Good candid summary ! I have owned a 2007 ABS ST 1300 - it was my first really fast, really smooth, super comfortable touring bike ! I sold it because I had other bikes to ride and, well I had sellers remorse...so I bought another Honda ST, this time a really clean low miles 1100....this time a 2002 model, beautiful burgundy color...I actually like the lines and style more than the ST 1300, its a little lighter and just as fun, not as fast, but fast enough...with back rest, wife is very comfy too ! The V4 engine really is something special...at low RPM it produces all the necessary power, I am going to 64 yrs old soon, and I find that its really an incredible bike and if I were younger, I would still love it ! I really enjoy riding a friends Yamaha FJR 1300 which is another story because its very fast and get the RPMs above 6000, and it takes off like a rocket ! However, the comfort and reliability for long trips, where I am not exhausted at the end is what makes the Honda the best for me....keep up your good work ! I enjoy the accent and the talk about your mates (everybody needs mates !)

I was riding my ST1100 today and was thinking, "What the hell is it about this bike that I enjoy so much?! Why does it seem to fill every one of my desires for a riding machine?". I've owned a TON of motorcycles in my days. I've had the Concours, the BMW R1150rt, the Harley Road King, and a BMW K1100rs. Each one of those had their sweet points... things that made you say, "Ohhhh yeah!". And the ST doesn't really outshine any of those other bikes in the best of what they do. But it's such a well rounded bike, it's scoring out does the others simply by getting a better average score at doing everything combined. For me personally, it's a lot about the ergonomics. I love the instrument cluster visuals. The status lights all at the top in a row, for example. No eye scanning for the particular indicator you need. One quick lowering of the eye and you see that turn signal you forgot to click off. The fuel and temp gauges can be assessed with one glance, not a glance from one side to the other. The clean crisp speedo and tach are so easy to read. I do wish they had cut the needles just shy of the numbers instead of overlapping them over the numbers. I also wish they had made a voltmeter standard like on the police models, as it's a really important thing to see, but I have fitted my own. I can ride this all day long due to the great riding comfort. I also like how they tucked the saddlebags in so tight, yet kept a really nice volume in them. It makes it a lot easier when swinging you leg over the bike. And, yes... it handles extremely well, much like a bike 200 pounds lighter. I think it's because of the low-sitting fuel tank. I'm absolutely in love with my 2001. I got it two months ago and paid $2400US. I did have to put $400 in tires on it. It only has 32K miles on the clock.

After watching your video and a 20 year break from bikes, I bought a 1996 st1100 for €1250. She's brilliant, changed all filters and pads and she rocks. Great to be back in the saddle. Cheers!

Fantastic video. Hated these bikes when I was in my 30’s & 40’s. Having maxed mileage on my 749 I picked one up for long trips as I reached 49! . They are unbelievable! Fantastic bike. The V4 engine is sublime. Thanks for posting video.

Had my ST1100 for years and i have put 340000 Km on it, never had any problems. Now i have the ST1300 for 3 years and i got to tell you, its even better! Where the ST1100 in some short, slow corners (like in the mountains in Germany) felt a bit heavy, the ST1300 feels like a dream. Just tell her where to go and the Pan will do the rest, i love it.

