I just got an 03 Sabre, same paint scheme as this one, owned by a older lady who said it was way too much bike for her, mine has the vance and hines 2 in 1 exhaust, dynojet needles and jets and K&N filter under the seat, whoever had it before me had the tune just off, I got it all right and this bike rips, it makes such great power with all those aftermarket parts, it can show you 75MPH in 3rd gear with no prob, cant beat a honda, they seem to always get it right

I used to have this bike a 2002 Shadow Sabre (bought it new in 2002), with the red flame paint. For the size of the engine it was not all that powerful. But then it only had like an 8:1 compression ratio. I had it for 3 years before family obligations had me sell it. Cheers!

So I’m in a situation. I have never ridden before. I’ve been looking into it and decided a rebel 500 was where I wanted to start. However. One of my coworkers is giving away an old 1100 Honda Sabre (moving, no longer has space). He knows what’s wrong with bike but doesn’t want to dump money into it because he has a newer nicer bike. It’s nearly double the power I thought I wanted but it seems like a great opportunity to get a great bike at a bargain. Opinions welcome, no clue what I’m doing.

I just picked up an '02 Sabre with 1,500 miles. Kind of the same story, but mine needs a carb rebuild from sitting. Should be out of the shop in a couple more days, but it was running great at anything under 2/3 throttle, and cruised well at 75mph. Bought it to upgrade from my Shadow Spirit 750.

I've put over 7k miles on this bike since April if that's any indication of how much I love riding it. Just put new tires on it last week which made to handing just that much better. I just got home from a 120 ride thru to Ozarks and the bike had no problem pulling my heavy butt up the hills. I much as I love this bike I'll look for something with a little more power in the future, just my personal preference.

Nice bike. I have a 04 vt1100 Shadow. Came with Vance & Hines short shots. Mustang seat, sissy bar and rack. Stage 2 kit and the nice quick disconnect windshield. Forward controls. Paid 4k and I love this bike. Was looking for a water cooled shaft drive low maintenance and this was it. Came from an 87 Honda CX500. I love the fact this bike at 65 is hardly working rev wise and there’s enough weight you don’t get pushed around on the road. Crank it and there’s plenty of power. Only thing I wish was different would be a bigger tank as I know at 150 I’m switching to reserve. Ran it out once accidentally so I know.

VERY CAREFUL heat gun removal of the product liability BS stickers on the fuel tank. I suggest removal of those for a MUCH better aesthetic. I doubt it will damage the classic value of the bike as long as kept maintained, clean, running, and safe. My 2004 1100 Spirit was also kept inside a conditioned space. I purchased it in 2011 for 3500 bucks (US) with 5,600 miles on the odo. Now, in 2024, it needs fork seals and that is all. On my 3rd front and 2nd rear tire since purchase. Now with 18,000 miles. We did a refresh on the carbs a year ago too. It still looks and runs perfectly. I know some folks with Harleys who keep a Shadow around for local riding.

Nice review. One thing... why not spell the name of the model correctly on the KZfaq thumbnail? The model is the Sabre, not Saber. Yes....I know that Saber is the proper way to spell it, but Honda calls it a Sabre. I guess I'm being picky, but I almost didn't click because I'm thinking that if the reviewer can't get the name right, how accurate will the rest of the video be. That being said, I have an 04 Sabre that I bought new and it still runs perfectly. I've done nothing but oil changes, tire changes, and I've had to buy two batteries over the years. I now have 44,000 miles on it now. Considering how old it is, that's low mileage. I've always had two bikes on the road at the same time, so mileage has always been split up by 2 bikes. I paid $8500 USD in 2004 for my Sabre and I've never regretted it for a second. I did replace the original seat with a Mustang seat after 2 or 3 seasons. It's MUCH more comfortable for long rides. Anyone considering buying a Sabre is wicked smart! Do it!

Would you know where I can find a speedometer for the same yr I think. Mine is a 2005. About all I sorta need for it. I’m constantly impressed with how this bike goes down the road. I live in the southern part of the Rocky Mountains with amazing hair pin turns and everything else that you’d ever want to ride and this bike PERFORMS! I just came off of a 94’ custom Harley Davidson FXR that was raked out pretty well, and to be fully honest, this newer 1100 out performs it on every level minus a bit of torque, which we all know Harleys are always more torqy than most but it’s def not missed. The 1100 is completely underrated lol and that’s fine cause it keeps them cheap😂 I got mine for 1600 bucks with less than 7 thousand miles on it.. it needed new bags, sissy bar, and tires and the speedo I mentioned but I’ve gotten lucky and acquired everything for around 300 bucks. Let me know if you know about a speedometer haha. Great video! Thanks for the content🎉

Really? I am able to pull 45MPG out of mine at 70MPH and make it 120-140 miles before I hit the reserve tank. Costs me like $15 to make a trip that would cost me $40 in my diesel pickup. If I take it easy down back roads at 50MPH and refrain from winding it out I can easily grab 52MPG out of it which is pretty good for an 1100cc bike.
@poorasslawstudent
@poorasslawstudent 6 ай бұрын
and you have the sabre edition shadow?@@Ciulster I for one know that it was geared too low for long highway use. You can hear it. The RPM at 70 to 75 are just too high.
@Ciulster
@Ciulster 6 ай бұрын
@@poorasslawstudentYes my bike is the Sabre edition, and while it is definitely geared lower than the Aero or Spirit bikes and you can hear it working at that speed I still find it takes it like a champ. Without baffles in the pipes it's definitely too loud since it's not just chugging along like a higher geared cruiser would, baffle-less straight pipes on highway are a no for me. I also run the colder heat range spark plugs as per Honda's recommendation for high speed riding as most of my riding is 40+minutes of 50+ MPH riding. Admittedly I sometimes ride at 90MPH for good chunks and the bike loves it. My only constraint for long distance riding is comfort, as I am tall and find the bike a bit cramped to ride for longer than an hour or so. For a big V twin it certainly likes to rev out and go through corners a little too much. 😅 If you are worried about the bike working too hard you must be coming from a different brand mindset. I've owned over 5 Honda motorcycles and they are the hardest working motorcycles out there, and some of them should not be alive anymore... But they crank over and run like new still. Guys who actually worry about working the bike too hard will probably have the bike outlive them lol.
