Right now, the OrganIzation hasn’t shown they could build a team. The draft wasn’t hard since Bedard was #1. But Davidson hasn’t shown crap in his trades or signings. Perry was a joke, Taylor is still injured and Foligno didn’t even want to show up. He was handcuffed with Seth and he has had to go before he got here. The mastermind who created the core that won those cups is now scouting for the Canucks. In order to fix this ship, Ownership has to change. Rocky didn’t help build the last championship roster, it was his brother Peter. The Hawks need proven hockey knowledge to make this team actually progress. They don’t have it in Danny Wirtz.

Ehhh... I dunno how much you follow pro-sports, but shorter guys tend to hit peak physical maturity at younger ages. Seen many guys like him peak at like 21 then just go down from there. That said, I think Bedard has the skill and mentality to be a generational. But as far as size and strength goes, that's not how he's going to have success in this league, because he's always going to be at a deficit there. But as long as he maintains his skill, and maybe packs on a little more strength to be more resilient to crushing hits, he'll be fine. Where he'll see the most gains is by getting a better team around him. If you plopped him onto the Oilers with McDavid and Draisaitl feeding him the puck, he'd instantly beat out Matthews for the rocket richard trophy, no doubt in my mind. Give him something stupid like 80 goals ez. But he's stuck on Chicago, and it's gonna be long wait before his team gets good. I'll check back in on him as he get's better teammates, but I don't expect him to be challenging McDavid in points and Matthews in goals until that happens.

As a blackhawks fan, I know that bedard still has a lot to learn. He can be pretty wild with the puck sometimes and he doesn’t always make the greatest decisions. Not to mention his defense, but putting that aside, this kid is one of the greatest raw talents the world has ever seen. If the hawks can put some help around him, giving him room to breathe, he could be one of the greatest players in the game. Besides his talent on the ice, I’ve been so excited to see how competitive he is in the face of defeat. He has the talent and the mindset, now it’s up to the hawks to build around him.

If you look at his stats without bedard, including this year and over is career (25 points in 70 games last year for example) it’s pretty clear that he’s just a decent role player who happens to be benefitting from bedard’s presence.

Bedard said he models his game from Kirill Kaprizov. His use of in-zone entries reminds me much of Kaprizov and how they both drive to play. Kaprizov had the same problems as a rookie. Yes, he was much older, but nonetheless, his talent around him made him drive the play. You see how they both enter the zone and must slow down and create space using their edges and passing.

As a lifelong 56 year old Regina Pats fan I've seen a LOT of supremely skilled players come through the CHL Junior Hockey ranks......This kid is SPECIAL (as most people with two brain cells to rub together realize). As far as "skill set's" go he's really got a unique "toolbox" for a kid his age. Started playing CHL Major Junior Hockey against 230 pound 21 year old MEN as a 15 year old kid with an "exceptional status" exemption and CRUSHED IT. His wrist shot is absolutely on an Austin Matthews level at the age of 18. The kid for some reason has been labelled as a "goal scorer only" when in fact his passing ability to set up goals is absolutely fantastic (always has been). People want to say that he's "too small" and won't be able to handle the "physicality" but in actuality Conner is rock solid and very muscular. Yeah....he took a shot straight to his jaw....ANYONES jaw would have broken with that same hit. DEAL with it HATERS.....this kid is EXCEPTIONAL and is HERE TO STAY.......take your JEALOUSY and shove it.

Macklin Celebrini and Connor Bedard together would be elite

The other thing Conner has to aware of is with him be a 5’10” scoring forward is the hits he is going to take from big strong defenders. Avoiding injury is an ongoing concern for players like him. He already got a broken jaw trying to come down the slot. My son Torrey Diroberto was a like high scoring forward with Seattle in the WHL back in the 90s. He got drafted in the NHL and played 3 seasons in the AHL sustaining 3 concussions which ultimately ended his career. I hope the coaches get Conner some protection like Edmonton had for Gretzky in his day. If so, Conner could definitely be a superstar player 👍

As a Blues fan, I’m really not looking forward to seeing how good of a career he has the potential to have. As a hockey fan, watching this kid carve up the league will be very fun. I can’t wait for the Blues/Hawks rivalry to be good again.

Haters going to hate. Remember folks, the kid is only 18 years old and pulling off good numbers on a very bad Hawks team. Give him a couple years to grow and watch out. Bedard is for real!

It was a nice 5 week break without having to hear about this kid every 2 seconds. It got old quick and no one outside of the Blackhawks care.

Glad you pointed out the +/-, though I don't think you hit it hard enough, his lack of defensive skill is from getting away with being a scorer and never having to earn or grind to prevent goals, he could make a few shifts like covering his man regardless of puck position, and he'd improve tremendously, instead he floats around trying to look important flapping his stick at the wind but accomplishes nothing.

Anybody pointing out +/- clearly showing they are clueless about hockey. Specially concerning an 18-yo playing on the 1st line with a terrible team. Lemieux was -33 at age 18. He lacked defense too? 🤦🏻‍♂️