Deeply impressed with my st1100. Mirror your comments 100%👍. Riding two up mostly and it’s effortless. In the mountain hairpins it’s easy squeegee. So well balanced and easy to hustle along. Comfort is good for about 2 hours though I use an air rider seat to extend the travel time. 61 years old and 180cms tall it fits me like a glove. Heavy when stationary but as soon as it’s moving it’s a big soft fluffy thing that makes long journeys a pleasure the v4 does have a hard edge to it when you want to get a shifty on. Another rider in our little group has the st1300 and agrees the 1100 is more stable. Otherwise we mirror each other with open ,mutual and monotonous appreciation of our pans. Other bits to mention I have noticed tyres are sensitive and go off at about 50% of wear, putting bike on side stand before using the handle for centre stand somehow makes it easier, the catches on the small Honda top box are fiddle, fiddle, wiggle wiggle to get the key in . Really trivial stuff compared to the overall capability of the thing. Honda got it right and for me it’s a better handling bike than the bmw k100/k1100’s I have owned. It’s miles of smiles for me. Like you I have owned all sorts of bikes and quite possibly the pan is the best all round bike for me. It’s just about my all time favourite of all time 🤓. Oh and ‘Father Christmas’ 😄. Like the video. As I mentioned in another comment, I've owned a ST1100 for more than 20 years when I fell in love with my current VFR1200F. The Pan is an amazing bike. Driven also the ST1300, found the ST1300 a bit easier to handle on low(er) speeds but the stability on high(er) speeds was definitely won by the ST1100. It runs like it is on rails, so much confidence and a very efficient fuel consumption as well. I'm not surprised that like you the ST1100 that much :). Enjoy it for many, many more years :)

A few years back i owned 2 pan ST 1100,s,one was 1996 and the other 1999 I loved them both,They took me to every corner of Ireland,a week in Scotland another week in Wales and 2 weeks touring France and Monte Carlo.A few years back I changed to a V-strom 650 because the Pan was getting too heavy for my ole joints (i,m coming 67).The chap who bought my Pan still has it and loves it as much as I did

I’ve done exactly the same after buying a shagged, old, high mileage CBF1000. I’ve mended it and now I love it, so easy to ride, smooth, comfortable and plenty fast enough. My other bikes aren’t even getting a look in at the minute

One reason it's easier to toss around is the lower center of gravity thanks to the under the seat gas tank which held over 7 gallons. Back in 2002 I owned both an ST11 (your Pan European) as well as a Ducati Monster 900. I also favored the ST over the Ducati and wound up selling the "sportier" 900. Rode the Tail of the Dragon several times on the ST and made better times through those 318 curves and elevation changes than buddies on sport bikes. Eventually traded it for a Yamaha FJR but I still remember so many trips on that great ST/Pan. And the sweet sounds of that V-4 in your video brought back some good memories. Funny how the sound carries through. I got the same flashback watching a video of my first bike, Honda 305 Scrambler, I bought used in 1970. Ride on!

I’ve got a st 1100, I’m 73 years of age and I’ve had loads of bikes over the years, and like you, I nearly bought another bike down at the Nec, but so pleased I’ve come to my senses, I’m keeping the pan !

In more than 55 years of riding an't 60+ bikes owned my ST1100 still remains my favorite touring ride.

I’ve owned motorcycles since I was 16. I’m turning 65 this summer. I had a lot of different bikes, mostly Hondas should I admit. Among others, I’ve had a 1983 Silverwing and a 1984 Goldwing that I owned for over 30 years. But came a time where I had too much money to put on to keep it reliable and time had done its work. I always had the ST1100 In my mind, thinking I’ll never will have one. But 3 years ago, I ended-up putting my hands on a 2000 ST1100 having only 18000 real KM on it. I have to admit this is for sure the best motorcycle I’ve ever had. Yes It’s a bit an heavy beast and a tall one. I’m not very tall at 5’-7’’ so I have to stand on my toes at stop, but I’m used to. It gives me a smooth ride, enough power for what I need. The V4 motor is really something. It surprises with remarkable agility in traffic and low speed maneuvers nevertheless. I feel very confident on it and the bike is largely predictable. Here where I live, in eastern Canada, the motorcycle season is quite short due to the hard winters we have. So we enjoy each minutes not to say each seconds we can ride. The season will begin soon. The bike is ready , and so am I.

I bought an immaculate 2002 ST 1300 a few weeks ago, with incredibly low mileage, i traded my Goldwing 1500 for it. The ST is a serious mile eater, a very capable machine, i love it.

