the part about college students creating billion-dollar inventions and being rewarded with dinner is something i used to think was an over-exaggerated joke i'm now a student at a tech college and i can vouch that that line was 100% true. NOTHING is better than free food.

Hiro is a Japanese name and they flip their r's so it's like a mix of Hiro, Hido, and Hilo. Honey Lemon is the only one who actually pronounces it correctly.

He clearly pronounced it Hiro (Hero), so everyone saying it another way bugged me immensely. (I have an odd name that gets mispronounced CONSTANTLY. A person knows how to pronounce their own name. Say it the way they do!)

Well, the line is supposed to be between the movies of the early 2000's when Disney declined (after Tarzan), and when Disney movies became successful again and returned to form (Princess and the Frog was both a new princess movie, and a 2-D movie, which is why people use it as the ushering of the new Disney Renaissance). I personally don't like Little Mermaid, and Rescuers Down Under (while really good) feels out of place in the original Disney Renaissance, but Little Mermaid counts as the beginning because it revitalized Disney and started the new trend of their movies.

Technically, Honey Lemon is the only one that actually pronounces Hiro's name correctly. Everyone else is using the English pronunciation, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense if San Francisco is combined with Tokyo, because then you'd think people would pronounce Japanese names correctly. But hey, at least one character pronounced Hiro's name right. Nobody said Tadashi's name right at all.

They pronounced Tadashi as in tuh-DAA-shi. I'm not Japanese, but I imagine it should be pronounced as Tah-da-shi. Yeah... that doesn't clear anything up at all.

Bastian Palafox If you didn't like bvs then fine thats your opinion. But if you think there wasn't character development or that lex didn't have a motivation then you missed something because those things are present in in the theatrical cut and even clearer in the ultimate cut. There are still people saying the motivations didn't make sense even with the new scenes. Also, people get a lot more hate for disliking civil war than they do for disliking batman v superman

The character himself in this context, pronounces it as “Heero”, and so you can say that’s how it’s “actually” pronounced. But Honey Lemon pronounces it the “correct” way, with respect to the Japanese culture, since Hiro and Tadashi are supposed to be Japanese. ひ as in “hi” with a short sound and ろ as “ro” with a rolled r sound. So they’re both right, in different contexts.

I liked the movie...like a lot. Something they didn't touch on in the trailer is that BH6 has a very large message of how to deal with grief! I think it's taught a lot of kids that crying and feeling sad is okay and natural, and that sometimes you just have to let your friends in to help you deal with those emotions.

The hiro/hido thing is due to some characters pronouncing it with an english r, formed by changing the shape of the mouth, and some pronouncing it with a Japanese r that is formed with the tongue by flipping once and can sometimes sound like a d to English speakers.
