Oh My Goodness!! I had to share with y’all. I am a 911 dispatcher and this is National Dispatcher week. A “civilian” wanted to show their appreciation for us and brought in hundreds of dollars of shelf stable items. Canned chicken, instant potatoes, instant oatmeal, canned veggies/fruits..the list goes on. In all my years, I have never witnessed such a generous gift.

There are a LOT more good people in the world; though just about all we hear about is people doing bad things, or even worse, being lied to and told that people who actually are ethical and moral are bad people - small wonder, since the powers that be are servants of their god, satan....GOD bless ALL who are doing good and helping out others with Facts, Truth, Wisdom and LOVE 🥰

My girlfriends and I are we get together and I have a membership with the restaurant food outlet. So I buy those great big cans of 64 ounces of mustard, ketchup, miracle whip. We go to my house and I open them up and we divide them up and we all go home with enough condiments to last us for a long time. We are all single women so we don’t have to feed a family but it’s really hard to be just ourselves. So doing this we bypassed the expensive cost of a very large bottle of ketchup! We also water bath these condiments and put them in our long-term storage and our using pantry.

The store I shop at had the pkgs of instant potatoes for 78 cents. A dozen pkgs came home with me. I love to mix them in when I make potato soup. I got generic mac-n-ch for 48 cents a box. I bought a case of 24 pkgs. I always get pasta & pasta sauce, rice & beans in our senior food give-away boxes. We get the large cans of tuna or chicken breast too. Plus boxes of cereal, juice, qts of shelf stable milk, canned veggies & canned fruit in the boxes. That really helps save me on my food budget.

While not under a $1, I have used a can of spam (GV brand is fine, much cheaper) divided in thirds and used each third, chopped or julienned, to make a meal. Veggies and potatoes or rice, as a soup, or stir-fry, each meal easily fed 3 adults. One can of spam and we were basically able to feed 9 people. Think outside the box and try things now so you aren't stressing when the time comes.

A spam and vegetable stir fry over rice is good. Add a little canned fruit at the end of stir frying and use the fruit juice with corn starch and some soy sauce to make a thickened sauce. Don't add salt. You get plenty from the spam and soy sauce.

Instead of canned gravy, I stock up on powdered gravy mix. The Good Value brand has several flavors... mushroom, Au Jus, chicken, turkey, and brown. I top roasts in the slow cooker with them, or throw them in soups to thicken them up. And sometimes as actual gravy. The cost here is about 33 cents. They're flat and smaller, so take up a lot less space than the cans.

I like this video, but if a solar flare takes out power... unless you've got stored water, most of that food can't be eaten. So I suggest spending a little more than $20 and buy a couple of gallons of water each week. But if you have a water source on your property - disregard. I would alternate the weeks to buy pasta, rice, potatoes etc. and other weeks buy the canned meats.

Walmart has small cellophane bags of alphabet noodles and maybe some other shapes for 33 cents, I think three would make a pound. It is a Mexican company I think and the alphabets...is it me?...but they always tasted superior maybe because they are fine and absorb the flavor and it is amusing for children. I even buy like bunny shapes for myself. The seashells are superior tasting too. I like angel hair and do amazing things with it. But I wanted to tell all about the little gem bags of pasta. My WM still has the GV Country Sausage and Gravy for $.98 a can. I use it in place of cream of soups. Chop up onion and celery and cook until tender, add in the gravy and a can of liquid (milk, broth ect). Stir and add a box of stuffing mix, stir gently, turn off heat and put on lid. Should be done in 10-15 minutes. I also chop up a head of cabbage, put in a bag with a little salt and put in the fridge for several hours or overnight. I dump out the entire bag, salty water and all, into a casserole dish. I add sliced onions and a can of the gravy and a can of milk. I like to add mustard of some kind, usually yellow and stoneground. Stir together and bake until the cabbage is tender . 350 for about an hour. Carrots are good to add. Can add other seasonings but I stick to what I like. Can also add unseasoned bread cubes or a box of stuffing.