My best friend back in the days bought a new ST1100 in 1994, same color as yours, when he was just 21 years old. He only had a bike licence in that time and he used it every day as others use a car. We have been on a road trip from Germany to Portugal in 1995, he on his Pan and me on my fully customized '84 CB750C. We swapped the bikes a few times for the fun of it, but man, what a difference! I was used to get nearly blown off my bike at about 200 km/h cruising speed with my Ape Hanger steering and my forward footrests and I loved it. On the Pan on the other hand, I could and did roll and smoke cigarettes while driving 200 km/h. It was a bit boring for me back then, felt more like a car to me, but I have to agree that it's actually a great bike. He drove it for 3 years only and had about 150.000 km on it and never had a single problem with it. Than he changed it for a new Susuki racer, he wanted more power and speed for the german motor ways, so instead of 250 km/h max with the Pan he drove then 300-320 km/h every day... ;-) I stayed with my self created never really finished CB till 2013 when I sadly needed to sell it. At the end I even changed the clutch on foot use and a hand shifter on the side, single seat, drop tank from my old crashed CB450, ... Actually apart from the engine, wheels and frame, nothing was original anymore. Things you wouldn't think about to do with a Pan... ;-) Haven't been in a saddle since, no bike nor horse. About time to change both of that again! But I still prefer open naked classic bikes, or if I would go for a ship, I would love to have a good ol' GL1100 again... I see this video is about 1 year old. Hope for you, you still have your Pan and have still fun with it. If you don't crash it, it's about impossible to break them! And you're right, you're not too old for a bike. There's nothing like that! I'm turning 52 soon. Cheers from London...

Hey Jonny. Entertaining vlogs. Like most of the things in my life I bought my ST1100 because it was for sale! Ex-police bike. It's white. Confuses some motorists. Purchased on a Monday (Sep. 2014), left for Darwin the next Friday (from Adelaide). First bike I'd owned in 18 years and it got me there and back with no complaints (6,000km return). Another 3 trips to Darwin and back since then and all have been trouble free. 1,290km in 12 hours on one trip. 130km/h speed limit but I found 140km/h made it possible. Always followed the town speed limits otherwise. 72,000km when purchased, 116,000km now (June 2022). I've had replaced the cush drive and the secondary clutch cylinder. Never left me by the side of the road. Only my second bike (previously a BMW R65 for many years) but I'm hoping this will last me until I cannot ride anymore.

I have an almost similar biking history to you. I’m 52, own a SORN Blackbird because I have more fun on, and find my Africa Twin easier to ride. But it’s not about age because in 2003 I had a CBR600Sport and a DRZ400 with a similar situation. That DRZ had me giggling like a school girl in twisty back lanes, and my mates on their 600 sports bikes could not keep up with me and even with seriousness accused me of riding like a tw*t. The problem came when we were on fast A roads as the 39hp was no match for a sportsbike. One day me and my mate swapped and I rode his R6. We were on the tighter twisties, he left me for dead on my DRZ. Bearing in mind I was a current 600 sportsbike owner. When we finally met up again he said, I now know why you ride like you do. None of my mates had ever ridden a bike like the DRZ and didn’t understand it’s all about the riding position, the less and more usable power with the low down grunt a single will give. (similar to a Pan) It was a similar situation in 2016 when I would ride with my mate on his relaunched Africa Twin and me on my Blackbird. But this was on faster roads. Admittedly he is a faster rider than me, but if there were no straights then he was gone. Roll onto 2018 when I got my Africa Twin I could then keep up and was having more fun. Don’t get me wrong I will never get rid of my BB but I don’t have much enthusiasm to get it back on the road because the AT is just so good and practical. My opinion of upright bikes is that you have so much more leverage on the bars and that your input much more at bar level. On a sportsbike you are steering with your arms at an angle of 45 degrees from above, which doesn’t inspire confidence if you’ve not got decent track experience. Who rides full tuck on public roads all of the time even if you are not speeding. Sportsbikeshop were great fun in their day but with speeding technology now it’s just not worth it.

Low COG and Torque range is probably why you find it pleasing. The fact it's NOT a Race Bike is why you love it. Race bikes need to be raced. This just needs to be enjoyed :D I don't have one, but always wanted one. There's a 2001 for sale in my area with only 53k on it and he's only asking £1800. It probably won't stick around long.

