I like to think that Cyrus's line about interfering wasn’t intentionally written like that to show his fear or whatever, but it was Giratina's ability fucking everything up so much, it essentially made the entire scene repeat itself like a video game crash before it jumpscared everyone. In other words: Its very presence broke time and space. Giratina is scary af.

At first I though the last two gens' villain teams were kinda silly, but then I started to like them because of the silliness. Team Yell being basically a fanboy legion is by far one of the goofiest ideas I've ever seen, while Team Star is straight up an anti bully student group that went nuts after the leader was missing they becabe labeled themselves as bullies by the other students for pushing other too much to get new members.I love how the principal request your help to find out what's going on because his first priority is to solve the issue about his students being skipping classes for a while all of a sudden.

Team Yell was never meant to be the evil team of the region to begin with. That's just a huge misconception. The plot twist with team yell is that they were the citizens and gym trainers from Spikemuth that created "Team Yell" as a facade to support Marnie, the person they put their hopes on to bring back life to their decadent town. They only did silly morally grey things (like "helping dreadnaw to cross the road" and "helping silicobra sleep well") in an attemp to delay the other gym challengers and that way stop them for making it in time to complete the gym challenge. In fact, in the silicobra scene you can see that they allow normal citizens to pass but not the gym challengers specifically. They also wanted the bike from the doctor npc to chase them around and making them all tired. After they saw that even like that the gym challengers (and specially you, the player) still managed to get to spikemuth, they panicked and that's when they did the only real "illegal" thing againts them (by blocking the entrance to spikemuth to completely stop them from having a battle againts Piers). When Marnie found out about this, she called them out and she even let the player (and probably all the other gym challengers) go ahead and battle Piers before her as an apology. Thanks to her skills as a trsienr she managed to make it in time and became one of the finalists of the tournament. However, at the end, she lost but still was able to make the public cheer for her battles (she originally considered that becoming the champion was the only way of genuinely gain the attention and popularity as a trainer that she required to bring the spotlight to her town, but she changed her mind after seeing how much people cheered for her battles) which inspired her to take the role of gym leader from Piers and that way bring back life to spikemuth. By the way, the real evil team of the region is the secret branch of Macrocosmos (owned by Rose and directed by Oleana) that was in charge of the development of the plan with Eternatus, along with the ambush/kidnapping of Leon in his way to his dinner with Hop and the player and the delay of the player and hop (that Oleana organized even ending up battling herself againts the player) all of it to gain as much time for Rose to try to convince Leon one last time of participating in the plan by his own will.

In X, Lysandre still tries to kill everyone initially with the ultimate weapon--he just reacts differently to losing, since when he loses, that's when he tries to make you and your friends immortal, while in Y he reacts by trying to kill you with the last bit of power of the ultimate weapon. In X, it's quite possible he managed to fire on himself and make himself immortal, before getting buried under a mountain of rubble. It's technically possible he's still alive under there, stuck forever, surrounded by the bodies of everyone in Team Flare who died when their hideout collapsed. Ouch.

I thought Lysandre was going to kill a whole ton of people with the weapon in both games, but the player’s interference made him decide to use the low-powered weapon to punish the player. In Y the low-powered weapon would kill the player, but in X he recalls its other purpose and threatens to make you live forever so you’d see how humanity never changes or improves forever.

I did not include Macro Cosmos as they aren’t really a “villainous” team ^^ the only person that does anything “evil” is Rose acting on his own will. I suppose you can make the same argument for the Aether Foundation and Lusamine, but they are a lot more outwardly sinister.

Guzma is the only villain in pokemon who would pull up to a battle with a gold plated mini-UZI and say "what's poppin' homies?"

For some extra notes on Team Break, they are essentially former workers of the prince Lear who made Pasio, rebelling against him. Since then they have made amends with him and members leaving the group, while some stayed feeling better to be with a group, similar to Team Skull.

Imagine if they made an evil team and there lore is that game freak ran out of ideas and that's the whole reason they're evil

Team skull, my summary version; bus stops and stickers aren't safe from this team. Also they are banned from surfing not for being a criminal team but because they can't stop dancing and keep falling off, it's for their own safety only. Easily the only and best villain team we ever gotten

“Let’s agree to be homies once this kid solves all our problems” is a far cry from the Pokemon Adventures manga where they get possessed by the elemental orbs and team up to wipe their opposition (aka basically every battle-capable trainer in Hoenn) so they can fight to the death uninterrupted.

