I see what you’re saying. For me, when I see what it can do (mobile, easy to store, “free” shipping, high / low pulley, and all of the exercises I can get out of it), I take all of that into consideration when I consider price. So, in that respect, I think it’s a good value.

Nice one HGHR, not too many reviews of this piece, so good to see one up on here I considered this piece in 2020/early last year along with the Levergym as the main accessory to a squat/half rack, but I couldn't find any decent half racks that fit my specific criteria of being around 87-92 inches tall and had high enough racking points (I liked Rogues HR2 due to their westside spacing, but I couldn't rack a squat/OHP on it due to the bolts attaching the plate storage extension in the way, twas around 4-5 inches too low), so I went with the Body-Solid Rugged cage instead as it had westside spacing and a lat attachment option and was well priced But yeah, I find seated rows a pain in the butt to do on my racks lower cable as it's only 4-5 inches off the ground and I sit on a 20/25kg bumper plate for some leverage, but still not a great deal of leverage to work with, how do you find your rows on this cable tower compared to the IM2000?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, RWBB! The Body Solid with WS Spacing isn’t a rack I see in a lot of gyms, but it does look good. While I don’t do strict seated rows very often because they aggravate my back, the chest supported cable row I show in this video is a favorite and if I close my eyes, I really can’t tell the difference when performing it on the IM 2000. Both are equally smooth; the attachment just takes less time to set up.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews fair enough, I think if the cable is high enough into my midsection then I find it to be safe enough/feel comfortable enough doing the movement as I'm not a fan of my cable having a low centre of gravity though, though it looks like this cable tower is a bit higher than my racks cable tower. Yeah I'll end up doing chest supported or bent over rows instead too most weeks, but if I ever have the space I think the IM2000 (or whatever is its successor) would still win out due to its versatility Yeah was this I bought nearly 6 months ago, I got it from this supplier in Adelaide: bestfitness.com.au/collections/rugged-strength-fitness/products/rugged-series-full-rack-w-jcups-pin-safeties Though The Fitness Factory in Chicago (seems to be Body-Solids main distributor/or part of their operations) sells them too: www.fitnessfactory.com/item/6637/y100/rugged_power_rack/ Fitness Factory ranked it 3rd on their list of Body-Solid racks too

At 19" wide it might fit in a corner diagonally pretty well. Since the bench detaches when not in use might save space. It seems awkward to use it parallel to a wall. I'd be interested to know: 1) if putting the tower diagonal deep into a corner works well; 2) if the dumbbell adapter would hold other brands of adjustable dumbbells. I use Atavafit adjustable dumbbells. I suspect it might.

I sold this a while back so, unfortunately, I can’t test anything for you. If it’s stationed in a corner, the lower pulley can’t be used. I never tried with other dumbbells, but I think it could work too.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Ah, right I forgot about the low pulley on the other side. I was asking for a friend actually. I have an old IronMaster IM-1000 that I've had for almost 30 years. I'll never upgrade it, because it fits in a tight space just slightly better than the IM-2000. I also have Cybex Arc Trainer in the same room. I never got the low-pulley attachment, even when it was still available for the old model. I don't have the room to use it. I personally find a low pulley to be optional, whereas I do not see as optional a high pulley. I use pin and post landmine connector to attach a short bar to lowest rung of IM-1000 weight holder for a sorta T-bar action. I'm about to try upgrading my IM-1000 high pulley from plastic pulleys to aluminum.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews - I know right? I bought it in 1994. I was such a newb and for back I bought into the common wisdom that pull-ups were the superior exercise and the basics were all you need. After a number of years I started intensively on lats with that logic. All those pull-ups eventually got me was serious imbalance (no matter how much a tried to compensate) and horrible tendonitis on my weaker side. I finally had to learn the ways. I learned that fully pronated grip pull-ups are hugely problematic for those at or over 40. I learned the value of a more balanced approach and finally discovered the value of my high pulley. My back work now consists of pull-ups, partial pull-ups pronated or neutral grip (using Kensui Swissies on my bar), pull-downs, one arm pull-downs, landmine rows, dumbbell rows, etc. Some of that old-school advice is just wrong.

Thank you! My first choice will always be a functional trainer or cable cross over for high to low or low to high flys. However, this is a decent option with the Ultimate Row Handle. This machine has a 1:1 pulley ratio with a 250 pound weight capacity. The Ultimate Row Handle has a 250 pound weight capacity for cable work. For flys, most people stay below 100 pounds. I don’t do low to high flys with this set up because I don’t want the Ultimate Row Handle dragging the floor in this spare bedroom.

I saw in your current home gym tour that you no longer have this piece. When you had it did you notice a better or more natural motion for the low pulley as opposed to doing the same movement on the IM2000? I see that the low pulley on the Cable Tower Attachment is 11" high off the floor, when doing seated rows on the IM2000 I feel like I'm having to pull more upwards than I like. Having the low pulley higher off the ground seems like it would make it feel more like a commercial stand alone seated row.
@HomeGymHacksandReviews

I don’t do seated rows very often because it’s hard on my lower back. However, during testing, I do think I remember the lower pulley feeling slightly better for seated rows than the IM 2000. Presently, when I do cable rows, they are chest-supported.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Could I ask what made you decide to get rid of it? @@ryanwwest I cleared out the Ironmaster Gym and moved the IM 2000 in the garage. With all the equipment I have in the garage, I just didn’t have room and I had to sell equipment so I could buy new equipment to review. Also, I came up with a hack to make Pulldowns on the IM 2000 better. The Ironmaster Pulldown attachment can’t be placed against the wall like you said, but it’s very easy to move in and out of position if the cable tower seat is attached. A little bit harder if the Super Bench is attached.

It’s one of those things I would need to see and use. How accurate is the 86 inches height? My garage door when opened allows me 87.5 clearance. Would cut it close but will fit if height is accurate.

So the small seat you have to buy separately also? And the wheels or does it include it ?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the small seat is sold separately or the lat tower can be used with the Super Bench or Super Bench Pro. The wheels come with it.

@@pinkypromise111 for me, it would be the IM 2000, but as I’m sure you’ve seen, the cables do require some set up on the IM 2000 and you may need to sit on the floor for Pulldowns. As long as the attachment doesn’t hang too low, I can sit on the SBP and lock my legs under the Sit Up Attachment.

It seems IM is the do all be all equipment. IN most cases that might not be great as many times something like that might be lacking in some areas making it more gimmick than a true piece of equipment. BUT from all your videos it seems IM does a good job of giving you a bunch of options even if some are kind of awkward looking or strange. Sometimes that makes it fun and interesting to use and mess with. IM is like the Transformers of the gym world lol..Good video.Thanks

Thanks BBD! If I didn’t have a garage, what I have in this spare bedroom would cover every muscle group and exercise I would ever need. I agree, Ironmaster has done a great job with their product line working seamlessly with each and every piece.

The lat tower comes with one chain. I have 2 additional chains on the Ultimate Row Handle (sold separately) that enable me to do flys and presses.

@@B20Vitb oh yes, sorry. It works very well for a seated row. The height of the lower pulley seems to be placed well.