I had a chance to extensively ride a 1992 ST1100 as a friend was laid up due to illness for a long time...and the bike came to me for care/ riding, cleaning, and maintenance. All you say here is true. So many strongpoints...smooth, powerful, sporty enough, and very well engineered and built. I've had 22 motorcycles and this is the best of the lot, including Yamahas, Suzukis, Kawasakis, and BMWs. It's powerful enough, handles well enough, does everything well enough. Smooth cream of an engine. The low center of gravity due to engine design and location of gas tank low in the bike makes handling very easy, and yes, the Honda is much easier to handle than Suzuki ZX. Not so easy to push around the garage- just be sure to keep them absolutely upright, but once moving, all is well. People know these bikes and often honk or wave to acknowledge the vintage machine. Score...10/10. Keep the tires to correct inflation, or you may get cupping. I came away thinking Honda is the way to go in older bikes, and maybe all bikes...definitely.

I’ve bought an st1100 a few months ago. As a first bike. Plan be, I wanted a bike for two. Me and my wife to cruise and tour around. After some technical difficulties that got repaired. I’m absolutely enjoying this bike. It’s not a little lesson sports bike. But when I come the learn to trust the bike more and more I’ve been going farther and farther. It’s not a scary bike to start on. But be advised this is not a lightweight bike as you mentioned. But I sure have fun with it.

Well Jonny, at last a review that doesn't go on and on about boring Hondas! I loved my ST1100 but convinced myself that I was getting too old for all that weight (dead weight that is - on the go almost weightless such is the balance). Swapped it for a Deauville....same old crap from so called bikers, shopping trolley etc. Had tours all over Europe solo, no probs. Then joined two organised tours - big mistake full of know-alls and zombies, yes the GS brigade and all the must have latest bike/gear lads and lasses, (yes I was there too when I had more money than sense). Had a bad incident in the Alps and lost all confidence ...after a year missed biking so much I bought a Silverwing - again it thumbed its nose at the anti Honda lemmings, and the anti Scooter mob - if its got 2 wheels and a motor its a motorbike!. Confidence returned and wanted a middleweight - loving my Kawa Vulcan S 650. Just returned from Galicia, Cantabria and Portugal on a solo tour - brill. Lessons learned, stay solo if you are ok with your own company and by all means buy a lighter bike as you age BUT never sell your ST1100, you'll regret it. I'm in my mid 70s but still hanker for the Pan. Have fun.

I'm 53 and have had a 5 year break from biking - had a blackbird last time and vfrs before that. Don't desire any of the latest new bikes. Inspired by your st1100 and great review. Fun can be had for little money.

Got my son a ST1100 as back up as he was having issues with his modern bike and taking time to get parts. Cost £870. Needed the supplied neutral switch fitting. Got it home and found it needed a new battery. He's been riding it since spring 22. Been around Wales on it. Toured the Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland area. Needed steering head bearings for the MOT. And that's it. I had a go on it yesterday and also used the word swooshy. It's ridiculously heavy, hard to get in and out of our garage due to a short steep ramp and tight turn, but it's frankly great. He's taken it down some totally unsuitable tiny broken up roads and it's coped fine.

Bought one last year, (2000 with 30,000 miles)and I fell back in love with motorcycles, after 49 years of street bikes. If I had to decide that one of my bikes had to go, it would be heart-breaking, but my Harley would go. (not in my plans in forseeable future, love them both)

Own a 97' with 107K miles..love it. Most comfortable bike I've ever had. Don't get me wrong, I loved my Triumph triples, I've had Great Yamaha's and Kawasaki's, but the ST just fits all my needs. I'm 55 so, yeah, a little old..

