@@romulusnuma116 Using quick and dirty math you can calculate that it can be a worthwhile tech for the 4% research boost in some cases. The base cost of atomic research is 425 days, so you could just say you need to save that many days in research costs following the completion of the research. Research speed of a tech in days is calculated with (B/1+S)=T Where B is base cost in days, S is research speed bonus total, and T is the time in days. To "repay" the cost of the 4% tech we need to start shoving in values for B. Let's assume you don't research any tech that is from 1941 or onward until it is finished. In the Infantry alone there are 19 technologies (all with varying base value cost) which sum to 3143 days. With the discount from the 4% Atomic research, we would save 121 days just in the infantry tree alone. There is still the artillery tree, support company tree, armor tree, land doctrine tree, naval tree, naval doctrine tree, air tree, air doctrine tree, engineering tree, and industry tree. I will assume there is more than 425 days to be saved there. But what if we only cared about 1941 tech alone? like say we assume the game will be over before we reach 1942 tech. There are in total 31 (adding 2 land at 382 days, 3 naval at 255 days , and 3 air at 255 days worth of doctrine, with xp boosts, which halves their research time (doctrines have no date associated with them that will cause an AOT penalty)) with a total cost of 3500 days. That means we'd only save about 135 days with the 4% boost - not worth it. Especially not worth it when you consider that you probably won't research more than half of that tech at all. So, in short, it's likely good if you think you're going to like 43/44, not good if you're finishing within the year it's available.

It was to flex on the Soviets, to awe the Japanese into submission and to see just what the effect would be. In the end, it would prove far less deadly than Operation Downfall would have been. Japan had lost,yes. But Japanese culture was very much a warrior cult, death before surrender etc...so to take the islands by conventional means would prove.... costly

@@Bitt3rSteel Poland has National Focus Atomic Physics Institute giving 100% research bonus to Atomic tech. You need to do this focus anyway if you want the 5th research slot, so with this NF in place researching Atomic Research might be justified for the research speed bonus alone. Of course, if you do the PL game right you have much bigger army than you got in this disaster save and you are finishing off Axis by early 1941 so it's not that you really need it then

I don't even bother with navy because of that

Truth be told navy comes down to what you want and how you want to do it. The “best” method is spam sub 3’s and you auto win vs AI. Otherwise you can probably run a solid surface fleet of destroyers for sub detection with cruisers, a few carriers, and maybe some battleships if you have the ability to invest. The biggest thing is air superiority and naval bombers, if you’re fighting in the English Channel and have 0 fighters or naval bombers you will be STOMPED, but the minute you have air superiority and naval bombers you win easily. To sum up, anything can work but the biggest thing is keep in mind resources like factories and steel, but also make sure you have air superiority

destroyers with torpedoes and cruisers with 1 heavy battery, 1 float plane and the rest light batteries.

You need only two things to win a naval battle right now: 1- Light attack only cruisers 2- Dual purpose secondary battery Cruisers simply Melt everything they come across. İt will be cost effective even if they go down Dual purpose secondary battery is extremely op against aircraft while also providing extreme amount of light attack.

@@RedWraith234 I know how all this I'm just saying the naval system in general is a headache and in no way fun. Don't get me wrong, watching naval battles are satisfying but the process or researching, setting up, building, and working with that God arwful naval ui kind of makes most not to want to even touch the system. I personally would have liked for them to rework the navy over what they're doing in no step back, because honestly the army and tank system is fine the way it is. One MAJOR concern I have is that they don't make it as confusing as the system they have with the navy( honestly my sanity won't take it).

Personally, I would hope that they would update the game to track last stands and force attacks by division so you could do it with only a few divisions under a general.

@@Bitt3rSteel I'm pretty sure I was doing prepare collab government operation against Soviets as non aligned Poland. Maybe its blocked beacuse you are in faction lead by democracies and they cant use the prep collab gov operation. I'm intrigued now, I will start my hoi and see what's up with this
