A lot of people complain about the sheath not holding the knife very secure, that if you shake it upside down, the knife will fall out. Mine did the same thing. I took a blow dryer and heated up the upper part of the sheath for about a minute then pressed it down and ran it under cold water. Took about 2 minutes total. Now the knife is very secure in the sheath.

I’m so glad I have the older version. Any Mora is a great knife and I have both, but the longer blade and the handle of the classic bears everything. And just got to the part where you mention the handle. Yes…so true. The new one is like “knives for beginner.”

Now is 2:28 AM. I live in a house under construction with my dog and only a wood stove and internet (and pc). You make me company with your video on Morakniv!! that is one of my very favorite knives. What I have found works best for the handle retention is some 1/8" bungee cord tied in a loop in the belt clip then pulled over the knife handle or you can use a hair bungee. super cheap and very effective. thanks for posting Dave.

The first time I got my Pro Robust knife, the initial reaction I got from everyone was about how short the blade was. This might be because they're used to seeing me with my Camillus ka-bar knife. I love that knife, but I'm always looking for other useful knives to try. The handle is very comfortable to hold and I like the quillons at the top and the bottom. Most people complain about this feature on knives but this is the first thing I look for on a knife. I would hate to see my hand slip over the blade on a rainy camping day and split my fingers open. That's why I back away from bushcraft knives without any type of quillons. Another thing people complain about is how the sheath is not able to hold the knife under certain conditions. Well, unless you fall off a cliff, it's not easy to get the knife out of it and a simple modification solves this problem as well. A very useful and sharp knife in my opinion. Great video.

Greatings from the South Towns. For the original Mora Robust atleast the belt clip fits perfectly in MOLLE/PALS Webbing. I made a small slit to divide the belt clip into 2 "prongs". It makes removal from MOLLE a little easier. I've read you can heat form some plastic Mora sheaths, that will be my next attempt at a mod.

Okay brother I got the new one on accident but I like it anyways ya just can't beat 15$ for such a great blade. This being my first Mora and my first scandi grind I'm officially hooked. I've been carving with it for a week now and holy cow these things eat wood, no wonder you like them so much. All my other knives feel like broken tools now, I'm definitely going to get a convex grind on all them LOL maybe even buy a work sharp. The way they cut is a no brainer it really feels great thanks for all your reviews and making me a new Mora believer. For anyone on the fence go buy one use it you won't be disappointed;)

Okay I have officially put both Robust to the test, after carving for 4hrs straight...".UGH yes my thumb's are toast today" I found that the new pro is much more controllable then the old HQ. BUT IMHO they should have kept the more narrow tip of the HQ, each knife has its place and I love them both. The handle on the older version is so comfortable it's sad that Mora is not making them anymore, it feathersticks so nice what an awesome blade. I used to think there could be no big difference between all these Mora's to me they all pretty much look the same, clearly thats not the case. I cant wait to buy another one:-) and since they're so cheap it makes collecting them a blast!

New to the channel love the info my mora pro robust will arrive in the mail today . Mora has cured me my anything under 100$ isn't worth it they provide the best quality vs price in the world love the.

I have taken a small piece of duct tape running on the inside of the sheaths and it helps with retention.

Never liked the old Robust handle, as you know :) But I am probably the only one with that opinion. Ha ha. You getting better and better in pronouncing Morakniv, my good friend! Love the Mora Mondays. The Companion HD in carbon has the same specs as the Robust HQ did. So we still have the knife, just not in the grey color. It also costs four bucks more.

Great review. I am trying to decide what to get. I have plenty of good blades, and I love the discontinued Kershaw Antelope and Bear Hunter knives, but would like to have an actual Mora. I found a good deal on the Robust Pro, I just hope it fits my hand.

The first Mora I bought was the Pro Robust and was nearly put off Mora's permanently. I got it from a bad online store in the UK (Sp****fields). They had promised to package the item for posting and not just throw it in a Jiffi bag as I'd had knives rip through Jiffi bags in the past. They just threw the knife in a Jiffi bag, posted it and didn't answer my emails. The knife looked like a return with nicks in the blade and quite dull. A friend told me most Mora's are like that and that is why they're so cheap so I kept it. I got most of the nicks out, sharpened up the blade and it's been a good knife ever since. I've bought from reputable places like the The Bu***raftstore since and Mora's come undamaged and super sharp. I'm glad I kept it, it's a great little backpacking knife, light, tough and a great little work horse though I won't be buying from Sh**fields again!

I do have 2 of the (classic) Mora Craftline Robust and both have a finished 90 degree spine on them. The thinner Craftline series do not however. I do agree with this new 'Craftline' series did they look at the Hultafors knives both blade and handle shape. Good observation. Nice review.

HighCarbonSteel Love I did some searching online and sadly I did have trouble finding the exact type of carbon steel the Mora Robust uses (The classic to be specific). I admit that is a very huge pet peeve of mine if I go to buy a new knife for my collection, but after seeing the tests done on it by DutchBushCraftKnives I bought it no problem. But seeing your video really does help me appreciate that knife from a spectators point of view before it ships to my house, I really do appreciate how you took your time to explain the knives, sheath, and various methods to get around some of the knifes flaws, the sheaths flaws, or the all in one flaws. That and you weren't just talking, you actually showed us using the knives in action, very well done buddy, very well done. Also, what kind of patina did you use on the blade? I heard from someone that lives in Sweden that their common work pants have a button on the leg and the Moras all attach to them. Its like Swedish carpenter pants;)

To fix the sheat retention issues, the best solution is carefully applying heat, for example with an electric heater. The case will be tender, then flatten until the retention is the correct. It worked for me 100%

i use a heat gun on tge sheath and squeeze it after it is hot and it will fix the retention problem

I find the Companion's handle much more ergonomic. I find the Craftline handles to be somewhat uncomfortable. Just doesn't seem to fit my hand.

Say Heah Dave, I learned that if you boil your apple vinegar you could actually see the bubbles come off the blade when your putting the patina on it, Don't boil the knife in the vinegar, but boil the vinegar to boil, then put the blade in the hot vinegar. It seems to work better. I also ordered the Mira Kansbol, and the Eldris as a neck knife. The green matches my Fox Bushcraft Parang quite nicely. But so does my Mora 2000. But I also have my Cold Steel 3V Master Hunter. Oh, on the side if my Bushcraft Parang, on both sides of the Sheath it has elastic loops, so I put my 6" Ferro Rid I got from Eugene, and it fits perfectly, on the other side, I put the Glow Stick the knife came with, How Kewl is that. But yeah, Now at least I had a reason to buy the Mora Kansbol and the Eldris.,,.

Thanks for the tip that the new sheath would let the older round button sheath clip to it but not vis-a-versa. Dont know why they didn't just stick with a round button. I have both the pro robust and the high Q, prefer the high Q handle slightly. The only time I would piggy back is around camp with the small stainless mora for food process or gathering muscles off the rocks at the beach for bait. Stainless deals with the salt environment better. I have had some luck tightening up the sheath retention by heating with a hair dryer then press in were the two internal tension ridges are and holding until cool, or just run some cold water over it. You have to look inside the sheath and you will see to thin strips about 3/4" long aligned with the top and bottom of the knife, these just need to be adjusted closer. Seems to stay after adjustment for quit a while. Keep up the good work.

I have come to learn that the carbon steel that Mora uses allot, while comparable to 1095, is actually a steel called C10. In case anyone is as big of a nerd about that stuff as I am. hahaha

Man it's NOT 1095. Unnecessary patina... In europe it's uncomun to use 1095... usually is more H55 or N690 with is comparable to 1095 but it's a stainless steel.