I have had both the st1100 and st1300 and loved them both. The 1100 was absolutely brilliant. Beautiful handling with plenty of power. I don’t know what made me do it but traded it in for the 1300 which I did my IAM and ROSPA advanced training on. The 1300 is a lovely, reliable bike. Heavy to push around but once on the move, the weight disappears and it becomes very agile with lots of low down torque. A real mile muncher with a turn of acceleration and speed which surprises a lot of people. Sadly advancing arthritis in my hands brought my riding days to an end. Broke my heart to part with my Pan. In summary I would highly recommend either or both the Pan Europeans. Get one, you won’t go wrong.

Totally agree with you in every point, I used to ride a triumph daytona 955, the wife hated being on the back, can't blame her, who designed the seating position on sports bikes has obviously never sat on one, I was hesitant to buy the pan at first, as I thought it had fell from the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, but the more I looked at them, the more attractive they seemed, so I bought one, and just like you, I've fallen in love with it, what a great all round bike,........ Good honest review of the Honda ST1100. I've owened a couple of ST1100 and a ST1300. 100% the 1100 is a better bike. High speed stability, weight, smoother.

It handles, plenty of grunt, superb weather protection, just put cruise control on it, thinking about some bar risers too!! The cbr just sits in the garage and comes out on a sunny day for about 5 miles 😂😂😂😂😂 you’re are in good company my friend✌️

Hi Johnny, this is Jan here from Holland. When I saw your video I immediately understood what you experienced with your Pan. I've been driving a Pan now for 7 years (my second now). I do not have a lot of experience on other bikes though, but I'm sure a newer bike will have trouble to match the Pan. It's cheap, excellent performance (abs, tcs, cbs) and even looks good. It was wat ahead of it's time back then. So have fun!

I had a ST1300 for a few years and it is an amazing bike. The one thing I didn't like about it was how top heavy it was. It was great when it was underway, but moving it around the garage, etc. was really tough. I've never ridden an ST1100, but if you love it, just ride it. Ride safe!

Haha, this makes my smile. I bought the same bike(yr 2000, 71.000km) 3 weeks ago and I am super happy with it! When I did my testdrive, I fell in love instantly 🙂. Driving it makes me feel like having a great secret, because the bike doesn't directly make a "cool or sexy" impression, but secretly she is a sexy beast in cognito, and maybe they don't know it, but I do know! :-)

I've been riding for more then 40 years. VFR750F, CBR1000F, Varadero even a BMW but the day I bought the ST1100... I came home. What a bike! Will I buy another one? Oh yes, an other ST1100 to have as a spare 🙂 If I have to say something negative about this bike then it is the amount of time it takes to do the maintenance or change a lightbulb. It takes for ever to remove the plastic to get to something. Keep on riding!

I spent 170k miles on my 1999. Crisscrossing countries. Couldn’t fault it. The most user-serviceable touring bagger, while not needing almost any service. What a beast.

Love this bike to death. It "fits" me like a glove. The 1300 is also wonderful but just different. Ride both and let us know ..

You are not old. You are wise. You have tried lots of bikes and you know what's good. I am looking for one here in Boston. A good friend owns the pan 1100 and a pan 1300. Had my ST1100 for ooh, lets see... nearly 15 years now I think. Absolutely love it to bits. Its getting cosmetically a bit shabby now, but nothing a bit of tlc and a respray wont cure (well after 24yrs and 493,000+ miles thats hardly surprising!) but mechanically sweet as a nut. Gets me where I wanna be when I wanna be there, including a haul ass ride from home (west lancs) to Ukraine n back last year. Ive had loads of bikes, mostly big ones but this is the only one I fell in love with.

Sadly for your zzr you have now discovered a touring bike. You thought the st1100 was going to be boring but the fact is, its blown you away. People don't understand that that adv and touring bikes are very capable. They are also very forgiving and inspire confidence. I rode a 70k miles st1100 and it rode like brand new. I was expecting it to be dog shit but it blew me away. The gearbox was slick to. The maroon one like yours is the best colour in my opinion. Cool vid by the way.

I rode mine from Dunedin to Picton two up fully loaded in a day....got off and went to the pub for dinner. One of the keys to it's handling is that the fuel is under the seat, it handles better with a full tank of fuel not worse....

