When I was younger I did unpleasant jobs crawling into quite confined spaces. I couldn't go there now. Nor go into a submarine. How times change.

Yes, I do understand it's probably just for "safety," but as long as it's being suspended on cables beneath a surface vessel it's more diving bell than "submarine."

+John Ratko It was a test run after refit. The sub is untethered.

the problem with most home-made // personal submarines is that there are no water-to-air filtration systems

This is wrong. The oxygen storage is your last proble. Much more important is absorbing of CO2, so you need alot of soda lime. No matter where does your oxygen come from. And the biggest problem is the fatigue. Long before you suffocated, you are tired or dead of hypercapnia.

wrong... the real problem is that most home-made sub VIDEOS have annoying musical overlays.

If the motor and propeller can be made quiet enough, one can escape an authoritarian country on this. What's the range of the submarine?

@Wrackzeichner
@Wrackzeichner 5 жыл бұрын
@@tysk5729 It was designed for that kind of use. But when talking about non limited time I have something else in mind. For example my last scuba dive in Norway today. 18 minutes in depth of 60-67 m. Then hanging around and freezing on a line for half an hour during decompression. With a sub like this you have your 1-4 hours, where you see and shoot just everything and than just pop up. Over.

@@Wrackzeichner pretty dam.fucking awsome i gues i mean i thoug these diy submarines where mainly cause i can projects if its cause i can i gues its much cooler to make one for a few persons on 200m depth id gues a submarine would make me feel allot saver and warmer

Add at least 500 kg of displacement per additional person on board. The point of that one is being one of the smallest and easiest to handle fully functional dry submersibles ever built. And with a decent diving depth on top.

Same thing when you're scuba diving at depth and something goes wrong though. The difference is that a submarine, even a tiny one like this, can be fitted with much more safety and redundancy so that even when something goes wrong you still make it back to the surface.
