I went to Dollar Tree and got 4 pair of work gloves of different kinds . I picked up canned chicken dark and light . I got some single pak spam , the packs of chicken salad in pouch's rice , beans , I got A1 steak sauce , brown mustard , 4 tarps , 4 plastic drop cloths , those ropes that's on those spools , zip ties , fire starters , matches , lighters , 2 and half gallon bags , gallon bags , quarts bags , aluminum foil rolls and sheets , solar lights , bandages , bandaids , antibiotic cream , pain relief , stomach medicine , diarrhea tablets , liquid bath soap and bar soap , hand sanitizer , alcohol and taper candles and those tall candles in thick glass , ant bait for fire ants . Toilet paper , paper towels, tissues , Epsom salts , all kinds of spices I spent a lot but I am definitely getting things for pantry. Happy Mother's Day 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

I finally found the 2.5 gallon zip bags. I have been searching for those for months. Being I don't know if they will come back in their inventory, I bought 8 boxes of them. I did buy the small candles in the mason jars. Finally found them too. Bought all the same scent. I took the candle wax out, melted it and put it in an old Yankee Candle glass jar. I have the long wicks for it. The mason jars I washed, sanitized them. They are ready for when I make strawberry preserves.

Look for the canned black beans with jalapenos and lime. They are made by the Hanover company. I put 2 cans of the beans, a can of chili ready tomatoes, a can of water and a $tree smoked sausage in the crockpot and cooked it on low. Deeeeelicious over rice!

You can take a 20 lb. bag of rice and put 10 lbs. of it in a Dollar Tree 2.5 gallon zipper liock bag. Add a 2000 cc oxygen absorber. Fold the top of the bag to face the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket. This completely seals the bag. You don’t need Mylar bags. The 5 gallon bucket holds 2 10 lb. bags. You can use a 300 cc oxygen absorber also. These 2.5 gallon zipper bags at Dollar Tree are awesome and much cheaper than Mylar bags.

I checked our local grocery stores sale ads and can't believe the prices are still up there. We aren't spending any money right now, even for pantry items. Our budget has been cut severely, I am grateful that we have a big pantry and the house is paid off. I keep hearing that people are now starting to take a second mortgage out on their house, don't do it unless you really have to. It's to easy to end up homeless.

I go through my stockpile weekly to organize it by dates. I always write on the front of the can and on the top the use by date, and the date purchased and the price. It's amazing how much prices change. Well it doesn't change with Dollar Tree prices, but from anywhere else. Gloves, I always pick up as well. Can never have enough of those. The scoops....I have yet to find them in any of the Dollar Tree's I go to, and there are about a dozen of them around here. The scoops and the Kinder spices...never see them there. I keep checking for them. Lentils, I always pick up about 6 of them when I go in. Love them, and so do my chickens. I cook them up and give them as a treat to the chickens. They devour them.

Also calendula petals, marigold petals, fresh oregano stems, fresh mint stems....fresh grown cukes and so much more. Winter months are slim Pickens. I do dry the calendula petals for them, marigolds, zinnias, mint, lemon balm, rose petals. My property is free of pesticides and chemicals for a very long time. Take a break from it. It's hard when the only connection with preparing is through the internet. I don't know anyone personally that prepares and I believe my husband humors me with my preparing but with the economy, the border, the world - What if???? I watched the movie American Blackout in 2013 and it changed the way I prepared. I recently watched the documentary Grid Down Power Up and it frightened me because electric power impacts everything we do. It's summertime and people are carefree going to the beach having fun, no worries. I think what am I doing but I am a planner always have been and I remember the close family members who literally don't have enough food in their homes to make it until next Friday. If nothing ever happens oh well we have plenty to eat at yesterday's prices. Then there is that short news clip that is stuck in my head of the young woman in a Ukrainian city that looked like any city, USA a few weeks before the invasion being asked if she was worried and she said oh no that will never happen. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip on cooking lentils in a rice cooker. We cook rice all the time, anything on a bed of rice (jasmine-sweet smell and taste) it makes everything go further and it's filling. We will be trying it out Monday 2/3 rice and 1/3 lentils. Our tip for you - steak sauce, dressing mustard etc. After we open them and use some we add some water to it shake it up and refrigerate. You can do it a couple of times. Refrigerating thickens it up and will make it last longer. The flavor is the same. Kids won't notice.

I love when you do your DT grocery hauls. Its nice to see the different things in other stores. Ive been looking for months for those fire starters in my DT and they finally got them in. Our DT seems to only put them out in the spring along with the citronella candles and tiki torches. I guess in my area they consider the fire starters as a summertime only item. I always get a chuckle when you grab more matches, but now I chuckle over the scoops you keep buying. Im wondering to myself how many buckets you must have. I recently picked up the corn bread mix, Im sure we will like it also. Thanks for all the video's and sharing your great hauls with us, it really does help.
