When we get deployed we all write the dreaded letter in case something happens to us. Only me and God knows what was in mine. When I got home for the final time I burned it. Felt like the weight of the world came off me.

I do understand. I did the exact opposite. I gave them to my wife. So she knew. I wrote them to my children later. Gave to them when they were adults. One of the most important things I've ever done.

I still have my letter through both my deployments so far. I will get rid of it when I'm out 4 more years I hit my 20.

I am a daughter, wife & mother of veterans. This song was what I listened to when my son was deployed. Thankfully he came home. If you are a family member of a veteran, this song means something to you!!

The line that always makes me cry is “you’ll move on and find someone else and that’s okay.” You feel so guilty moving on, like you are betraying your loved one. So to give your blessing, telling them it’s okay, it’s so touching.

Soldiers do write letters to be delivered in case something happens in the line of duty.

I served from 2008-2019. I know 8 brothers who took their own life. I wear a 22 a day bracelet everyday with their names on it. I was also a part of a funeral detail for 2 years. Thats the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

its very real. I gave my letter to our family friends and neighbors. When I got back, my buddy gave me back my letter at a bbq they held in my honor. We slipped it into the fire on the grill. My wife didnt know about the letter for years later. I had to put pen to paper so she could see what I had written in the letter.

The letter thing is very true, I am a veteran of Desert Storm, and I wrote a letter to my family and one of my buddies held it till we left the combat area, and i also held letters from 3 of my buddies till we left safely, when i got my letter returned to me, i opened it, read it, and then destroyed it, so yes the posthumous letters are a real thing, they represent the service members own last words to his/her family.

LOL As a veteran of the U.S. military (Desert Storm era), there's almost nothing that touches my heart more, than a young person, such as yourself, who is patriotic and respectful, and so-forth!! Amen! As an Air Force brat I love what you said about people and our military! I grew up with a dad who was home MAYBE half of the year. That’s because of the continued training and education our military has to do and chances are it’s not going to be held at the base you’re stationed at. So, my dad would go to another base and be gone for weeks or more

My grandma had 3 grandsons my cousin was 50 south of where I was when he was KIA. I was running missions out of Balad Iraq. I had just been hurt like 3 or 4 days before he was killed. Both his death and my injury came from IEDs. He left behind a 1 year old daughter. This was back in 07. Then in 2012 my best friend a guy I deployed with was KIA in Afghanistan. War is very nasty business.

100% disabled vet my letter almost was sent home but i lived and i had to give my boys letters to there moms and or next of kin as well as escort them home burry them with honors and as honor guard, hardest thing to do is to give that last salute and pass the flag to some one who is and or was basicly a 2nd mother or father, family.

Go watch the movie “ taking Chase” it’s about a marine officer escorting the body of a fallen marine home the office is played by Kevin bacon I think this is the Best Roll that he ever played in a movie I’ve ever seen it was an HBO movie and is based on a true story

Before each deployment wills are updated, possibly letters added. This video is only about military members that died in service. Its not about a bitch about the service. Its about coming home a corpse & going 6 feet under. This isn't funny, our only voluntary military service members die and ... well maybe we might get their body back.

@burgaweddie1. I watched his reaction while shaking my head at his seemingly disrespectful demeanor. This is such a serious subject matter and one that pulls on your heartstrings that I was dumbfounded as he continued to bop around. I believe he had good intentions but, in my opinion, those intentions were drowned out by his actions.
