Definitely one of the better King miniseries from that era. Langoliers was utter garbage. There was also one where a green glowy thing landed in the woods (naturally) and people became possessed or something. Tommyknockers I think. I was awful
@TKe-wf2to
@TKe-wf2to 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, IT (1990) was good, especially part 1. I even think Tim Curry was better than Bill Skarsgard. He was fantastic and he could not rely on Special Effects and a great cinematography to make his appearance creepier but he still totally nailed it

Exactly, this and the stand are incredibly faithful considering the restraints they had
@mc_zittrer8793
@mc_zittrer8793 4 жыл бұрын
Well, it was basically Tim Curry channeling some of that Freddy Krueger. Back then acting was all about persona, and actors like Curry really knew how to steal the show. Skarsgard is a really interesting Pennywise in his own right; I honestly don't think either one is better or worse than the other, just different. First one is held back by some really hammy acting and painfully limited special effects, the second one is held back by LOUD NOISES AND THINGS MOVE REAL FAST. I just hope that in Chapter 2, they'll give us a movie that isn't held back by those kinds of constraints, cause the second Pennywise could have been a LOT more scary if the editing wasn't so amateurish. American directors don't seem to understand how far subtlety can actually take you in horror. Asian films are almost just as handicapped as the 90s It was in terms of their budget, but they're legitimately terrifying to watch.

He specifically mentioned "people under 30" and said "meet them" so anyone under 30 wouldn't have seen The Waltons. I'm pushing 40 and I've never seen that show, though I do know he played John-Boy. The joke was introducing these seasoned actors to young people, so it had to be a reference they'd recognize (they could have used The Americans).

While Skarsgard did a really good job, I dislike the costume design of the new Pennywise. In the book and the original mini series ITs' clown form was meant to attract children, draw them close until it is time for Pennywise to strike. He is supposed to look harmless. The new Pennywise looks just over the top evil. They also overdid it with the sound effects in the 2017 version. But overall I enjoyed it.
@Kariakas