I own a 1998 ST1100 that bought 5 years ago with only 10,000 miles on it. It now shows about 13,000 miles on the odo. I put new tires on it and changes the oil & filter and that’s all it needed. I took the advice of someone here and painted the exhaust pipes with POR15 rust proofing and extended the inner fender to protect the swing arm from getting sand blasted by road debris.

Hi I own a pan st 1100 now for a year I also have a outstanding bandit 1250 ov had for 6 years riding bandit to coast and back kills me with multiple stops started using pan for day trips out and not one bit of aching body whatsoever I love the bike just servicing it for better weather now and bandit can stay in workshop or might sell it best bike I’ve ever owned pan is she’s so beautiful and effortless to ride love it

Nice. Like you I love my old, not too expensive Pan. I also tend to use it more than my other bikes. Honda did a splendid job with the ST1100. I'm less certain of the ST1300. Bear in mind the easy with which you can ride a ST1100 has to do with the low center of gravity. Part of this can be attributed to the fuel tank design. The ST1300 lost this to a certain extent. I have never ridden a ST1300, it would be nice to get comments from folk who have actually ridden both the ST1100 and the ST1300.

Ive just bought one. im 61 and im taking the misses on the back more n more since she was ill and finds it hard to ride her own bike far. it just seems like the perfect bike for it. where we are both comfortable on long rides. My other bike is a mental streetfighter Blackbird.

Had ST11 for half a year (got it after riding a Honda Shadow). I was looking for something more comfortable, better weather protection, higher cruising speed etc. And ST11 delivered all of it - but something was missing. And then I got ST13. OMG i understood that IT IS the bike i was looking for. Maybe it is the condition of my specific bikes (ST13 with 100k km odo in mint condition), but the ST13 is the best you can get for the price, imho. And I wouldn't agree that seating etc. is more sportier on ST13 - didn't feel a big difference between two. P.S. join ST Owners forum, that is the community you won't meet for another brand. It is insane! (..in the best way).

The ST surprised me too. Its so bloody easy to ride long distances at a good clip. The only thing I dont like, is I find the clutch release point too far out. It looks great too. The 1300 doesnt look as nice to my eyes. I'll stick with the 1100.

Had both, the Pan won for me too. It's hard to say exactly why but I just got more pleasure from riding the Pan, it's so well balanced that it almost disappears underneath you. The riding position is natural with no pressure points. The ZZR growls and needs riding, fantastic bike though.

Love this! We would be instant friends! Sport bikes are beautiful but as you get older you just want to ride in comfort.

I had an ST1100 beautiful bike deeply regretted selling it but I replaced it with an ST1300. Both are great bikes the ST1300 had lower miles but the ST1100 will always have a spot in my heart.

Heard the same about the 1300, thus I was going to stick with my 1997 1100. the best bike I've ever owned, works well for my riding style. At 65+ it's getting a bit heavy at times but it's like a bicycle on the road. 👍💪✌

I've owned both the 1100 and 1300, I still have the 1100. I found the 13 to be, as someone has said top heavy, uncomfortable on long trips with numb right hand and sore arse even with an air hawk seat. Consequently I don't own it any longer. The 1100 has just had it's second timing belt and at about 210000 mom's ( I'm in Australia) and that is the only work apart from servicing that she has needed. And like you say they handle due to low centre of gravity. It's just fucking great

Just about to receive my Pan tomorrow, Tried a Triumph speed triple T509 after a few years without a bike but tbf I just found it an uncomfortable ride,all be it a powerful machine (And I've had many over the years) I guess Im at the age now where I just prefer comfort and after remembering my old pan from many years ago and finding this 2002 with just 29k on the clock it was a no-brainer! Happy days😁👍

Sold my 99 vfr800 last year because i didnt use it much then found a Pan close to me so i decided to take a look,i had always known about how good riders had said they were but had never ridden one.A year later and i absolutely love the Pan,ive already done more miles this year than i did in a year on the vfr,every thing you say about your Pan is exactly what I have experienced with mine,just at the point i think i will head home i think of another way to go just spend more time on it.Only downside is even though it is good condition it doesn't look has good in garage has the black 99 vfr did.

