*Fantastic little **Generater.Systems** ! I have a slide in camper on my truck and this ran for at least 14 hours on less than a gallon of fuel mainly running lights and water pump. With the small load it had no problem running in eco mode and was so quiet we had to listen close just to see if it was running.*

Aaron. The pilot / low speed jet you took out is usually the problem with Honda's and the clones. Sometimes, they need to be cleaned. cut a wire from a wire brush to do that. It fits perfectly. Once in, you will be able to see the wire through the cross drilled hole. That is as far as it goes. Also, at times, as the engine gets a lot more hours on it, you may have to use a "wire size" drill bit and pin vise to open the jet one size to stop the surging you experienced. A very common problem with this carb design.

Top O-ring was missing, that will make it run rough. There should be an o-ring on the top and bottom of the Pilot Jet you pulled out.

It was dirty. You blew it clean. That’s all these need if taken care of with proper fuel and stabilizer. Moisture and dryness cycle of the garage or storage will get to these gens if not used frequently.

Higher octane does not mean it has less ethanol or will better resist gumming up the carb. Check out pure-gas map and find a station selling 0% ethanol gas. But the best thing is to run it dry or drain the carb before storing. Always more effective than using stabil. I also suggest a better flashlight.

He didn't show the harder part, which is how to shove the rubber tube from the air filter back into the engine. I bent the tube into a U shape and use small tie wrap to hold in place. Shove it back inside and cut the tie wrap. This video contains good info.

There is a tiny hole that runs up through it to the bigger hole that goes across it I used a piece of a wire brush to poke the hole it’s tiny but anyway looks like u got it

Thanks for video. To keep this from happening, run aviation fuel 87 octane or higher. It has no ethanol and the aviation gas has a 2+ year shelf life. Stabil is not a panacea. Second, always run genset dry if not planning to use for several months....you will save much time and effort.

My jet didn't seem to have a hole in it, but it was completely blocked. I didn't have anything that thin to insert so I used the smallest drill bit I had to make a hole. Some plastic actually came off so I'm wondering if the hole is too big now. It did sort of fix the surging, but it still does it just not as bad. Might have to play with the idle screw some more.

My does the same, I solved the problem by not completely putting the idle lever all the way to the idle position.

You didn't show how to clean the pilot jet..? Need a very small wire with the help of a w40 pressure ..from 5 star i will give you 2 only..lol..!

Octane rating has no relation to whether your gasoline has ethanol in it or not. In fact, ethanol actually provides a pretty good boost to the octane rating calculation! It used to be that gas pumps had to inform you how much ethanol was in the gas, but thanks to the efforts of our environmentalists (and the ethanol lobby) they no longer have to as long as it is not greater than 15%. HOWEVER, there are gas stations (my local Marathon is one) which have a single pump of 91 octane "ethanol free" gasoline. It costs about $1.00 more a gallon, but I won't run my small engines on anything else.

.35 mm pilot (idle) jet .. a twist tie wire fits (but be careful .. get the twist tie wire “real” straight)

I have 4 of these Honda EU2000i. I had problems with the gas that I was using, buy gas with no ethanol. Honda's design will not allow you to run generator dry. The on and off switch does two things. One it's your shut off switch electrically and two it turns gas flow off to carb. How can you run it dry if the engine dies from turning the electrical switch off? There is a fix for that. They make a kill switch that by passes the original kill switch, by doing that you are able to turn the gas off and let the generator run out of gas. The added kill switch is there in case you need to shut down the generator in a hurry. I removed that black plastic jet also and the hole must be very small. All I did was spray carb cleaner in the end and blow it out with an air hose. Use some type of lube on small o-ring and just press it back in. My generator runs great now. I did clean all my jets and carb bowl and filled gas tank with 100% gas no ethanol.

Do not use 93 octane gas in those generators. Read your manual. Running 93 octane is not good for them!

Having a baseball cap on doesn’t help when you’re trying to see what’s going on!
