why I proceeded with soldering. In the end I probably resort to opto isolation, just need a work around for the isolated dc power on the gate side. Battery works but in the end need to be charged.

Hi Ivo, if the voltage becomes to high and arcs over can an gate driver transformer be used instead or does it have limitations. I know you mentioned optocouplers so i thought maybe other alternatives might be viable .

Yeah, first introduction to SMT is initially intimidating yet with practice, it becomes as natural as Though-Hole (with the proper tools and patience). After a while, you’ll discover to ‘tack’ solder one leg and the opposing leg once the package is centered on the pads, firming it for soldering the other legs. A good quality liquid flux makes all solder flow for a pro solder-flow finish. Also, a ‘chisel-blade’ tip is the most universal for SMT as it has a fine point for tiny to a side-edge for larger solder area coverage ranges in one tip. Acetone is a good flux remover, as in Fingernail Polish Remover, inexpensive and usually easy to find. By-The-Way: Excellent work with the SMT daughter-board design.

Hi Ivo, I need your advice on IGB drivers. There are full bridge and half bridge drivers out in the market; which one is good to use. Thank you in advance.
@MasterIvo
@MasterIvo 3 жыл бұрын
depends on what use. For impulse generation use half bridge. You can try if IGBT drivers works, but I designed the radiant half bridge pcb for this. For impulse generation IGBT's dont work. you need mosfet for that.

I don't expect an exact answer but I don't even have an "in the ballpark" estimate. In your research the "Dead time" is critical. Let's say I was generating 2x pwm signals and wanted to capitalize on the big spikes. What kind of phase offset helps facilitate this? If 1% dead time is required for a 500khz signal. Period of 500khz = 1/500 khz = 2e-6 S= 2uS 2uS/100 = 20nS Would the phase offset in time for a 1% dead time of 2 500Khz signals driving the have bridge then be 20nS? 1% dead time will obviously be different for different resonant operating frequencies and I'm wondering if my thinking is ok. I guess I'm confused about the switching time requirements and concerned with latency iff (logical if and ONLY if) I need to generate 2 phase offset signals AND ALSO time a 3rd time and latency sensitive on/off. Otherwise I'm probably self sabotaging by overthinking.
@MasterIvo
@MasterIvo 3 жыл бұрын
almost right. phase is 180 degrees, so you want half a period, 1us, 1% is 10nS. But for the biggest spikes, I switched them simultaneously! so the both get the same signal. this is for the advancement of the Radiant power circuit (see latest community post on my KZfaq channel)

What is ether?
@MasterIvo
@MasterIvo 2 жыл бұрын
Good question. There are many answers. but none give a definite answer. chi, prana, the fabric of the universe, the fabric of life, spirit, the base material for the magnetic field. that what in the bible is called spirit. but maybe more interesting is to know that it has a counterpart. In electric power we deal with 2 elements, the magnetic and dielectric fields. it has been tought both are Aether fields. But that might be wrong. it seems the dielectric field (voltage) is not only interacting with Aether, but also consist of something else, called Koronium or Electrigen we know Aether must exist. but we don't know what it is.

@@MasterIvo It is difficult to solder those, I have a technique I came up with I have not seen anyone else use. I use a bottle with a syringe tip and drop a little flux on one pin. clean the soldering tip well and get a small drop of solder on it. then just heat the one pin. if it is not straight just heat that pin again and move the part with your finger or tweezers till it's straight. then I do the opposite side pin and then the rest the same way. I can make a small video for you if you want to see it? I would love the chance to help you if I can. Love your video's keep up the great work!

@@MasterIvo MG Chemicals Rosin Flux RA type flux, it is liquid. it also says #835-100ML. I use a cheap Chinese dispensing bottle with a syringe needle. I get them through ally express. you can use a syringe but I find better control with the bottle. if you get too much flux on the board it doesn't matter. I just clean with alcohol. but I try for just right. be very sparing with the amount of solder you put on the welder tip. too much will bridge the pins. I run iron at 350C. I use Whizzo Tech solder Sn60Pb40, flux W-416, 0.8mm. I get it on Amazon. soldering the surface mount parts didn't take long to learn this way. I ran into problems bringing cold solder to the pins, it just made a mess with too much solder. and like I said if you would like to see a video I will make one and post it. no problem. Have fun and good luck!