I bought my ST1100 for 2400, 93000 miles on the clock. Wasn't even concerned. Fantastic bike, Ive rode the Tail of the Dragon about 11 times, ridden hundreds of miles a day, and add only oil and gas to it. Fantastic bike. My 5th bike, 4th Honda. Between my BMW r1100rt and the Honda......Im selling the BMW.

Tested one yesterday. ‘98 model with only 70,000km on the clock. Fabulous ride. One owner from new. Full service history plus bills and docs! Will try it out over the Winter and decide whether it’s a keeper or whether I sell my 2018 ATAS…..

I hope you are still enjoying your ST1100, I have had 2 in the same colour "Wineberry" the first one, I P/X for a Harley, it wasn't for me within a short space of time I bought another Pan ST 1100, I had also bought a new CBF600 SA-8 in 2009 and the plan was maybe to step down to the CBF as I was getting older, however just like your comment the Pan suited me better and 5 years later I sold the CBF with only 1300 miles on the clock from new, sadly my lovely Pan has gone now. I dream about returning to biking all the time. Enjoy and ride Safe.

I have owned my 1992 ST1100 ABS/TCS since 2005 and most likely never sell it. I'm 72 so riding time doesn't include many long trips, but I love l every minute of riding it. It's been bullet proof with fork rebuilds timing belt and valve cover gaskets and not much else. The guy I bought it from bought the 1300, loved the power but missed the stability of the 1100.

That's the bike Im thinking of...to buy as a second yoke for long journeys...have cb1300sa and I love it but it is to small for 2 persons....Greetings from Poland and see ya on the road..... if I get st1100 I'm gonna do Poland-Ireland trip where I lived for over 12 yrs...

Mate I’m a young lad with a gang of super bike mates who were all laffin when I got the pan! They still laff for 20 mins after that they beggin to swap pan is a different league

I've had my '02 since new. I sometimes think about getting a new bike, but then I realize nothing out there can can match the calm handling, power, and comfort of my ST1100. I need to take it down a half mile of soft rutted forest road to get to my camper, but it can even handle that after I figured it out.

Hi I’m 50 to I’ve had my st1100 5 years now. It’s 1991 H reg with 164k still goes well. You like you pan as it balancesed planted. After watching you video you ride well but do your IAM course you will get even more out of the pan. Ride it to the limit you will go out after your course and piss all over your mates and yes that’s on a winter hack pan. Got to love them. Ride safe my friend and enjoy. I bought a shitty old St1100 1993 model to just do up and flog off. The last owner died of old age (like most Pan owners) I own nice bike in my collection. The Pan looks like crap, sounds like crap and is boring as hell!!! I fixed it up and got it going. Then I took the piece of shit for a test ride. What the hell was I thinking😮😮😮 OMG I could believe it. It was impressive. The handling was unbelievable, comfort staggering, engine a gem. Done tens of thousands kilometres of very happy touring. I still have it 2 years later and will ( like most Pan owners ) die of old age before it gets sold. P.S I still think it looks like shit.

