Ethiopia is a well-known country within the bible.
The Ethiopian/Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church has gone through many trials and tribulations to be where it is at right now.
Knowing the foundation of the EOTC will help us cherish and become stronger in our relationship with the church and our faith.
We discuss:
1. The multiple councils formed to establish the church/faith
2. The many leaders that came into power
3. The change brought to the Ethiopian/Eritrean OTC along with the incoming leaders.

The Council of Chalcedon was in the year 451, and the Council with St Dioscoros was orthodox and he is a saint of the Orthodox Tewahedo Church. I think you got the Council of Chalcedon and the life of St Dioscoros kind of backwards. I recommend everyone read the synaxarium of the day 7 Meskerem, where you will see the true story of St Dioscoros and his trials to defend the Tewahedo faith against the persecution of the Roman Empire
@miafisitadan9133
@miafisitadan9133 3 жыл бұрын
From the synaxarium in the day of 7 Meskerem of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church: "On this day died the holy and blessed father Abba Dioscoros, Archbishop of Alexandria; now he was the twenty-fifth archbishop of that city. His death took place on the island of Gagra after a great debate about the Orthodox Faith at the Council, which the Emperor Marcianus (A.D. 450-457), the denier of Christ, had convened and to which he had summoned him. And when he arrived there he saw a great assembly containing six hundred and thirty bishops. And Saint Dioscoros said, “In what is the Faith lacking that it is necessary to gather this great assembly because of the Faith?” And they said unto him, “This assembly hath been convened by the emperor’s command.” And Dioscoros said unto them, “If this assembly hath been convened by the command of our Lord Jesus Christ, to Whom be praise! I will remain, and I will utter with my tongue what Gad hath given me to say; but if this assembly hath been convened by the emperor’s command, let the emperor manage his assembly as he pleaseth.” Then the blessed Dioscoros tore up the document wherein Leyon (Leo the Great, A.D. 440-461), Archbishop of Rome, had written the wicked creed wherein he had assigned to Christ two Natures, and two Wills after His Unity. And Saint Dioscoros spoke by the Holy Ghost before the assembly and showed that our Lord Jesus Christ was One--He Who was invited to the marriage-feast in Cana of Galilee as a man, and also He Who changed the water and made it sweet wine, for He is God Almighty, and He is not separated in His works. And Abba Cyril, Archbishop of the city of Alexandria, sent forth his testimony concerning the Word, and he said, “The union of the Word of God with the flesh is like the union of the spirit with the body, and like the union of fire with iron. And if there are two different Natures, and they are one in their unity, similarly our Lord Christ is one Messiah and one Lord, and one Nature, and one Will”; and none of those who were gathered together at that assembly dared to contradict him. And some among them had gathered together at the Council of Ephesus, which had been convened because of Nestorius, that infidel and enemy of our Lord Christ. And they informed the Emperor Marcianus the infidel, and the Empress Belkarya, saying unto them, “There is no one who resisteth your commands concerning the Faith except Dioscoros, Archbishop of the city of Alexandria.” And they brought Dioscoros to the emperor, and there were with him the senior bishops of the city and Council, and they debated the matter among them from morning until evening, but Saint Dioscoros would not change his Orthodox belief. And the emperor and the empress were irritated at this, and the empress commanded them to smite Saint Dioscoros on his mouth, and to pluck out the hair of his beard, and they did so. Then he took the hair of his beard, which they had pulled out, and his teeth, which had dropped out, and sent them to the city of Alexandria, and he said unto the people, “Behold, this is the fruit of the Orthodox Faith.” And when the bishops saw what great tribulation had fallen upon Dioscoros, they became afraid for themselves lest there should come upon them what had come upon Dioscoros. Therefore the bishops came to an agreement with the Emperor Marcianus, the infidel, and they wrote with their hands on his roll, saying as they did so with their tongues--may they be cut in pieces in Sheol! And declaring that Christ hath two distinct Natures. And when Dioscoros returned, he sent to them and ordered them to bring to him the roll whereon they had written. And they sent it to him thinking that he would write on it even as they had done. And Saint Dioscoros wrote at the foot of the roll and excommunicated them all. And he also excommunicated every one who departed from the Orthodox Faith, which our fathers the Apostles, and our holy fathers the Three Hundred and Eighteen Orthodox bishops who assembled in Nicea laid down. And the emperor was wroth, and he commanded that Dioscoros should be banished to the island of Gagra. And they took him there, and with him was Abba Macarius, bishop of the city of Kaw, and four others fled. And those six hundred and six bishops were sitting in Chalcedon. And when they had taken Saint Dioscoros to that place, there came upon him great tribulation through the bishop of that district, for he was a Nestorian. And he treated him with great contempt until God performed by the hands of Saint Abba Dioscoros signs and mighty wonders, and all [the people] bowed down at his feet, and were subject unto him, and they magnified his greatness. Thus God honors His chosen ones in every place. And Abba Dioscoros said unto Abba Macarius, “Thou shalt receive the crown of martyrdom in the city of Alexandria”; and he sent him with certain believing pilgrims to the city of Alexandria, and there he ended his testimony according as Dioscoros prophesied concerning him. And Saint Dioscoros having ended his good fight and pleased God, departed from this transitory world, and received the crown of his fidelity and entered into everlasting life. He died in the island of Gagra, and they laid his body there."

