A full review of my Honda ADV150 motorcycle scooter in Bangkok, Thailand. Watch in full to see a close up and detailed review of all aspects of this great motorbike. I discuss perfomance, tuning and real life riding experiences. Used for local transport in the city of Bangkok and touring all over the country of Thailand. The Honda ADV 150 is well worth considering as a good medium distance bike. A relative of the ever popular Honda PCX150 so tried and trusted technology.
Forgot to add in video:
The bike has a 12v power outlet in the watertight fairing box for plugging in a USB charger
1) Package of CVT upgrade, throttle induction intake and exhaust stainless steel downpipe upgrade = 9,000 Baht
2) Front fork upgrade kit and fitting = 2,900 Baht
3) Pair of Pirelli Angel tubeless tyres = 4,000 Baht
All above modifications took one day at Set by Sar.

What a great video. Very comprehensive and delivered brilliantly. I'm just planning a switch from a PCX to an ADV as the roads here in Phuket are a very mixed bag. And SO many random speed bumps. This has been a great help. Thanks, and safe motoring.

Great video and review! Looks like SetbySar (may have spelled wrong) did a real top notch job and you did a good job with your camera giving a look deep inside at their work. The transmission work really makes a big difference on these scooters and the work you had done would have been the first thing I would do (performance wise) to any scooter I got.

One of the best English videos about the ADV, appreciate the time you put in. Have you tried standing up, like adventure style. For example to go over speed bumps or sharp bumps (like they do on the big ADV bikes)? I tried on my 2021 PCX and its extremely awkward so I just lean forward and lift my bum slightly. I am sick and tired of speed bumps and wondering if taking them in ADV is a lot less jarring.
@EddieManning
@EddieManning 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. It's quite comfortable for up to 2 hours without stopping. Standing up really wouldn't be an option though the suspension is good.

Great video, very easy to understand. You have a nice voice. One question, if you please. What kind of rear luggage rack is that? It looks very rugged and well made. I'm looking for one to put on my adv 150.
@EddieManning

Thanks Paul. The box and rack came as a dealer fitted option and can be purchased separately. The box is GIVI and is water tight, secure and can be carried like a case. Don't know the size in litres but it was perfect for trips. It latches on to the rack easily. Cost to have the rack fitted and supply of box just over 4,000 Baht.

Good choice. I hope you're enjoying your ADV. I think that that variator/clutch Rollers are pretty much a same upgrade kit. You would need to talk with each workshop as to if there are any differences. Set by Sar in Bangkok were very good and seemed really professional. They had machine shop and customisation services too.

Hi eddie. Great review of the ADV 150. I’m also in waiting for my bike the same color with yours. And what type of oil that you’ve chose? Thanks

Honda are doing the servicing. They offer top quality oil which so far have had done at 1000, 6000 and 12000kms. They changed the gear oil each time too. From now will probably change every 4000kms.

Great review Eddie. Iv done about 18,000 km ,on mine I bought the one with the extras already fitted, crash bars, top box, phone holder, headlight protectors, etc, etc, It really is a fantastic bike. How much did it cost?

Thanks Colin. The bike with all the extras added looks good. It was available when I bought mine but I didn't need everything it comes with. As for the cost of the tuning upgrades, I added that in the film description. Happy riding up there in Chiang Mai. You've got some great roads.

Nice bike and great explanation of the mods! 👍🏻 I was just wondering since only the diameter of the exhaust pipe was changed and they retained the original muffler, it looks like there's a bit of a bottle neck at where they braze welded the pipe/muffler and also the tip of the exhaust itself. Did you get to try the bike with only the CVT mod and not with the intake/exhaust piping mod to see the difference? 🍻
@EddieManning
@EddieManning 2 жыл бұрын
No I didn't try the bike with only the cvt modification. The exhaust mod is sure to allow greater gas flow and they appear to have removed restriction in the silencer too. The flange on the pipe at the exhaust manifold end was all new. Very professional job.

You changed your stock tires to Pirelli City Angels. What size did you go for the front tire? Pirelli doesn’t make the same width as the original tire if I’m not mistaken.
@EddieManning
@EddieManning 3 жыл бұрын
Pirelli angel did not have a front fitment for the correct size. As riden speeds are low at less than 115kmh (and much lower if wet) I went with a rear fitment of the correct size. Consider it right or wrong, as a qualified motorcycle technician I accept the situation. Handles great though!

Nice breakdown on mods. Also going to be switching from PCX to ADV asap. Back roads here in Jakarta are like BKK, too many random speed bumps and holes. BTW are those Pirelli Angels a bit firm or still offer a nice cushion? Many thanks and happy riding 👍🏻
@EddieManning
@EddieManning 2 жыл бұрын
The Pirellis seem a bit more grippy and give confidence. It's not a 250kmh sports bike so probably not essential. Still good to have the reassurance. Suspension makes the difference but no speed bumps are any good.
