Go and check the list how many Oscars Weinstein produced movies have got, including Shakespeare in Love and The English Patient. Both movies are thought to be very overrated. The novel of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood somehow has all of his tropes, even the stuff that requires a visual medium. Ten fold for Pop Culture, the novel will often just stop the already thin plot (just a day-in-the-life thing) to talk about the characters’ movies. And characters do talk about Red Apple Cigarettes, he even meticulously describes a commercial.