I have been appalled at how many young people have no idea how to plan a grocery list, let alone a budget! I have taught many (& my sons have taught their friends) how to make the most of what they have and give themselves a little food security. I always suggest to newbies that they pick a dollar amount that is for getting extras for the stockpile each shopping trip. To generate the $$ for stockpiling I suggest implementing at least 2-4 very cut-rate meals a week (oatmeal- not in$tant- for breakfast, pancake & eggs for dinner or beans, pack your own lunch, etc) and no fast food, even cheap stuff is expensive when $$ are tight. That might only generate $10 but that is a great start for a small family. First 3-4 trips, get actual basic foods (starches, veggies, tomato products, beans). Next 4-8 trips, get variations (mushrooms, cream soups, chilis, gravy, seasoning & sauce packets) plus 1 or 2 meat items. Trips after that start a list of bulk seasonings to systematically add one at a time to the pantry plus more of everything else they have been getting. It seams to have worked very well for most.

Due to a cut in job hours we have been eating out of our stocked pantry for 3 weeks now. Variety is important, how many times can you pour gravy over something before it is nauseating. We opened a can of spam had a couple of sandwiches with the left over spam I made macaroni salad for with ranch dressing and pea's. Kroger has a good sale in my area of buy 5 for 99 cents. There tuna is usually .89 cents. We have a couple of more weeks to go with no shopping before we build back up our savings account. Keep stocking up on items when you can find them cheap. You can never tell when something is going to come along and knock the wind out of you.

Thank you for your video. There's no such thing as "under a buck" here in Commie Canaduh, ... unless it's a one time sale on soups. Ramen noodles don't count eh? Damn the price, FULL PREP AHEAD! Keep up the great work And good luck.

Buy plenty of $1 bags of rice to put aside for barter. When neighbours come begging for food, just give them a $1 bag of rice or pasta, rather than let them know you have a 10kg sack.

The ramen soups..I try to get beef. The seasoning is great for French onion soup. I have also used them in a pinch to make a quick gravy. Any kind of cream soup, I add a packet for a little extra boost. It also works to toss on potato wedges with olive oil and bake for some zesty fries!

Great video Jinne ….. you got quite a variety of things. To be honest, even though I’ve been in Walmart many times in the last month, I’ve never done a search for items that were specifically under a dollar. Usually I’m looking for specific things but next time I go, I will take the time to really concentrate on that. Thank you for your hard work and great info !! Love your channel ❤️

I always shop by price and get the cheapest things on the shelves. I also do unit price comparisons. Be careful because they are tricky and sneaky. You think you are paying less but you would be surpeised at how much more per unit you are paying. Needless to say, my math skills are improving exponentially! lol..

Walmart sells 10# of chicken quarters for $6.42 or 62¢ a pound. I washed, trimmed and pressure canned 20# of them. It is so easy to make chicken noodle soup with them. I put 5 pieces in a quart jar with chicken broth for canning. Open the jar, remove the pieces from the jar, save the liquid for your soup. I also love their frozen veggies. They are cleaned, trimmed and flash frozen the day they are picked. I dehydrated a bunch of them as well as some fresh celery. I can throw mixed veggies or peas or dehydrated onions in the soup as well. Throw dehydrated broccoli florets into Mac and cheese after rehydrating. Put dehydrated peas in your tuna casserole after hydrating. I have 2 Excalibur dehydrators (excellent quality) that I bought at yard sales for 10% of the cost of new!

Thank you for your effort and success! Please do a video of things under$1.59. . YOU'll be A-M-A-Z-E-D at how much more there is. It's the new $1 unfortunately. I never buy soup anymore. Save all veg scraps, broken pasta, bones, skin and weird bits and freeze. When you have enough make bone broth just add 1 tbl of vinegar per Qt of water. Make beef, chicken fish bone broth. Or just veggie broth. Add fresh frozen or canned vegetables, rice , beans, pasta or make a creamy soup with mashed potato flakes to thicken butternut squash ( or a roasted pepper and can of tomatoes with garlic, celery or chili etc add a milk item( EVAP, crm ch, sour crm) to taste creamy. Ramen pkts or bouillon are great for flavor but, I buy one new spice each shopping trip so I build up a spice cabinet of possibilities that last months. The mundane takes on new life as curry rice, taco soup, asian pasta, italian lentils, greek veggies, Jamaica potatoes..🌍 International fun!

