It’s 4:30 am. Power has been out 2 days. My heat is back on thanks to your video. Just followed your procedure. Carb was dirty.

I own one of those generators. Primarily used to power my ice fishing shanty . It was acting up last winter and now I feel confident that I can clean the carburetor up before the ice fishing season comes. Thanks for the great video. 👌

I'll tell ya, Honda's are a real pleasure to work on. I have repaired a few that had a filter in the tank, an inline filter, and another filter inside the settlement bowl. The quality at Honda and the engineering is far beyond the competition! Good video man!

Your video was great. Worked like a charm. My 2000 now runs like new. I had a bunch of gunk in the bowl, jet was completely clogged. I could not get the motion tube to come out, but sprayed through it alot. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks ,,followed your advice and cleaned it all out ,plus the plastic jet above the adjustment screw and it runs perfect, thanks to You and all who do repair video's, have a great one.

This is a must do! Count the turns to remove the Idle speed screw then gently pry the jet up to remove. You must index the direction of the jet when you put it back on... The last 1/16" or so when pressing it into place is critical!!!! Jim

After all the carbs I clean i still like to watch carb clean videos. That little spring is the key to happiness when working on those gensets. LOL Nice work Bob. You got it after a bit of fun. Sorry for the late reply. Out of town for a while.

Good video. You should clean the low idle jet while you had it torn down. I get a few of these after burning man with that white fine alkaline dust on every cravis. I enjoy your videos. I do small engine repairs here in the beautiful Napa Valley CA. After our bad fire season our power company will shut down power in a extreme fire danger so generators are a big deal here.Thanks for the videos. I also have an ultrasonic bath for some small carbs that does a great job for 2 cycle.

My carb has a screw that can be loosened to drain the remaining fuel in the bowl. I use K100 stabilizer for my fuel, never had any issues with the genset. Thanks for the vid DW6.

Thanks - good video. I’m going to try your fix. Those jack stands in your video look like they’re from Harbor Freight. There is a safety recall on some of them - I just returned mine.

Fantastic machines, I’d own one if I could justify the price. Nice video! If you ever find a carb jet that your existing screwdrivers don’t fit, look into a set of gunsmith drivers, or Wera drivers. They’re always ground, not stamped, and ground to various thicknesses.

Have two of these. One is a 2000 companion that I run in parallel for needed amps on the RV air conditioning when boondocking. Also have a 5 gallon gas can that feeds both units through special Honda gas caps I purchased. They never run out of gas in that configuration

I've fixed several of those generators in the past. It's always the carburetor that's the problem. That electric module on the carb is actually a motor that works the throttle and takes the place of a cable. Just like their cars.

Just curious if you source non ethanol gasoline? If not, do you run it on a regular basis or use a fuel additive? Thanks

@@allaboutroofing2 Here in Canada apparently Canadian Tire gas bar is non ethanol, so I use their Regular Gas, no additives or stabilizer, I use it mostly during Summer to run tools.

you will find that if it is starving for fuel , remove the fuel tank , there is a screen in the hose that attach's to the the bottom of the tank , so be very gentile when removing that hose

At 11:27 your chair moved but at first I thought you ripped a fart. I'm still laughing. Have two of those generators here at home for backup power. Tried one but it just wasn't enough juice and with two these generators tied together it is the perfect compromise. Plenty of power and if one unit has a problem then you already have a duplicate backup unit. They are just fantastic little workhorses.

I really appreciate you making this video. It is very helpful. One question....when you are re-installing the jet....is there an adjustment? Or do you just snug it down and call it a day? I always worry about cleaning carbs. It seems like every time that I do it, I screw up the adjustment and need to have someone dial it in for me. Thanks for you help

I'm going to inherit one of these has been used for a while and obviously does not start a few more comfortable putting in a new carburetor since they're not that expensive and the generator cost me nothing what brand carburetor do you recommend as there are so many knock-offs online

one of my kids tried to running a gas and oil mix thru their Honda 2000i. i followed you video to clean the carb, drained the bad has and cleaned the fuel filter. ran once. now wont start. any ideas?

I did that cleaning, still have same issue on rough start up and won’t run off eco, like starving for fuel, fuel cleaning or replacing next

I have two and never had a problem till this spring. Neither will start. I'm thinking its lack of fuel. It's not getting fron tank to carb. Any ideas?

FYI, you don't have to remove the "electric throttle" from the carb to remove the carb from the generator. Push up on the locking tab on the side of the white plastic cap shown at 4:15, and remove it. You now have access to unplug the electrical connection.

After cleaning or draining the carburetor, fill the tank completely and let it sit for ten minutes with the cap off. Gravity will fill the bowl and prime the carburetor and it will start on the first pull.

Likely one of the most common generators out there and "I don't work on these very often" is a scary statement.

@@rickbraden4272 in other words if you put ethanol in and leave it sit for 6 months or more, it doesn't matter how reliable the generator is if the carb is clogged from corrosion.

You should have the cover back on when you run it. That way the cooling enters where it is supposed to & gets ducted to inverter cooling fins & engine.

When my generator gets wet in the rain it won't start till it sits for a few days then runs. Anyone know why it does that?

I have eu2000i and it would running kind of bad and it ran pretty good for about 3 hours and then it died out and I checked my oil and they had gas in the oil what's wrong with it let me know Cajun land Church Point Louisiana
