Honda HRV Serpentine Belt and Idler Pulley DIY

2 жыл бұрынMy friend thought their vehicle had internal engine damage when they brought it to me! The sound this vehicle was making was enough to wonder, but It was only the idler pulley. This video will show you haw to change these items to get yours back in the road again. Be careful, and enjoy!

Harmonic balancer looked like the rubber was cracked all the way around.

Might have been, but the vehicle was a 2017, so I suspect it is still good.

Was it any different when a/c was on? How many miles? My is doing it with a/c on.

Not sure if mileage, but when your AC is on, it is placing a larger load on the serpentine belt tensioner and idler pulleys. I would change these two pulleys before committing to any AC work. Cheaper if it fixes your problem.

Should be better to change also the belt tensioner when changing the serpentine belt or not really necessary is this diagram also same as 2020 model year

Does the bolt loosen counter clockwise

One of them does, I mentioned it in the video at some point. Sorry, I don’t recall at the moment.

what's the torque on the bolt?

Some sources say 19ftlbs, but I said snug, then 1/8 more turn. Should stay tight due to the motion of the belt in the tightening direction.
