England have 4 stadiums older than Cappielow including where Sheffield United play. That stadium has been in use since 1862! In Poland there is a tem called Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza. While not very successful, they played in the top division for three seasons (2015-2018). The population of Nieciecza is 723 people, which for a 40 million country is a very, very small village. Fun fact is, the main sponsor, Bruk-Bet, produces concrete and ceramics, just like the town of Sassuolo. Their stadium has a capacity of 4595 seats, so over six times the population of the village

Kaiserslautern may be small (compared to other cities) but it is in fact a city (Edit: wrong, it's not a city at the moment, read below). Unfortunately they are in the 3rd division now. It's really sad what happened to them.... I hope they won't be relegated to the 4th division. Currently no other club besides Hoffenheim is not from a city in the Bundesliga. The smallest cities in the Bundesliga are Wolfsburg (120 000), Paderborn (150 000) and Leverkusen (160 000). In the 2nd Bundesliga there are 3 clubs not from cities. They are Heidenheim (50 000), Aue (16 000) and Sandhausen (15 000). Edit: Since the 3rd division is also counted as professional football in Germany here you go: Kaiserslautern (99 000), Unterhaching (24 000), Meppen (35 000), Zwickau (90 000) and Großaspach (8 000).

@allws96834 жыл бұрын
Brondby is a suburb to Copenhagen: Definitely a city with over 1 million inhabitants. Auxerre on the other hand may have city rights and a cathedral (since 3rd century b.c.!) but with 35k inhabitants little more than a village. They won the French league and some FA cups. Guingamp in Brittany has 7.5k inhabitants and spent mulitple years in French League 1 and won two French FA cups..

I think Ludogorets is a good shout for a team that could be included. They are based in Razgrad which is technically an administrative center, but the population is 33.5k. Their stadium has 10.5k capacity and they have won the Bulgarian league 8 times in a row. They are a consistent participant in the group stages of Champion's and Europa league, with their best result to date being 1/8 final in 2013/2014.

The Rio Ave honourable mention isn’t right. Altough Vila do Conde has written on it’s name “Vila” (town), it is actually a city. That happens a lot in Portugal, because when some places were founded they had the prefix “vila” but later when they were given city status, the “vila” part of name just stick with it nonetheless, becoming actually the official name of it and not a size regulating name. But yeah, it wasn’t an easy thing to spot and knowing what is or isn’t a city it’s not easy with all the different regulations on different countries, so great vídeo and keep up the great work! Oh and it’s always awesome to see portuguese clubs appearing in your vids!!

You could have added Norwegian side Sogndal as an honourable member at least. Sogndal is a village, they have no town status, of around 8000 people but they have 18 seasons in the Norwegian top flight behind them with 6th as their best finish. In Norway they're considered perennial over achievers and yesterday they scraped through to the playoffs for promotion to the top flight. They came to prominence when they reached the Norwegian Cup Final as a Div 3 side in 1976, winning promotion to the top flight for the 1st time five years later. My home town team Molde could also have been a honourable mention, playing Champions League football in 1999 and have won 3 League titles this decade and are on their way to their 4th title this season. Based in a town of only 27000 inhabitants.

Morwell has a population of about 13,500, is 150km away from any major city (Melbourne) is not a suburb of any other city or anything even close. The club started in just a small local league back in the 1950s and went up through the Australian pyramid to reach the top flight. Sadly the club went broke but is survived of sorts by a phoenix club called Falcons 2000 who play in the same local League that the Morwell Falcons started in.

Rio Ave is based on Vila do Conde, which despite the name still has the status of city and 28 000 people. However, you should have mentioned Moreirense. They are a Portuguese team that is constantly in the top flight lately and last season they even were top 5 I believe. They won the League Cup like 3 years ago. The team is based on Moreira de Conegos, which is a village that belongs to Guimaraes, with 4 000 people. So, they are not even the 'biggest' club in the city, since there is Vitoria SC. Their stadium although pretty small can host 6000 people, more than the whole population of the village.

watford is on the tube map and has an overground station. how is it not basically just a part of the london metropolis? just because it's not administrated as part of greater london and has a tiny patch of green belt to the south, it's basically part of north london. I'm from rural hertfordshire and i see it that way.

Okay, I live in Bournemouth and I can't deal with the inaccuracies in this video so here we go: 1. Boscombe is as much a part of Bournemouth as any other part of the town, so the Vitality Stadium is most assuredly based in the town of Bournemouth. 2. Kings Park is not a part of Boscombe. In fact, the land the stadium is on is part of a different ward called Littledown & Iford. Boscombe is divided into two different wards (East & West Boscombe) as it is. That's the inacuracies covered, now for some related facts: 1. Bournemouth consists of 18 wards in total, but it's continuous urban sprawl spans the neighbouring towns of Poole to the west and Christchurch to the east. All three councils for each town have also recently merged into one single unitary authority, with plans to merge all three towns progressing slowly in the background. 4. Bournemouth International Airport, which serves all three towns, is based in Hurn Village, a short drive north of Bournemouth itself. This means that Bournemouth's Airport isn't even in Bournemouth, whereas the stadium most certainly is. If anyone has any questions about Bournemouth feel free to ask!

Amica Wronki (town of less than 10k people) is quite succesful in Poland and Europe (few Polish Cups, 1st polish club in UEFA group stage). After Lech Poznań was dismantled to avoid bribery penalties, Amica uses stadium in Poznań and uses name "Lech" as well, but licence to play in Europe and Poland is given to Amica Wronki and since that time Amica already has even won championship

Ross County, Dingwall Scotland, Scottish Premiership, 2016 Scottish League Cup winners, population 5491, stadium - Victoria Park, capacity 6541. surely the only top flight team to have recently won national trophy, in a town with less than 6,000 population and a stadium with higher capacity than the town. some of the teams in this list are from towns with populations between 100-200,000 which is a city in all but name.

They finished 12th in LaLiga last year and have been playing since 2013. Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza is based on the town of Nieciecza, of only 750 people, making them the club with the smallest population to ever have played in the top flight of a country. they played in the Ekstraklasa in 2015 and 2016, and they now play in the polish 2nd division.

Brøndby is really pushing it definition-wise. You did admit it's in a Copenhagen suburb, but it's a close suburb. The stadium is only 11.8 km (~7 miles) from Copenhagen Central Station and is located just off a main Copenhagen beltway. There are plenty of NFL stadiums farther from their respective downtowns than that, but I don't think anyone would consider them "Village Teams."

Maybe you should have mentioned some teams from smaller countries, for instance PFC Ludogorec 1945, Bulgaria: Founded in 2001 (being a successor of a club going by the same name which was founded in 1945) in Razgrad with population of 35 000, they reached the top tier of Bulgarian footbal in 2011/2012, immediately becoming champions and taking 8 titles in a row. They took part it the group stages of UCL in 2013/2014 (3rd place), 2014/2015 and 2016/2017 and Europa League in 2013/2014 (1/8 finals), 2017/2018 (1/32 finals), 2018/2019. In season 2019/2020 Ludogorec lost to Inter Milan in 1/32 finals of Europa League. Teams defeated: PSV Eindhoven, Lazio, Bazel, Victoria Plzen, Braga, Hoffeinheim, CSKA Moscow.