Hallo und grüße dich, ich fahre Motorrad, Mofa, seitdem ich 14 Jahre alt bin. Ich habe ein kleines Museum an Motorrädern, Supersportler, Sport Tourer , und Enduro Maschinen. Eine ZZR 1400 ist unter anderem auch dabei. Aufgrund eines Todesfalls in meinem Bekanntenkreis, stand da ein Motorrad herum und wurde nicht mehr benötigt und keiner wollte es haben aus der Familie. Dann wurde ich angesprochen, ich habe es mir angesehen, und eigentlich wollte ich es nicht haben, es war Gold, die Lackierung, hab sie dann eingepackt. Habe alles gemacht, was zu machen ist dann habe ich erfahren, dass das Motorrad einen Zahnriemen hat, der ist dann auch noch erneuert worden, und dann stand sie da komplett wie neu aus dem Laden, weil sie war vorher schon Mega gepflegt, halt nur total angestaubt. Dann bin ich sie gefahren, und ich kann alles das was du beschreibst, nur bestätigen, und ich hätte niemals gedacht, dass eine ST 1100, mir so viel Freude bringen könnte. Wobei Honda noch mal überhaupt nicht meine Marke ist. Eigentlich nur Bayerische Motoren Werke und Kawasaki. Aber dieses Ding Pack dich irgendwo bei der Seele, und es fühlt sich richtig gut an. Ich denke die ST 1100, und da sind sich ja auch sehr viele Fachleute einig inklusive der Welt Presse, dass dieses Motorrad hont das größtes Problem ist, weil sie einfach zu perfekt ist, und aufgrund dessen nicht mehr erreicht werden kann mit anderen Modellen oder übertroffen werden könnte. Sie wird sehr oft als absoluter Meilenstein, im Motorradbau für Touren Maschinen dargestellt. Mit der ST 1300, hat man es versucht, aber in Wirklichkeit kommt sie nicht an die ST 1100 heran. Die ST 1100, ist das absolute non plus Ultra bis heute in diesem Bereich. Und es gibt ja einen Grund, warum so viele Menschen die viele weite Touren fahren, dieses Motorrad zu lieben. Naja im Nachhinein habe ich dann rausgefunden, dass die goldene Lackierung, auch noch ein 50 Anniversary Modell war. Jetzt steht sie mit in meiner Halle alles neu absolut fahr fertig, und einem fast Neuzustand. Ich werde noch sehr viel Freude damit haben, und ich wünsche dir, dass du das auch mit deiner ST 1100 haben wirst, und Kauf dir ruhig eine zweite aber bleib bei der ST 1100, besser geht es nicht mehr. I have an ST1100 that I bought new in 1993 it is amazing , yes it is heavy but the weight melts away once I start moving . Also check out Allin Millyard he just bought another so he has two ,one red and one green 💚

Thank you for sharing !! I do not have a pan but i am becoming more curious about trying out such a type of a motorcycle. I had a similar experience with my current motorcycle which is a 20 yr old aprilia rsv mille (gen1.5) it handles like a 2 stroke in terms of steering, which gave me instant confidence when riding it even after not driving it for along time, i would definetly recomend it if you enjoy Italian styling. Based on what you shared i decided to put the pan on my list for trying / evaluation. - 07:11 i heard you talk about the 1100 and 1300, i remember a talk with a driving instructor who also sweared by the 1100, which according to him was because the rear setup of the 1300 is inferior to that of the 1100.

I've had 3 of these. And now I'm about to buy my 4th.

Loved the Pan ST1100 had to give up on them due to lack of parts - ABS units etc, st1100 is a great bike just the no parts.

Really loved my ST1100 until the rear end went out on it. 125K on it and rode it all over the USA and Canada. Still wish I had it although the BMW RT works very well at what it does. Very well 😊

Interesting about your confidence issues I have had similar experiences with my old bike (now sold) and replacement NT1100 I’m so much happier now confidence issues are gone enjoying my new bike, but for the life of me I can’t get my head round why I struggled with the Africa twin ? In the end I put the Africa twin in the garage and didn’t want to ride it so it had to go!

How can it be that a bike designed and manufactured 32 years ago still beats out near everything for general travel on roads? Is it the calming low RPMS? Is it the low center of gravity making it glue to the road with ease? Is it the build quality? Is it the look? Did Honda make a bike right? I present these questions fer yer ponderin!

All because it is The Pan! I promissed to age with my Pan:-), when I will not be able to throw my leg over, I'll put it in a glass box and will greet it every morning:-)))

Hello Johnny. I have them booth. The 1100 and 1300. They are great bikes. At slower speeds, the 1300 has a bit more balance. But only just.

I had the same thing with a bandit 1250. Absolute beast, but I just didn’t click with it and randomly swapped it for a Suzuki boulevard 800 cruiser. I get along just fine with the boulevard. Less power by far but just feels right.
