hey dude, awesome build! i think people have started to point this out already. the pivot joints for the set of two wheels are a bolt through metal. with the weight of a tank the bolts will wear and break within a short time. before you start getting to far may i suggest rebuilding that section using the same bearing system you are using for the wheels. the bearing will take the considerable weight of your tank and it will probably last forever.

Great work Dr! Couple of improvements for you: Turn you cut-off saw around so the sparks go outside, You need ear plugs when cutting or you'll go deaf And lastly, to help your designs, triangles are much stronger than rectangles/squares. You can save weight! Also gussets save weight too... Keep up the good work!

So, I'm building one as well and was wondering. Would it be better to have a suspension system like he has on the first wheel on all three ground contact wheels rather than the rotating bar for the second two?
@DarkestVampire92
@DarkestVampire92 4 жыл бұрын
1: Idler wheels dont work this way. They need to be as wide as the track, not thinner. 2: You have no means of tensioning the track, or keeping it in tension when the tank is travelling along bumpy ground. 3: The front wheels are unsuspended, leading to rather harsh conditions when you try to go up a slope or over a bump. 4: The suspension still doesnt work. You made the bogies bear the weight better, but they still dont have any travel whatsoever. The one suspended axle that used to have travel now no longer has any travel because you put a crossbeam there. I´ll follow this project, hopefully you read english comments too for some feedback, but as of now this is heading towards disaster.

I just started watching this. It's too bad that I don't understand the language that many comments are written in, but I get the sense that most are positive - at least I hope they are... this young fella is terrific! This is a prototype and it is so interesting how he builds with a sense of confidence... I'll be subscribing to see how this young genius does. Keep on keepin' on!!

CW, I agree with you comment and the project looks pretty cool. Allow me to add my initial observation while watching the fabrication. How is it that someone would wear an APR (air purifying respirator) while cutting steel but not wear any protection while welding steel. Arc welding steel is 3 to 4 times more toxic than using a cut-off saw. Thanks for letting me vent. I will post a comment directly to Dr. DS in case he missed this post.
@chuckwagon1892
@chuckwagon1892 4 жыл бұрын
@@PH_INFO_101 Yeah...There's that youthful indiscretion aspect to the young fellas approach, and I admit that his approach to safety wouldn't pass an OSHA inspection but what he is doing wrong with regard to safety is negligible.. So, I'm cutting him some slack with regard to safety. I'm sure he knows better.

Great build... do you have any concerns about the pivot points not having bearings? That much weight on a ungreased metal-to-metal surface might experience heavy wear or deform the holes the bolts ride through.

Neka ti oplata preuzme dio strukturne čvrstoće. Samo hrabro i baš se veselim nastavku!
