I've been late to the party, and since I've made the mistake myself, I'd caution using grease like that inside the chuck. It attracts way to much swarf and chips and dirt to the inside of your chuck. Also, it can decrease clamping force when cutting longitudinal to the chuck face. Besides that, I've really enjoyed the build, very creative and very sturdy. I've been a journeyman machinist for 26 years, so my personal build will one day be a wood lathe for home. Very impressed👍, great work buddy!!!

I love all the work , but spindle design could of been better . A Hole threw the spindle and a better bearing set up , a way to load the headstock bearings , putting slight pressure on then reduces chatter by like half . Now that u have a working lathe make a set of thick plate mounts to except a tapered bearing . Next a gear rack and carriage handle instead of reaching in the back of the lathe bed. All in all l love the design , the use of Linear rails nice touch. I just wanted to add my thoughts as I have been running lathes for over 35 years and making high end pool cues for 25 of them. Anyways , keep up the good work.

Top tip: Do'nt put grease in the chuck scroll, because: 1) It promotes the ingress of particulates(metal, swarf, etc), and air borne abrasives, dusts, etc ie it makes a great grinding paste, by holding these in contact with the mechanisms; 2) Grease as it vibrates(induced by tool cutting forces) will migrate from the mechanical interference junction(bevel gear/crown gear, scroll wheel/scroll jaw teeth) and promote a REDUCTION in clamping force ie part loosening at high speed! In general NEVER over lubricate(actially worse than under lubricating) a machine tool or its tooling for this reason, especially where iron(chilled or otherwise) are involved. Use EP high tackiness way oils(iso68)/or small amounts of EP semifluid grease(Iso220). The chuck has an oiler nipple and not a grease nipple for a reason! :) Keep safe and well.

Witaj Dexter144 jeszcze raz. Miałem wczoraj problemy z internetem , dlatego nie zdążyłem Cię zapytać. A mianowicie zainteresował mnie bardzo ten Twój zewnętrzny pulpit do sterowania falownikiem . Chciałbym podobny zrobić do swojej małej tokarki, a mam w niej też Topshaka AT1-2200X.

@dexter1448
@dexter1448 2 жыл бұрын

Im using a 2,2kW 400V 3 Phase AC Motor with a Inverter so i can use my lathe on the 230V Grit. Ive set the inverter so that the Motor produce at low speed more Torque... The con of this is that this will heat the Motor up. But when you only turn a few Minutes at very low Speed this is okay...

Hallo Dexter, super Teil was du dir da zusammen geschraubt hast. Was hast du da bei dir verbaut?
@dexter1448
@dexter1448 2 жыл бұрын
Moin, Freut mich!

While the shaft is long you have the opportunity to true the back face of the chuck face... You can face the face of the face... Unless you don't want to face up to the face you aren't facing. Now I have to face... rewinding the video. No wonder I prefer machines, back stabbing only happens... if you're running away. Your lathe... and video, turned out alright. Well done.
@dexter1448
@dexter1448 2 жыл бұрын
