In the book, the Dearlys where already married when the story starts and Mrs. Dearly and Cruella did go to school together before Cruella got kicked out. However, Cruella's last name is her definite family name because a story about her ancestor and her family home is told by a dog helping Pongo and Missus (Perdita is not the name of Pongo's wife but another Dalmatian mother).

When I learned how much money & talent went into the making of this film I was actually hopeful that Disney might be making a potentially new 'classic', along the lines of Mary Poppins, Pirates #1... The acting was great. The scenes were so amazing, especially the ones where social events took place - I could almost imagine John & Yoko walking through a room, or a young Mick Jagger making an appearance they looked and felt that real. And then the film falls apart. I LOVE the music from that era, so many great songs to choose from. But this film hardly played any. Instead, it sounded more like someone just left the radio on a bad 60s / 70s radio station that continuously non-stop played bad songs from that time, with every once in awhile an occasional 'hit'. And the movie felt like it needed to keep pace with the constant radio blasting in the background, which prohibited the film from having actual scenes where the actors "acted". So many mistakes and errors, in what could have been a really interesting and even original movie. I sincerely believe - based on the recent really bad films, the two new really badly designed theme park additions, and the incredible loss of money the company is experiencing, that the current heads of Disney should all just quietly 'retire', and allow fresh new innovative blood step in and take over.

The bottom guy talking about there being separate litters, needs to realize if they don't show any other evidence that these dogs are not related, then they are related. I mean everyone ( hopefully) knows in animal kingdom there is only one male lion in a pride, so Simba and Nala are related by blood.

Yes they used dogs for coats. Even in the ‘00’s Burlington Coat Factory got in a ton of trouble for the fur lined parka hoods being dog fur.

i feel like with this movie they really shot themselves in the foot they try so hard to make this irredeemable character likeable to the point where its not even the same person anymore they've changed to many details for it to reasonably connect this to the original movie anymore the only thing they have in common is characters with the same names

Its a bit of a Greek tragedy including incestuous dogs...

This looks like it might be enjoyable enough to watch in a foreign language, so that you could focus on the production values and not be distracted by the utterly ridiculous things like the murder by Dalmatian, or any of the other awkward connections to the original story.
