I think what a lot of people don't understand about Eddie Howe, is that it takes time for him to work with players to get what he wants out of them. I don't think his football would be best suited for the England job due to how little time he'd actually get to mould the players and their fitness levels. EH, I don’t think that’s a given. International football is much different from regular league football, and one of the most important things in International football is the ability to adapt on the fly in match regularly. As great as Pep is, in the past he’s shown his decision-making to counter opponents were lacking sometimes. Not to mention Pep would need more time to have an international side adapt to his tactics and methods.

2 Video Ideas: 1. Has Pep destroyed football? You spoke this briefly during the video about how football has become boring, but since Pep has his teams frequently playing it safe and reducing risk, and many other managers following in his footsteps, could he be blamed for the loss of quality of football? 2. Analysis of Blue Lock. This one may seem quite out of the blue (see what I did there?) but hear me out. Blue Lock is a series about how the Japanese football Federation needs to Japan to improve their National Team. In the hopes of doing this, they create an insane project called “Blue Lock.” This show takes a DRASTICALLY different approach to soccer than what is conventionally accepted.

As a Brentford got to respect him for the most part. What I would say is that he is probably quite similar to Southgate. He is good at getting the best out of his players and creating a good group dynamic, but probably lacks a bit in terms of innovative tactics. Klopp is the perfect candidate. He's one of the best man managers out there, his style of play suits pretty much every talent in the England squad, he's extremely well respected , his command of English is impeccable. The one criticism of Klopp at club level is that he could get burnt out and his teams could struggle at times. This won't be a problem with a national team job. Having just left Liverpool, he might find his familiarity with English players could also work in his favour. The FA should go all in for him.

Guardiola everyday because England have always lacked that tactical mastermind to elevate the players who can think in game and make great subs. Pep has even said he would be open to coaching England, because as Catalonia nationalist he has no interest in coaching Spain. Klopp would be my second choice but I doubt as a proud German he would take England ahead of Germany. And the idiots who say Mourinho just because he is a big name. His style is defensive and relies on good defenders and defensive midfielders and this is England’s weak point, so an attacking coach is better suited to the players England has because that is England’s strength.

Great video, I think your spot and and enjoyed your left-field suggestions too. The old adage of making sure you have "some one better lined up" has never been more appropriate, I think people do forget just how bad the England set up was before him, and the complete change in the attitude towards England from players and fans alike, has in many ways occurred thanks to a mature and carefully thought out stewardship under Gareth. Yes sometimes we all crave more gung-ho football but to be honest its actually very rare gung-ho football wins international trophies. Italy, Spain, Germany, Argentina France have all won world cups and not actually been gung-ho, Brazil get a reputation for silky skills but anyone that saw US 1994 saw a very gritty team and then in 2002 with a ridiculously talented team they averaged 1.9 goals if you exclude the two routs of Costa Rica and China, so hardly gung-ho. Whether fans like it or not, modern international football is about control of the ball and pulling other teams out of shape, or else its about losing as the other team does exactly that to you.

Well, England is like Thailand, always waste their potential with absurdities inside. It's scary if you remember that Thai club football successes in Asia modelled much from their English counterparts. Strangely enough, I am also asking for a video about Thailand as well. A country where football is immensely popular, with one of the richest football leagues in Asia, and Thai clubs among some of the wealthiest in Asia as well, but unable to live up to expectation.

Considering Mourinho, I have to say that, considering the number of games international players have to play, a national team manager who plays a more economical football might be a good choice for a tournament like the World Cup and the Euros. It might not be pretty, but results might just happen.

In terms of the context of international football, and dealing only with names that are currently unemployed, here are my picks for England: 1) Graham Potter: obviously. English, moderate success, and he may emulate Roberto Martinez (underachieved in the EPL, seemingly got his mojo in international football) 2) Ole Gunnar Solksjaer: Same with Potter and Martinez, his strengths maybe in international football. And with England's current pool of players, he has a couple of young hungry studs to work with, which is the type of player he found success with at Man United 3) Jurgen Klopp: if they can somehow convince Klopp, he IS the perfect choice right now. I think gegenpressing would be a nightmare with the young players of England right now. Only question is, will clubs allow their players to play in such a taxing system instead of recovering for their individual pushes in the league and Europe

Alfie, An excellent video as always. You should do a follow up video on the FAI and add in Irish football. The FAI and the national team is even worse than you could imagine. Cant get a manager, CEO scandal and resignation, drop in rankings, divided fanbase on style of play and still no manager. You would enjoy but be horried. We have England in Nations league. The League of Ireland is flourishing in terms of attendances and recently went professional. All this is without any FAI/government support.

