I really like how there is specific protection for the engine block. If a pedestrian tried to hit his head on the engine block, the boot lid will raise and hence protect your expensive engine.

This may be (ever so) slightly off topic, but I discovered a useful move on my 2010 XJ that may work with XFs too. When in auto mode D if you touch the gear paddles you are immediately in a manual (gear hold) mode. If you carry on driving and ignore this there is an auto return to full automatic mode after a short period of time but if you wish to return to full auto straight away after using manual, pull the RHS paddle (gear up) and hold for two seconds. I was using the selector dial to return to auto before I found this useful short cut. Maybe you have already found this one yourself. Great video, as always, you're a true gent!

Thanks Stephen, I was going to feature this in my upcoming video - but I didn't know about the holding of the + button for two seconds (its not in the XF manual) - merely shifting into N and back into D on the fly brings it back to auto mode. But thanks for this info, I'm sure many people will find it helpful ;-)

I love this, had a couple things I didn't know my 2010 XF-R. It also does a few other things that have not been included but I dont know if it is specific to R models

LoL Thanks Andy - it gets a wax every two months just make sure that paint keeps shimmering :-) Since its a British car, it SHOULD have tea in the rear armrest whereas the Rolls has Champagne :-D

Mick Douglas Hey Mick. I take it you're referring to the Electronic Park Brake? The EPB works pretty much like a switch. It's either on or off. Your car should throw a code if the system is faulty, but if the button itself is faulty I'd recommend getting a spare from a breaker's yard and replacing it. It shouldn't be expensive used. eBay should have them listed too. Let us know how that issue goes. I guess I'm lucky because I haven't experienced any issues some guys have on the forums.

Hey Gabriel, I changed my grill out for a piano black one. Got it on eBay for a really good price. The hood airbag thing is getting a little ridiculous... There is so much extra bullshit on a car today and yet we wonder why they cost so much. Good video none the less.

Thanks bro, yeah the pedestrian airbag is a Eurocentric safety element required to get 5 stars on Euro NCAP, and despite that, the XF didn't get 5 stars, it got 4 - only because it didn't have autonomous braking for jaywalking idiots.

@@carfanfan Yeah that was the same BS that sunk the E55 wasn't enough room between the supercharger and the hood, so they put the 6.2 L in it, while they developed the new 5.5 liter twin turbo for the now E63. Gov't ... gotta love them...

It's a custom steering wheel cover I bought on Aliexpress. Genuine leather and cut to fit the XF. It looks OEM which is why I chose it and it feels great.

I know right? Why protect idiots jaywalking in the path of your Jag? :D I'd be really pissed if I hit some jaywalking idiot and totalled my car as a result while he walks off without a scratch.
