Honda Rancher 350 ES Reverse Wasn't Working

The reverse function of this Honda Rancher 350 ES ATV four-wheeler was not working correctly. It would shift up and down but would not shift into reverse.

Thanks for the video. Just like to add that if you use a come-along to lift the rear about 45 degrees you won't lose any oil when removing the sensor

have the exact same problem with mine....knew about sensor, but gonna have to check to see if cable is moving lever...hard to do like you said with one person...great vid...Peace.

Use a camera to video it when you pull the lever. Good luck.

If you replace the cable you will have to remove the gas tank so you remove the old and route the new.

Hello, there is a problem on my 2008 Honda trx250tm ES fourtrax. the indicator on the display shows a different position compared to the position on the gearbox. for example on the screen it says that the gearbox is in first gear, but the gearbox is actually in neutral and the green light for neutral does not light up. when I press the small handle and the button down to put it in reverse, the green light for neutral comes on and the gearbox is in reverse gear. I note that I can't get the letter R on the screen at all. I changed the angle sensor but everything is the same. Does anyone have a solution?

Do you know what that wire is called? I found something called subwire, but the service manual doesn't provide a part number for it.

@@nicksnextproject535 Its just weird, the Honda oem parts calls the subwire to be used for the themo sensor, yet its also used for the neutral switch wire. Took me a 3 hour phone call with partzilla and we landed on that lol.

@@nicksnextproject535 What year rancher is this? I just bought a subwire to throw on that sensor and it didn't fit for some reason. I have a 2001 honda rancher, and the part I bought was 32850-HN5-670 as it was actually for my ATV model. I assume the connector on that one is smaller?

YOU SAID TO CHANGE THAT PLUG/WIRE YIU HAVE TO DRIN ALL THE OIL YOU SPEAKING OF MOTOR OIL OR TRAN. OIL IF SO THAT IS SAME OIL AS ENGINE OR DIFFERENT COMPARTMENT FOR TRAN.

You'll find they are connected, my friend. The manual recommends GN4 fluid. Id suggest locating a service manual. I believe there are also videos here of people removing that plug.

I had the same question. I watched another video that seemed to show the location: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eNxhldpp3tzRgZs.html Looks like you need to jack up the rear of the ATV and it is located on the underside near the rear tires.
