What'd you think of the video? The second generation of monster really laid the path for future games in the series, and is something I recommend every fan of the series check out at least once.

loved the video! I really want seasons to return. of course, hot season locking away the desert and cold season locking away the snow area should not return, but seasons affecting maps, like making it snow in a forest zone, and changing monster spawns is something I would really want to see return.

Good to see you again Pascl. I actually agree completely. Remove the limitations and seasons have big potential.
@bluegem8582

or if we HAVE to have it limit stuff (and hot and cold drinks return) maybe make it so for example if its cold season during day in desert, the desert heat wont drain as fast, but if its night or the snowy mountains/snow area, stamina drain is increased, and opposite also true, thus also potentially incentivizing you to visit those maps during those seasons, and punishing if you forgot to prepare properly

I started with Freedom Unite on the PSP. I literally couldn't beat the Giadrome without great difficulty when I was younger. Have a lot of memories playing that game. I even tried playing online for a bit using the PS3's ad-hoc party system. Thanks for uploading. Learned a lot of new stuff again like the day/night system, seasons, and the pvp mode. Would love to see the pvp mode make a return.

You forgot to mention the iOS port for MHFU. That was personal favorite way to play the game, but it was tragically pulled from the App Store for no apparent reason a few months before frontier ended. The touch controls had a learning curve, but once you got them down I say they are way more intuitive than the claw. This was not a lazy mobile port, this was the best way to play the game thanks to being straight on your phone and the surprisingly great controls. It even still has online for some reason, just the chat service that capcom used was discontinued so you can only communicate to the few players you will ever find with gestures.

I did that as well, got 4U because I wanted something "kind of like dark souls" ( yeah that’s stupid ) loved it, then played 3U, really liked it but not as much, I got GU because I had been waiting for it for some time and now I finally started Freedom Unite with a friend, making my way back up the franchise made me realize that people really shouldn’t underestimate the older MH titles, as imo Freedom Unite is the second best MH game, only surpassed by 4U ( I can’t talk about world as I haven’t played it )

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, the beginning of my great sparring match with my favorite monster: The Nargacuga. The first time I saw those eyes light up red, I was sold. Chamelos became my favorite Elder Dragon, it felt like I had to put all my perception skills to the test since in this generation, Chamelos was mostly always transparent unless enraged or its horn was broken. This Generation also has alot of monster I'd love to see again, Shen Gaeorn, Yama Tsukami, Vespoid Queen (so the Seltas Queen has a rival). Yeah, MH Freedom Unite (I don't want to put the abbreviation for obvious reasons) was a hell of a game =D Sadly, I took a break in gen 3.

I had never heard of the mechanic of having the seasons change, honestly that's super cool. I don't think I'd like that execution of it, but I love the concept. Having certain monsters have behavioral changes depending on seasons is something I'd love to see return in a future game. The idea of a mating season is also great, I imagine only being able to find black diablos during mating season would help with immersion. Slightly related, about a day/ night system. I liked the old way of doing it better. World's dynamic system is cool, but annoying to deal with when doing stuff like hunting for endemic life that only spawns at certain times of day.

Still today, MHDos is my favorite game in the series and one of my favorite games ever, not only because it was my first MH, but also because of the many elements that were only in this game, my favorite, being the upgrade of the village, the feeling of being a fundamental element for the village's progression is something I never have felt again, until I play MHDos one more time.

I loved the variety of monsters in MHFU. Not sure if that was ever matched. You got to fight bulls, monkeys, crabs, chakalakas, insects, fish, raptors, wyvers and dragons. I don't think seasons is a bad idea, it just need to be done better. The obvious one is by not blocking hunting zones, that's dumb. Instead make some monsters more likely to spawn than others during a quest, if is a "wet" season there are more likely to appeared Barroth while if is a dry season Diablos would be more common, but you still need to hunt the Rathian the quest ask for. But specially what should change is the looks, for example if is summer there would be less snow in the snowy montains, and might open areas that might be hard to reach otherwise and gather some materials. This kind of changes makes the world feel more dynamic.

small thing you didn't mention: monster hunter dos and freedom 2/unite have completely different soundtracks, with the exception of unique monster themes, and with the desert theme from dos appearing in freedom and only being replaced in unite. also, I think the japanese version of either of the freedom games had a different snow theme that then appears in generations. I do wonder why they kept replacing themes. I personally much prefer most themes from dos, except the jungle theme.

Greatsword has had an Infinite combo since gen 1 it just wasn’t very good or viable due to how slow the weapon was overall.

Isn’t that like 1€? I’d say it’s great, it means that maybe someone will see it, and think to themselves "oh monster hunter, I’ve heard of that" and try it, and since both of these games ( i have only played FU but I hear P3rd is great as well ) they might just find their new love
