Yes, I did weld it myself. Bending the rebar required heating it up first in hot coals with additional air from a compressor.

That's pretty cool. What do you think about it in relation to other more normal pronation exercises?
@T12J7
@T12J7 3 жыл бұрын
Well, the difference with this is that it 1. totally isolates the pronator 2. creates an universal force The problem which comes from not being able to isolate the pronator is that when you combine the pronation move with for example back pressure or side pressure you run into the possibility of that side pressure or back pressure failing before you pronator. If this happens the exercise still feels hard, but not because your pronator is being challenged, but because your back or side pressure is getting a workout without your pronator being no where near it's point of failure. Just think about if you would be training your front delts with the bicep strict curl - even though you did the movement to failure your front delts were no way near failing since your bicep is the weakest think on that movement, which means that your bicep fails way before your front delts hence making the movements ineffective as an front delt exercise. The issue which comes from not having the force being universal (meaning that the lift is easier on some angels than on others) is that you aren't training all of the angles where the pronator would need to be wrong. Like just think if you would only train half squats - doing that wouldn't be a very effective way for getting strong at the lower portion of the movement, and similarly if you only train the pronator on some certain angle, that doesn't help you to get strong on all of the angels. That all said though, I'm not trying to say that you couldn't develop a strong pronator without this exercise. Like there are a lot of good ways to train the pronator and a lot of guys with strong pronators who don't do this exercise. My main point is that it's very hard to train the pronator effectively with linear force vectors (like cables and belts) because the pronator is a rotating movement instead of a pushing or pulling movement, so even though this isn't the only way to train it I would argue that it is still the most ideal way to train it, because it simulates the best the natural rotating movement pattern of the muscle.

Yes, if you go and buy the parts from a metal distributor you can just buy a thicker section to put there where you grab it and weld it on place. Also you can make that bar from a smooth iron bar. I just had these parts laying around and decided to try out this idea and it worked so good that I decided to show it. I know it's not an ideal model, but the basic idea is still pretty good and worth sharing. If I would make another one I would make it a bit differently for sure.

Wont the barbell tip once you actually put some real weight?
@T12J7
@T12J7 3 жыл бұрын
You can see that I have 20 kg plate at the other side of the barbell so the bar is in balance when I lift that 20 kg plate. If you lift more you add more weight to the other side to balance the barbell out. In this video I did a static hold with 70 kg which worked fine when I had 40 kg on the other side. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qbeXhsRprNu0n40.html Like if the other side is too light you will notice it when you start to wind the rope up because if it's too light the other end of the barbell will lift up. To fix this you just add more weight to it and try again. If you want to be 100% sure it will never tip you always have the same amount of weights on both ends, meaning that if you are lifting 50 kg you also have 50 kg on the other side.

It's not necessary to lube the inside of the pipe, because with heavier weights the pipe sticks to the bar and spins together with it. Remember that those Olympic barbells already have ball-bearings inside of the heads. On the last clip you can see it better - the handle spins together with the barbell head, utilizing the already existing ball-bearings inside of the barbell. 👍

Which is the length and diameter of the handle?
@T12J7
@T12J7 3 жыл бұрын
Hello. Regarding the pipe: Inside diameter: 50 mm Outside diameter: 61 mm Length: 280 mm Regarding the rod: length: 500 mm Diameter: 18 mm bend 51 mm (meaning that it has been bend so that there is 51 mm between the pipe and the bend rod) So those are the dimensions of this device which is in the video, but I would highly recommend that you get a pipe which has the inside diameter of 53 mm minimum. Like I have two barbells and this handle of mine only fits one of those so it is right at the edge of not fitting the 50 mm Olympic bars at all.

The handle in the video is a solution for this type of a pronation machine: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/prV5eLWJqraXpas.html&ab_channel=Entertainment311 So I'm not saying it's the only way to train pronation, just that if you want to train it this way and you don't want to buy that machine, you could just make a handle like this. Also, regarding that belt setup, in this video I try to explain a bit how the belt setup isn't maybe the most ideal way to train the pronator: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hZNyZamftK-mY4k.html&ab_channel=T12J7 Devon Larratt has also acknowledged this in this video where he also creates a solution for it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aM2Hlt2frbi5d3k.html&ab_channel=DevonLarratt Like Engin Terzi has also made a video about this issue but I can't find it since he might had deleted the video.