FUTURE EPISODE SUGGESTION: players who would have gained more caps but for a superstar. Or has this 1 been done? As an Evertonian, Leyton Baines would have gained many more caps had he not been born similar time to Ashley Cole. He has the most assists in the Premiership for a defender: in a Mpyes team (not the most expansive of coaches). In Wright being in Shearer's era would be another example. As for foreign teams: who cares? Luckily Alfie does and could come up with an interesting list

Rob Edwards is not outside the realm of possibility. Yes, he'll probably be relegated, but remember everyone was predicting Luton to have a historically bad season, Derby County 07/08/Aston Villa 2015/16 levels, but they haven't, the mood around the club seems to be pretty positive, and he's worked well with the squad he's had. He's clearly a talented, PL-standard coach, the FA should consider him.

I think Eddie Howe would be the best England manager out of the lot of them. I don't really fancy Pep's style of play and I think Eddie howe being that Newcastle manager that got a bunch of these players on the plan this season, working incredibly well with younger talent and also being a very attack minded coach with this world class attack force of players we do have works so much in our favour, we'll outscore the other team simply

How are defensive coaches going to work for England when their weakness is defenders and defensive midfielders? Bielsa, Klopp and Guardiola are far better suited to players England has and is producing. England has attacking create and fast players by the bucket load, England need attacking football specialists to elevate the team to a new level and have the tactical intelligence to adapt during the game and that will take England to level of being favourites who can actually beat big teams.

Klopp can actually not get the German national team job basically at any time he wants right now, because the DFB just extended Nagelsmann's contract until 2026. Nagelsmann took the contract extension over going back to Bayern Munich and it's highly unlikely that he will leave prematurely or get fired from the DFB now, unless they brutally crash and burn in the upcoming months.

For me, it has to be Howe. Now maybe its just me, but I firmly stand on that we should try keep it British. Just something about being a huge football nation to me just would be embarrassing having to go for an import, just breaks the spirit of it. Also whenever I hear people talk about the England job, there are some things people just do not even account for which baffles me. 1. Doing well with a shoestring budget is impressive however how does that even apply to international football? Especially our squad is not in a situation of "we will work with what we got". The talent and depth is amongst the best there is. You have to focus on, how do they manage and unlock star power. No point in giving Dyche Phil Foden if he gets as much of a tune out of him as Southgates does. Its just a complete different skill set. 2. For me, when you are talking about next england manager, the performances in the cups (Europe, FA, EFL etc) needs to have WAYYYYY more weight in the considerations. Everyone knows tournament football is different to league football. This is where Howe separates himself from your Potters and Dyches. Howe has taken Newcastle to a EFL Cup final, Bournemouth to numerous QF's. Yes Champions League he flopped with that PSG game being the only positive, Howe-ver still think Howes cup pedigree is just stronger and HAS to be England manager ASAP www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eddie-howe/leistungsdatenPokaleNational/trainer/10976

Assuming we can't get Guardiola, Lee Carsley is a great shout. If I'm allowed a mad left-field shout it would be Christian Streich. A stalwart at Freiburg, he transformed the club into a top flight team and kept them fighting for Europe. Juventus coming to their ground would've felt mad before he arrived but it's exactly what happened. But given he has never managed anywhere else, it's unclear how well he can speak English, and he's nearly 60, I don't know how good a fit he would be. What I've realised I want in an England manager is a decent person, I think Southgate is that. Streich is too and that's why I want him. We've had an Italian manage us, so why not a German? Or an Argentinian for that matter? If Pochettino had done well at Chelsea, I don't think he would be a crazy shout. In all honesty though, take a good look at the England squad. We have an embarrassment of riches in some positions. But in others, there are serious weaknesses. We don't have an elite goalkeeper, our centre-back options leave a little to be desired and left-back doesn't feel well--stocked either. But at right-back? Or further forward? It's as good as it gets. Maybe Guardiola fancies an international job. If he wins the Euros or the World Cup with England, his reputation as a 'chequebook manager' will be consigned to the bin. And perhaps it's exactly what he wants.

As a Man City fan, I worry that if Pep becomes England manager, he’d have a slow start and will be forced out before he could get any success. Remember he only finished 3rd in the league and ended trophyless in his first season at City. And most players (except a few like Haaland or Ruben Dias) take at least one year to get used to City’s system, before succeeding in their second season. So with limited time training with his players in international football, Idk if Pep would have enough time to make the team click.
