▶Synopsis:
Gongsun Li, a beautiful commoner, has been studying Kung Fu from her grandfather alongside two senior apprentices ever since she was a little girl. During her youth, she saves a boy named Ying Zheng, who later becomes the King of Qin. Her world is turned upside down when war breaks out amongst the warring states and her grandfather is killed by the Qin army. As a result, Gongsun Li is forced to flee her hometown. Her longtime senior, Jing Kie, is then poisoned for attempting to protect her. In order to obtain the cure for Jing Ke, Gongsun Li chooses to marry the king, Ying Zheng, who is responsible for invading her nation and murdering her grandfather. Soon after, Gongsun Li discovers that she is pregnant with Jing Kie’s child. When Ying Zheng’s discovers Gongsun Li’s pregnancy, he comes to her aid by claiming that he is the father of the child, which deeply moves Gongsun Li. In order to ensure the safety of Gongsun Li and her child, Han Shen, Gongsun Li’s other senior, chooses to become an imperial bodyguard in the palace. Faced with the dangers and perils of life in the palace, Gongsun Li develops into a strong woman and eventually earns people’s respect through her wisdom and kindness.

She still holds back. An ungrateful woman! The king needed tender loving care. He just loved her too much, but he genuinely loved her. It’s a pity that he didn’t inform her of their relationship as children. After all, all he wanted was to be loved, and he did truly love her in his own fashion. If only she gave of herself just a little bit more, he would have given her heaven on earth. But, tragedy comes in all shapes and forms, as it generally does in life. The trust has been lost on both sides, and it will never be regained. It’s happened once too often. Such a tragedy. Yes, she grew to love him, but ultimately it was too late. Such a pity! So heart breaking! Han Shen was the perfect example of a beautiful man who loved her with a pure and innocent love.

Don't know why I find myself rewatching. Truly it's the acting which draws me in. The story is horribly toxic though. Two words to describe Li'er situation and that's Stockholm Syndrome. It's sad how she can love someone like him (if that's what you call this). Her senior brother was truly the best man for her! So tragic.

Li Er is crazy. I would grab Han Shen and Tian and run as far away as I could get. Han has been there for her no matter what happens. How can she not appreciate such a fine man? I just could not get back with a man who lets others beat me enough to cause scarring. If Han hadn't gone to the prison, Li Si would've carved up her face too. The king is too careless to protect someone he loves from harm.

Greetings fellow viewers: From the beginning to this episode I didn’t comment, to this whole drama everyone wants the life of the king & those around him are not truthful his father mother concubines members of the Council' if given a chance they can butcher him & be happy. Here are the main characters who supposed to be together and unite the kingdoms' Li Er' Ying Zheng' Jing Ke' but for the sake of revenge this will not happen' I feel it will be a sad ending to everyone. My salutations to all the beautiful & handsome characters in this drama' I would wish to see the happy ending to every character but since 3 mens are in love with 1 woman I am afraid! I will be just sobbing for them. I keep watching because of of Ying Zheng' Han Sheng' Win Wu Yang' Jing Ke' Li Zhong' & favorite above all lady Li Er' I had to keep watching her drama’s after watching “Internal love of the dream”

king is acting like king. Concubine is acting according to the restraints of her gender and status of that time. ( Minus glaring inaccuracy in terms of swordsmanship and illegitimate children being accepted by emperor and any senior/ adopted brother being allowed any access or contact with concubines). This was never a love story. This was a story of making it as far as one can within our means in a restrictive and oppressive environment. The nation's were not conquered or United without desperate and harrowing events and circumstances. To rule is to subject ,oppress and violate for control. Not to love , care, or worry about justice, righteousness and fairness. To want to be a ruler is to want to satisfy love of Power.

I have to say that Li er and king both are wrong what made king became cruel because of his past experiences and Li er should be sure whose side she chooses I think both of them have their own difficulty and option but the king love for Li er is true and Li er also sincere with the king it sad that both of them stubborn didn't give in in the end it becomes empty and meaningless but it's a lesson In relationship with your partner parents friends and lover this is cause and result .
