I found getting the bottom water pump bolt and removing the 3 bolts from the water pump pulley while on the car to be much simpler by going in behind the front wheel. 2 Clips to release enough fender skirt to make the job simple.

thank you bro. I worked on my car with your guidance and able to achieve it.i was scared at first but its actually not that bad I changed my water pump alternator as well and replaced my old serpentine belt the only area I struggle for a bit was the pulley it was a challenge to put the 3 10mm screws back in considering the little working space

I'm attempting this job on 2012 4 cylinder accord and mine does not have the 3 pulley bolts that you undo to remove the pulley. Has anyone come across this? How do I get the pulley off of the water pump?
@bwh20075 жыл бұрын
After some research I found that there are 2 water pump models sold by Honda for 8th Gen accords. One has a fixed mount pulley and the other has a removable pulley. I replaced mine with the fixed mount pulley version but if I ever do the job again I will switch to the removable pulley version. Being able to remove that pulley will make the job easier.

I have the fixed mount pulley as well, struggling to figure how to get the water pump pulley off, with no accessible nuts to remove it. How did you get it off?

Please add what type of engine this is. It is NOT the 3.5L V6 engine. I just found out the hard way.

READ THIS: - loosen the lower alternator bolt and remove the top bolt. Then swing the alternator forward. This will give you room to reach the water pump bolts. - The serpentine belt tool is a necessity on this job. - Be extremely careful removing the three 10mm bolts that hold the water pump pulley in place. I rounded off two of mine. It is impossible to see the hole the Allen key fits in. The hole exists at about 12:30 (clock position). - I found it extremely difficult to remove the water pump. I had to use a combination of small extensions and drive adapters (1/2, 3/8 and 1/4 inch) to act as super short extensions, to get the perfect length to fit on the water pump bolts. These bolts were on very tight. - I advise putting the car up on ramps. That way you won't have to bend over so much, and you will be able to get under the car to install/remove the serpentine belt on/off the crankshaft pulley. - A fender cover or a big beach towel, is a good idea to prevent scratching the paint. - Rushing this job will result in stripped, "rounded off" or cross-threaded fasteners. - In my opinion, this job is not for the faint of heart.

Good video. Am I the only one who had to remove the top bolt and loosen the lower bolt to roll the alternator out of the way to get the pulley out? I just could not get it to clear the WP and frame.

You didn't show the removal of the bottom screw. Because you have to get it from the bottom right side. You didn't the hard way.

Does anyone know if the timing belt needs service after this?
@BakedZitiYoutube5 жыл бұрын
Leo Serna if you have the I4 then no, if you have v6 then might as well since it's right there. Check if it's loose and change if so, or around 70k-100k miles
@Sushilover2235 жыл бұрын
Thin belt that we see is called serpentine belt or drive belt. The timing belt are for the crank and camshaft which for Honda is mostly for v6 engine and it’s behind a timing cover(plastic) this engine is a i4 and has timing chain that never needs service until you have a bad chain
@alexxicotli76657 жыл бұрын
Have you change the timing belt on one of these engines?
@1spark27 жыл бұрын
This engine has a timing chain. Honda with belts have plastic covers.