I appreciate and thankful for the work you are doing but I have a question why does the story of the ark of covenant is different in Ethiopian Orthodox Church from that of the Bible? Cause the Bible doesn’t tell as the final resting place of the ark of covenant after Jeremiah hide it. I sincerely want to know so please answer me if you can.
@thenowchurch6419
@thenowchurch6419 3 жыл бұрын
The reason is that the Spirit of YHWH left Israel and arranged for the Ark and the lineage of David to move to Ethiopia. There was a substitute Ark built to replace the real one in the Temple as Jerusalem. If Jeremiah hid an Ark it would have been the replacement.
@michaelyemariamlij2633
@michaelyemariamlij2633 2 жыл бұрын
You can read a book called KibraNagast in english version . there you have the whole story . The bible doesnt tell us the final resting place of the Ark but according to the KibraNagast the kings didnt tell about the Ark being stolen to the people . The enemies would attack them if they knew the Ark wasnt there . since the enemies knww about the Ark and its Power etc. So when Nabukadanasour deatroyed the temple he didnt deatroy the Ark .

Hello Ahadu, for over 12 years, I have been going through my own personal journey of deconstruction and reconstruction from Evangelicalism and Fundamentalism ( biblical literalism). And departing from Western Eurocentric lens of doing theology, hermeneutics and spirituality. I have been reading books and online articles on Celtic Christian Spirituality. Celtic Christianity is an ancient and distinct expression of Christianity. It goes way back to 314 A.D. The Celtic Christian tradition predates Constantinian Christianity of the 4th-century, and its Non-Augustinian in their Theological thought. They were never under the Roman Catholic church (4th-century). The Celtic Christians were [and still are] geographically located in Ireland. Wales, Scotland, Isle of Man, Cornwall, Cumbria, Brittany in France, Galtcia and Astur. I am very interesting in learning more about Ethiopian Orthodox and its Spirituality. What would you recommend in terms of basic Texts, books, online articles, videos, podcasts, etc.? Is there a Mystical aspect in Ethiopian Orthodox? Ethiopian Orthodox Mystics? (2/3/22 Thursday)

@EzAlvin
@EzAlvin Жыл бұрын
Behind the scenes it never left Ethiopian Jewish hands or did it?…Ethiopia was vastly Jewish by way of her son that she had with King Solomon. She had two sons with king Solomon…The first son brought the Ark and it was protected by secret through queen Sheba family a sworn secrecy, if that is so…the real ark wouldn’t be known. And remember for a long time Northern Ethiopia Eritrea was part of that. Some say the ArK was located there, and it’s in Israel hands now.

Therr are saint fathers like saint takla haimanot who have done evangelicalism upto to days kenya and also goes to somalias some part. Also there are father who preached the gospel in sudan during the mid 13&14 century but due to ahmed gragn who have destroyed many peoples and churches for 15 years in 16th century Ethiopian church couldn't reach more out of africa. Generally as a church Ethiopian Church was under sister Coptic church administration so Ethiopian church get bishop from church of Egypt.

One huge mistake that most Ethiopians make is to believe that there was a country called Ethiopia during the Old and the New Testament days. Ethiopia in the Bible could refer to a wider area in Africa probably to include as well the modern day Ethiopia. Biblical Ethiopian could have been a Nigerian, Libyan, Sudanese etc. It was only recently during the reign of Emperor Haile Selassie that Abyssinia came to be called Ethiopia

In the time of the ancestors, a man was born to a virgin mother with no biological father being involved. The same fatherless man called out to a friend called Lazarus, who had been dead long enough to stink, and Lazarus promptly came back to life. The fatherless man himself came alive after being dead and buried three days. Forty days later, the fatherless man went up to the top of a hill and then disappeared bodily into the sky. If you murmur thoughts privately in your head, the fatherless man, and his ‘father’ (who is also himself ) will hear your thoughts and may act upon them. He is simultaneously able to hear the thoughts of everybody else in this world. If you do something bad, or something good, the same fatherless man sees all, even if nobody else does. You may be rewarded or punished accordingly, including after your death. The fatherless man’s virgin mother never died but ‘ascended’ bodily into heaven. Bread and wine, if blessed by a priest (who must have testicles) ‘become’ the body and blood of the fatherless man. Crazy shit...

I recommend that you start studying the dogmas and history of Christianity atleast(although i am not the right person to recommend u z specified books) and also i recommend you the book ''Words of spiritual benefit' by HH.Shenouda.👋

Thank you my brother, may God bless you more. Kalehiwot Yasemalen. Because of you my kids learned a lot I am very grateful that God introduce us to your blessing. May I ask you if you could teach us why we don’t celebrate Halloween? It will help my children to understand.
