I like many of the Hinderer models; the Jurassic, the Halftrack, etc. The problem is that, in reality, the modularity of the knives only works for the XM-18. Finding hardware and scales for the other models is very difficult. The variety and availability of parts for the 3.5" XM-18 far surpasses any of the other models. For this reason I stay on XM-18s

Thanks MC! So exciting to see my knife on your show. You did a great job highlighting the quirks that make this such a collectible Hinderer. I actually picked this up for $499 brand new, so I think you would agree that’s a steal. I still feel this is the best looking Hinderer ever made. Thanks again

Like you, I am a Hinderer super-fan. The MP1 has been on my list but the 1K price here in Canada had caused me to wonder if it’s worth the money. I’m thinking not but am curious about your opinion.

Agreed. $1k is too much. Great knife for around $500 - $600 though

I don’t/can’t have a dedicated knife pocket. RF: keys, change, knife, LF: phone, LR: wallet, RR: nothing, usually. I carry a pry bar in a jacket pocket. I’d LOVE to have a dedicated knife pocket, if I didn’t have to give up another pocket to get it!

Im sure Hinderer will revamp this model at some point. Hopefully with different blade shapes. Then again if I were to pick up a non XM-18 Hinderer it would definitely be the eklipse because of my love for the ZT0392.

Hi Metal detailed review.Great job! Totally unfamiliar with this knife. XM 18 3.5 thumb studs on my wish list,after my large Inkosi tanto comes in some day.Have hard time getting knives I want.Have fun all. Glad ur feeling better.

I love my Mp-1. I was lucky enough to find one in the second market to save a little. My only complaint is that there is so little as far as after market parts. From what I’ve heard there are no plans in the future for any either.

Hey MC, hope this finds you and your well:)) quick question? If I had a standard XM-18 in S35VN and were call Hinderer knifes and say hi I'd like to up grade my Blade to S45VN could I just buy a blade from them instead of buying a whole new knife?

As far as I know, they won't sell blades individually because each lock face and bar is SLIGHTLY different, and they make sure that each one locks up safely. So unfortunately no, you would have to buy a whole new knife.

I have to admit, I want one, but I want full Ti. If that means nylon washers, so be it! I wonder, if I could find phosphor bronze washers the same size as the nylons, could I make a direct swap? If or when I get one, and I DO want one, I might try that!

Actually, most of the knives I review are in stock. But im a knife reviewer, not a knife salesman. Im not here specifically to sell you something. I review knives I find interesting whether they're available or not.