Hi Jinne, I so appreciate you doing these. People beginning to get their pantries filled will especially benefit from these videos. Plus those of us that have been doing this a while can get ideas for our own pantries. I'm working on putting some pasta in Mason jars and using oxygen absorbers so it lasts longer. I didn't grow up with Vienna sausage but the plus is that you can add it to a can of pork and beans or Mac and cheese. Add some canned vegetables for a complete meal. Back when I was doing Weight Watchers there's a great recipe with cornbread stuffing mix, a small can of green chilies and onions and hamburger for a Mexican meatloaf. It had the enchilada sauce on top. I really liked it. I would only put 1/2 can of green chilies in it, because I grew up in the Midwest and wasn't exposed to spicy foods.

I use the Ramen noodles in the cup. I add the Great Value mylar packet of Premium White Chicken from the tuna isle. This chicken is cubed so it fits nicely inside the styrofoam cup. On occasion I will add some of that taco powder. About $2 per serving. The chicken takes this to a much higher nutritional level. Great meal on the trail or shtf....and only the fork to wash. Great vid!

Today I went and was looking around the produce section. I did pick up avocados, they are currently running $.68 each. Bananas were $.24 each and the mini pies which here are a nice treat now and then were $.74 each. The GV brand of pork and beans are also under a dollar at $.82 a can. The GV brand pasta shells are just under a dollar at .98 each, the canned carrots are .88 a can so added them to my stock. The seasoning I picked up was for fajitas, but I use it for a lot of other things that I cook as you do the taco seasoning. It is great on a pan of "spanish rice" with onions, peppers and hamburger. We also use the diced potatoes the same way and add to a meal. The frozen peas and carrots I like to keep on hand for fried rice and they are the GV brand at .88 each. A small can of jalopena peppers and a box of Jiffy cornbread mix mixed together makes a great side dish for chili nights, there are easy recipes online for this. One of the meals that we were told is a poor mans meal is tater dogs, they are boiled hotdogs, sliced down the middle, not all the way rhrough, add a bag of the instant potatoes and spoon into the middle of the hotdogs, top with American cheese slices and bake for twenty minutes. Easy fixed meal with a vegetable on the side. We use jello a lot as it adds to the meal or can be a dessert for after. I spent 51.68 today and got 64 items. I really like to try to find those deals where you can stock up and it not take a huge chunk of the budget away. Great video

I loved what you stated about the ramen noodles. When our children were younger, and we camped a lot I did a very similar meal with a little browned beef, some canned tomatoes, frozen or canned mixed veggies and the ramen noodles. A little salt, pepper, garlic and it was a really good one pot meal over the fire while we were camping. The kids absolutely loved it.

I've started my food inventory last week. I've moved all cans into new plastic tote boxes with lids, so I'll fill one box with just potatoes, another just sweetcorn, another just carrots, and so on. Once I start dipping into these preps, or add to them, I'll use my inventory to change the amount. That way I can see what else I need to buy, how much I have left, and plan meals.

Please don't stockpile in that way. If you lost a bin you would lose all of whatever you lost. You'd lose all your meat. You'd lose all your sugar. You'd lose all your corn, carrots, peas, or what ever. Make it so You'd have a meal if you could only grab one PAck, packet, bunch, group, jar...one sack!!!!

My WM usually has the GV chicken and rice soup and the vegetable beef soup for under $1 a can. I have a lot of the veggie beef. I think the two pack of lipton cup of soups are 99 cents. You could get the boxes that had 6 or 7 individual freeze dried coffee packets in them for $1, though the last time I was there they didn't have any. I used to also get bags of pizza crust mixes for 69 cents, but haven't gotten any in a while as I have a lot stored. I'm sure they are much higher now.