Summary of Team Star: The team Star leaders were bullied because the bullying was out of control in the school (in the past). Organized by Penny they decided to defend themselves, made costumes and the starmobile to look intimidating and confront their bullies. As soon as the bullies saw them, they ran away in fear and left the school without even fighting. As a result the staff thought that Team Star did something to them (leading to their bad reputation and to Penny being sent away to Galar as punishment). Without their leader the other team star members stopped going to classes due to their new reputation and other students started to join them due to the bullying they suffered at school. The internal scandal about the bullying being so bad and out of control that the students were literally creating gangs to defend themselves from it was so serious that all the staff quitted at the same time in shame and due to fear of being held responsible for something. Which is why all the teachers that you see in the game are completely new staff that doesn't have more than 1 year and a half as members of the school. As a result Clavel, the new director had no way to know what actually happened in the academy but heard rumors about Cassiopeia and operation Starfall (a.k.a Penny's plan to dissolve the team) but he didn't know what that operation was and thus decided to investigate on his own with the intention of expelling them if they were planning to do something bad against the school. Which is why Penny recruited the player to help her to defeat them and force them to quit their roles as team star leaders according to their code before the misunderstandings about what happened could get them expelled.

It's worth mentioning that the villains in the Ranger games are also trying to kill/injure the protagonist, or at the very least break your styler. They use the mons they control to attack _you_ directly, and in both sequels you can actually die (both times by taking too long to plug/exit a sinking vessel).

Don't Forget! Unlike every other team that has to be foiled in their plots multiple times, Team Star bullied exactly once on-screen and it was a random pair of grunts. In the tutorial. Their only crimes are skipping (apparently otherwise voluntary) classes and violations of the school dress code (And even there, the grunts agurably follow the dress code). They do not even attack you until you initiate conflict with them, and you do that only because you are being lead astray by the person who used to be their boss. Who also happens to commit several cyber crimes to aquire the funds used to bribe you into doing her bidding.

If you look at Bulbapedia, the team skull lore is MUCH weirder than you think. Apparently a former Kahuna formed a gang/cult at some point, which pissed of the Tapus, so the Tapus struck that Kahuna down and the survivors of that group formed Team Skull. Not sure why they included all that. Also, if you go to Guzma’s childhood home, you can find that his room is filled with second and third place trophies. Rip.

For me, as a teacher, the entire Team Star plot is very realistic. The principal (Clavell) making it his top priority to carry out an active search to find students who are missing classes so that they don't drop out or fail the year... The pedagogical team at the school where I work does this every day, even going into dangerous areas because it's what do education authorities expect from us...

Minor correction: When Team Star stood up to their bullies, they themselves were the ones who got punished for retaliating rather than the bullies, which is why they left the school. The grunts bullying other students are acting against the interests of the Squad Leaders.

Team Yell: Football Hooligans Ginko Guild (yes, I classify them as villains): Amazon but in Feudal Japan, right down to having a sociopath running it if Volo's statements about his job in the post-game are to be believed. Team Star is interesting in that you can argue the player character kind of joins it. Never officially, but since the original Team Star was just the leader and her friends, with whom you're all on good terms by the end of the story, I think you're kind of in it by default. The fact that completing their post-game DLC story gives you all the Team Star uniform practically confirms it.

I was expecting Chairman Rose and Volo which was technically the same as Cyrus’s but I think Volo’s was more BRILLIANT.( it was a bad joke I was trying to put emphasis on the brilliant as in Brilliant Diamond because that is the Sinnoh game and Hisui takes place in Sinnoh yea I’m sorry).

Team Star had potential, but the writers preferred to go the route of, "Tell don't show". Literally just telling us that Team Star members are victims, but never actually showing us, the players, them getting bullied or even bullying other trainers(excepting that ONE instance near the beginning of the game). Would've been great if we had one more side character being shown getting bullied by regular students, and then eventually joined up with one of the Team Star member's crew, and we fight them, thus showing us how they got to that point. As well as, showing more Team Star members being nuisances to other trainers, disrupting the students in their gym challenge or something; instead we only ever see Team Star members at their bases spread across the region. They're hardly an evil team, compared to the rest, when they're not doing anything to impact ANY of the main stories throughout the game.

i mean, to be kinda fair, team magma and team aqua had some good reasoning behind there ideals in the originals. Magma wanted to create more land for humans to live on (not destroy the oceans completely), and team aqua wanted more sea's for pokemon and humanity as well. Then In Alpha and Omega they made Aqua wanting to destroy humanity for some weird reason, and Magma wanting to progress human civilization. In any case, they were dumb asf to use primal beings.

Considering the fact that Pokemon Duel was shut down before the story could conclude due to a lack of a sufficient player base, Masters meeting a similar fate is entirely plausible. I still miss Duel though... :(
