The NWR dates back to 1913- wait I’ve missed something! Best part of the video right there

That's very good. But there are some gaps you missed in this part of the NWR's timeline: 1870: When the Wellsworth & Suddrey Railway opened, two Manning Wardle Class Q 0-6-0 Saddle Tank Engines, Wardle (#1) and Peter (#2), arrived on the railway. 1881: The W&S's third engines, a Sharp Stewart 0-6-0 tank locomotive named Stella came to the railway. 1885: Wardle was sold elsewhere. That's when Colin came in to replace him, and work alongside Peter and Stella. Colin also brought a brakevan named Brian along to join the railway. 1889: Lily was bought to the W&S when Peter had to go. (Note: There was no engine named Adam on the railway. Not to be confused with the engine 'Adams' from the Bluebell Railway.) 1915: Of course, many locomotives were borrowed from the Midland and Furness Railways. But also, some engines were also borrowed from the Great Eastern, Great Northern, Great Central, North Eastern, London & North Western and London & South Western Railways. 1921: All of these engines had to go back to their respective railway, except Edward, Mickey and Winston. Although Winston never received a number at first, he was purchased regardless, but only as a spare engine. Mickey, on the other hand, was bought by the new Sodor Search & Rescue Center which had just opened, as their first rescue engine. 1923: Shortly after the grouping of the big four railways, three engines were brought on trial. Two of these engines of course were Alfred, an LNER Holden B12 #98462, and Roderick, an experimental GNR Gresley B1 4-6-0 #87546. But there was a third engine brought on trial, named Mars, a red GCR Robinson B4 #76624. The three engines' first year on trial was quite eventful. But of the three, Alfred had the best start with the express, which sadly went to his smokebox, that was before he had a rivalry with Gordon when the big blue engine arrived. But just a week later or something, Gordon had an accident with a car at a level crossing. So Alfred/98462 was put back on express duties, leaving Roderick to take charge of Alfred's goods. However, on the day before Gordon's return, Alfred had an accident, crashing onto a station platform. (TARDIS9) Upon Gordon's return however, another new engine, an LNER Raven A2/2 named Rachelle (#5), came to the line to pull the fast passenger trains. That was before Edward was let out of the sheds, followed by Henry being shut up in the tunnel. That event was because Rodrick told him a story about how an engine had been scrapped, due to his paint getting soaked from the rain. When Topham Hatt found out about that, Roderick was shut up in the shed, and another new engine, Andrew, a GNR Ivatt 0-6-0, was bought to take charge of his goods trains as their #6. But when Henry took charge of the express, his paint got covered in mold from the tunnel due to the rain. So he had to be cleaned, leaving Rodrick to take charge of the express. But after an incident at Gordon's Hill, due to his roughness and impatience, this was the last straw for Topham Hatt, so Roderick was shut up in the sheds again. (TARDIS9) By this point, the Norramby Branch Line purchased a large tank engine, an LBSCR Remembrance 4-6-4 tank, named Simon (#7). A week later, a new load of blacker coal came to the railway, though it smelled awful. Sadly, all the engines fell for it except for Mars, who thought no coal was any poison for him. So he managed to take all the new coal, but when he took charge of the express, he broke down halfway up Gordon's Hill, and even received the nickname "Alled Greedy". (Archer Mania) Another week after that, Mars also had an incident with an apple branch, while taking an excursion to the Brendam Branch Line. (TheBuriedTruck) 1924: Just after Thomas got tricked by Gordon for teasing him, Mars got sent away for bullying Edward and the old coaches, who got sent out for one final express run with Edward. By this point, an LNER Raven B16 4-6-0 named Jonathan (#8), was purchased to take over Mars' work. 1925: With Gordon's reversing gear jammed, Alfred purposely took his express, while Roderick was let out of the shed, unexpectedly, to pull his goods again, completely unaware that Topham Hatt was already purchased an LNER Worsdell Class B13, named Chris (#9), to help out Rachelle with the fast passenger work. They even sent a crook to loosen one of the couplings in Roderick's goods, and to act as Rachelle's "fireman-in-training", so he was send Rachelle out of control. On Gordon's Hill, Roderick's last few trucks broke free and crashed Rachelle off the line. In the end, all three engines were sent away, since Topham Hatt couldn't afford to repair Rachelle. That was before James came to the railway and Thomas was rewarded his branch line. (TTTE's NWR Adventures) After Thomas was rewarded his branch line, Topham Hatt purchased a little blue tank engine (#10) to take over shunting in the yards. It may seem hard to believe that this must've been the same engine who teased James about his bootlace incident. 1926: Andrew was sold back to the mainland. So, with the Little Blue Tank Engine away to the Arlesburgh Branch Line, Percy was purchased as the new #6. And also a black Gresley K1 2-6-0, named Anthony, was purchased to take over Andrew's goods as the railway's #11. 1935: The Norramby Branch Line closed, so Simon was sent to help out the other engines on the mainline. (WildNorWester) 1939: Simon again was sent to work on the branch line due to increased war traffic at Norramby Harbor. (WildNorWester) 1943: Simon went missing after the harbor was attacked by the Luftwaffe in an air raid until being scrapped. So an Austerity saddle tank engine named Samantha (#12) was purchased to take over the duties on the Norramby Branch. (WildNorWester) 1945: Winston, who had been now renamed "Eagle" since his brave retreat on the Mainland when his munition train was on fire, returned to the N.W.R. and was restored as the railway's #13. Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James and Percy were overjoyed to see him again after all these years since 1942, especially Edward. Eagle was allocated permanently to the Brendam Branch Line to help out Edward. 1946: When the Arlesburgh Branch closed down, the Little Blue Tank Engine was allocated to the Norramby Branch alongside Samantha.

I just got into this channel yesterday but im rewatching all these Sodor history videos because these are legit good. If I had any criticism at all it would be what I think is an automated voice? The way certain words get said in some of the videos makes me think that. Either way, great stuff. Easy like and sub from me.

The concept of one E2 going to NI and the other to Sodor wouldn’t work since NI has 5’3” gauge rails.
@elsbridgestudios1885
@elsbridgestudios1885 Жыл бұрын
You learn something new every day. This was just a best guess based on the information I had available. Besides, as unrealistic as it may seem there have been several factories around the world which have operated on a different gauge than surrounding railways. But now that I think about it, it would be strange to have a factory operating on a larger gauge than the railway it serves.

I should have clarified. For the most part the dates are Build-date to Scrap-date. However with some human characters the dates show the years they were in a particular occupation, this may have caused some confusion and for that I apologize.

I knew I forgot something. The date for this story along with 'Thomas Goes Fishing' isn't set in stone. My best guess would be the mid-late 1920's shortly after Thomas was given his branch-line. Regardless it must have occurred before Henry's overhaul in 1934/1935 as Henry mentions he is feeling ill again.

My guess is that S&M No.1 was actually named Clive and No.3 was named Matthew. There was no engine named Roger.

Every channel that uses the box tanks have different names for No.1 & No.3. One even thinks that there were up to 6 box-tanks on the old S.&M. railway. I made a choice on which to accept as true, naturally not everyone will agree no matter what my decision is. And as i pointed out the S.&M. were terrible at record keeping so its possible that we are all wrong.
