Half-stops aren't necessarily an indicator of quality. Rough Ryders and some Victorinox have them. It's just a matter of preference. If the tang end is squared off, you will feel the half stop as it clicks into place with the backspring. If it is rounded off, there will be no half stop it should feel smooth all the way through closing.

The more I look at this the more I kinda want it! Not gonna lie though I wish they had done a different, more modern steel with a vintage style finish but the O1 mixes things up a little and definately fits with the theme. Good video as always man!

yay, a hinderer that I can legally carry (with pre-prepared "reasonable excuse" )rather than only in the cabinet and I never knew they came in such a classic look ! the walnut and dark blade are superb looking, could the slippy be my first ? yes, I think it could. great review M.C

Have you thought about reviewing boker’s new line of otfs? They just released the kwaiken otfs and should be releasing the usb shortly. It seems like you have a good sense for automatics so I would very much value your opinion.

The thumb stub/tab should've been a clear indicator of why there isn't a half stop on this design, it's better to not have a strong half stop for a smooth motion when opening one handed. Half stops are not at all necessary you should never be closing any knife slip joint or otherwise with your fingers in the way of the blade. Some of us can't carry locking knives due to pathetic oversteps of law, and this is a perfect choice for us. And being a slip joint doesn't take away any function as a knife, I use slip joints for hard work all the time and it's all about technique. Locks have spoilt a lot of people and let them keep bad knife user habits, I can pierce, I can dig/drill holes or anything else a locking knife can do simply by directing the pressure slightly toward the back spring while doing so. Locks can fail I've had it happen and you never know when it's going to let go, I've never had a slip joint close on me and injure me, because you stop as soon as you feel the blade begin to close when a lock knife let's go it normally slams down onto your fingers without warning.

Yeah I've all but given up on trying to get a hinder it seems like every single time I try to get one the only thing available the exact ones I don't want..... I mean it's totally on me but I don't want to use the one and after a year of trying I'm at the point where the Intrigue and excitement of the Chase is completely faded now borders on total loss of Interest!? Hell maybe it's a sign I should just be happy with my generic production collaboration models, or maybe it's telling me to bust out the Dremel and try to fit the custom differences on the production models

They've really only recently become somewhat difficult to get. I've been chasing and buying Hinderer knives for 7 years. They aren't that hard to get a hold of if you sign up for the newsletter on the Hinderer knives website, and the newsletters of various Hinderer authorized retailers (list available on Hinderer's website). If you're chasing something from the past, join the "Hinderer Knived B/S/T" group on FB. New stuff for sale daily. I've always kept myself updated with these few easy steps and I've never missed a drop. Hopefully this will help you find the one you're after.

Hinderer have said that disassembling this knife voids the warranty. I'm not ok with knives that cost so much that the company doesn't allow you to take care of yourself.
@CNYKnifeNerd
@CNYKnifeNerd 3 жыл бұрын
If you have the ability to dis/reassemble a slipjoint (or any knife, really) then you have the ability to do it so the manufacturer will never know it's even been done. That disclaimer, to me anyway, has always been to prevent stupid people making stupid warranty claims. Coming from Hinderer, a company that literally encourages their buyers to disassemble their knives, that fact is even more obvious.
