Come with me as I explore a cycling loop near Chesnee, South Carolina. It's the Cowpens National Battlefield, and it's an important part of the story of the founding of America. The Battle of Cowpens was a turning point for the American Revolution. And it's available today for you to enjoy as a bike trail while you also brush up on your history. The visitors center and historic farmhouse are not to be missed. But the star of this show is the battlefield loop, where you can enjoy a pleasant, peaceful ride. We also visit a CRAZY roadside diner in Chesnee, filled with a sizable collection of pop culture memorabilia.
I'm Scott. I explore, review and rate bike trails on this channel...and hopefully find a little joy in the journey. Thanks for watching!

That last part is something you watched in the 70's while listening to Pink Floyd. Thanks for the history refresher coarse. They were men back then!

I love SC history, especially the under-appreciated victories that drove the British to Va where they lost. Thanks for the video. Loved the historical insight. Also, looks like a great little bike trail!

Yep… It’s not for the people who love the bridge and the tunnels and the abstract art installations… But it has its own unique appeal. A sobering reminder.

Great video! I ride (and run) at Cowpens for my Ironman triathlon training. No cars = safe and restrooms! I have ridden 100 mile training rides several times there. Lots of loops 😂😂😂

Wow! ‘Round and ‘round and ‘round you go! I’ve only been there twice, but both times the traffic was very light.

Was looking for 4 stars, but only got 3..but I'm alittle bias, I'm a history buff. Great video .

I understand. I really respect it as a historical site… But the three stars was just my honest assessment of it as a bike trail. But I get it…

Actually early September. I’ve been sitting on the footage for a while because I had heard that you can’t videotape in national parks anymore without risking being fined or even jailed, and this place is run by the national park service. But I gave them a phone call and they said they felt like I would be OK to post this. Fingers crossed!

I rode the Green River road once because my seat post broke. I was not about to ride the other twp miles seating on my rear rack. But no one said anything. I notice you didn't to the Graveyard. @11:48 - I have past that place hundreds of time. It never crossed my mind to stop there. I don't really like Themed Cafe...But I might give it a try next time. I always stop at the Roadside BBQ Truck on by way back towards Gaffney.

@@joyfultrails I know, There was diner similar in Bessemer City named "Jiggers". Great scenery ,But with my ADS , I found too distracting. They even had seat designed as 57 Chevys. My Wife loved it , But it was too much for me. But I may check it at least once.

3 miles is pretty short. I would prefer longer distances in the 20 to 50 mile range.

Well, it’s a loop…so you can just go around and around! No, seriously… I think most people visit this place more for the history than for the bike trail.
